2023.03.28 01:53 TaraCalicosBike In August of 1978, Ken Avvenire flew to Scottsdale, Arizona for a job interview, in hopes of relocating. After a night partying with another couple from his hotel, he was discovered the next morning beaten and stabbed 17 times with a ballpoint pen. Who killed Ken Avvenire, and why?

In 1978, twenty five year old Ken Avvenire was considering making a big, cross-country move. He resided in Brooklyn, New York, and worked as a printer for a prominent printing company- but, his parent’s were making a move to sunny Scottsdale, Arizona, and Ken wanted to follow. Wanting to make sure he would have a stable job and income before making the move, Ken had flown to Arizona in August of 1978, in order to conduct an interview with a printing company in the valley. Sadly, Ken would never get the chance to move to Scottsdale or start that new job, but, instead, would become the victim of one of three murders in Scottsdale that year- the other two being Patty Kerger, and most famously, Bob Crane.
Ken arrived in Scottsdale, Arizona, and checked into the Sunburst Hotel (now known as The Scott Resort & Spa) located at 4925 N. Scottsdale Road, where he was assigned to room 207. Roughly around the same time, a couple in their mid-twenties named Richard and Janet Stingley were also checking into the hotel, assigned to room 233- just down the hall from Ken. Janet and Richard were both former ASU students, and were residing in Manhattan Beach, California. It is unknown how the couple and Ken became acquainted, but at some point, they had met and began to hang out with one another during the duration of their stay.
On the evening of August 25, Ken, an openly gay man, was seen at a gay bar named the Talk of the Town Lounge in Phoenix. The doorman of the lounge, Cale Morgano, stated that he remembered seeing Ken sitting at the bar for roughly an hour, with a male and female couple. Cale stated that the couple resembled Janet and Richard Stingley, and that they both had entered the club using California state issued identifications. After an hour, Ken and the woman, presumed to be Janet, left the bar together, and the man, presumed to be Richard, left soon after them. Later, in the early morning hours of August 26, Ken was seen at a different bar, the Hisco Disco, located at 3839 N. 16th Street, in Phoenix. A witness at the bar had stated to authorities that they had seen Ken dancing with someone who had matched the description of Richard Stingley- a 6 foot, white, blonde man. Any other interactions at the Hisco Disco, including when Ken left and with who, have never been stated or released to the public.
In the afternoon of August 26, 1978, Ken Avvenire was discovered deceased in room 207 of the Sunburst hotel. He had been beaten over the head with a lamp, and then stabbed 17 times in the chest with a ballpoint pen. When spoken to, guests in adjoining rooms had claimed they heard nothing out of the ordinary- no commotion or yelling coming from room 207. When investigators heard that Ken was last seen with a couple that matched the description of the Stingleys, they searched room 233, as well. They had discovered a small speck of blood in the bathroom, which was later to be determined as type O blood- neither of the Stingley’s had type O blood. On top of that, previous residents of room 233 were spoken to by police, and the most recent occupant had stated that the speck of blood had not been there during her visit, nor had she been injured in any way during her stay. Sadly, the blood samples from the crime scene as well as the blood sample from room 233 were never kept as evidence, despite them being able to possibly render a DNA profile today. One month later, on September 23, 1978, Ken’s rental car was discovered by a police officer at an apartment complex in Phoenix. The officer had lived at the apartment complex and had noted that the car hadn’t moved for the entire month, and called it in as suspicious.
Detectives had gone to Manhattan Beach to reinterview the Stingley’s, after the murder of Ken Avvenire, and when first spoken to, Janet and Richard had inquired if it was in relation to the murder of Bob Crane. They were informed it was not. Sadly, the murder of Ken Avvenire has never been solved, despite some decently obvious suspects, and it has since grown cold. John Kirkman of the Scottsdale cold case unit was assigned the case, along with 7 others, and has stated that he “hasn’t even looked it,” yet. The case has been swept under the rug and mostly ignored since day one, perhaps due to the high profile case of Bob Crane, which dominated police attention at the time- the only motivation investigators have ever stated for the murder was that it was most likely a hate crime. Unfortunately, the murder of Ken Avvenire has gotten basically no press coverage, either- the only things I could find on the murder was a single article written by the East Valley Tribune in August of 2003, as well as a small blurb in an article by AZ Central.

2023.03.28 01:52 Unhappy_Ad_4420 Conservative highschool students plotted to gangrape a black teacher at the highschool my GF works at.

My gf is Bi and known for being more liberal and teaches in a shitty low income school in a very red district. One of the other teachers finally quit and told her how the only black female teacher was targeted by a group of students. They were in a group chat plotting to jump her and I shit you not, gang rape her in the school parking lot. There is a lot more to it but I dont know what she should do. She knows there are lgbt students there that get called slurs and she makes sure to look out for them and not tolerating it. The principle has her back and is pro lgbt and even wants to start a club for those students to hangout. The school is very dangerous though, these brainwashes conservatives seriously have been groomed to kill lgbt people and it worries me my gf is on the frontlines. She even got called a groomer by a conservative parent for wanting to show the movie "Moonlight" in class because it had a gay relationship or something. Its actually insane

2023.03.28 01:46 suwasuwasue mom is throwing the largest homophobic tantrum i've ever experienced

For some context: my mom is Very homophobic and extremely controlling. She regularly checks my phone and sifts through my different apps. I found out a few years back that she will even come into my room as I'm sleeping and look through it. Her reasoning is that she is "looking out for me" and needs to be alert in case I'm in danger or am doing dangerous things. In general she doesn't exactly trust me and views me pretty lowly, as she doesn't treat my younger brother this way. (I don't have any resentment towards my younger brother, but I can see the favoritism).
Anyways, last night I must have been extremely exhausted because I passed out while I was reading on my phone. Assumingly my mom came in later on and opened my phone. What I was reading involved a gay couple and my mom read that and freaked. I later woke up around 6am because she was so angry that she started hitting me with one of my pillows. I've been woken up by her yelling at me before, but I've never been beaten awake before so I was pretty shocked. I also was still about half asleep so I could barely process what was going on.
She proceeds to rant and scream at me for indulging myself in "the devil's work" and "dirtying my mind with filth" and all the other terrible things you could say about the LGBTQ+ community. It was only then I pieced together that I passed out and she saw what I was reading. It wasn't even NSFW, it was a very tame reading and it still brought out the worst in her. She continues yelling about how I never listen to her and I'm filling my mind with junk as she rips off the blankets on my bed and yanks my hair + shaking my head. She leaves to cook my brother lunch for school and comes back to yell at me. I thought she was going to make me drop out of my plans with my friends today but I suppose she cares about saving face, so I went with her to drop off my brother so she could drop me off with my friends afterwards. She pretends to be completely fine while my brother is in the car, but once we drop him off she yells at me all the way until I get dropped off. The whole time it's more homophobic rants and her saying my disrespect for her will kill her.
I was gone for about 4 hours, and when I was picked up to go pick up my brother, my mom is silent. I assumed she was giving me the silent treatment (routine is that she will give me the silent treatment and then go back to normal 2 days later). However, once we start approaching my brother's school she starts ugly crying and screaming at me about why I "couldn't just be normal." She even told me to stop being involved in clubs and caring about my grades if I'm going to "be a freak and ruin my mind." Of course, we pick up my brother and she is normal again. But once we get home, she immediately gets ready and leaves again alone.
I believe she wanted to cool off and again, that's normal. But she texts me "You want me to die." A very extreme message since, obviously, I do not want her to die. But apparently me reading about gay people is so horrible it will kill her. After I reply that I do not want her to, she calls me and rehashes the same rant again, though this time there's more emphasis about how one day she'll just up and pass away since "I want to be disobedient so bad."
Anyways that's about where it's at as I finish this post. She's still not home, but I wouldn't really want to be near her right now. It's kind of sad to say but I'm pretty desensitized by now, because whenever I do something she really doesn't like or approve of, she throws a massive tantrum. I've had her throw toasters, pots, food, on the floor or on the walls. She's shoved things off tables. She's broken a few of my things because it's in arm's reach. She threw a new box of cookies into my room, making a mess I later had to clean up. She recently threw a fit where she started screaming and pounding the kitchen floor before sitting down and crying. I pretty much am on eggshells at home since our personalities are quite different and I tend to forget to be more soft-spoken and act like a model child around her. I don't think that my home is unsafe but I do occasionally wonder if I should be more careful due to past threats. (When I had a bad habit of biting nails as a kid she held up kitchen scissors to my hand and said she will cut off my fingers. These days she says she will throw away things I've bought / make me sleep in the garage or on the streets.)
I am in the process of getting an exit plan going through, but it's been kind of rough just because I'm still quite financially dependent, and my studies make it difficult for me to do anything right now.
This is just a vent post; I've been away from home all weekend for an event which went pretty poorly, so this was just the icing on the cake. I'm still open to comments if you relate, have any exit strategy tips, etc.

if you look you will see Even further back in ancient antiqueties you find all it over as well. Examples. Pneuma (πνεῦμα) is an ancient Greek word for "breath", and in a religious context for "spirit" or "soul".Greek translations of ruach רוח in the Hebrew language From Proto-West Semitic *rūḥ-. Cognate with Arabic رُوح‎ (rūḥ).: /ˈruah In Islam, the Holy Spirit acts as an agent of divine action is seen as the intermediary between God and man and "the outpouring grace of God and the effulgent rays that emanate from His Manifestation Nephesh (נֶ֫פֶשׁ‎ nép̄eš) is a Biblical Hebrew word which occurs in the Hebrew Bible. I'm sure there is more I missed of you know of any please don't hesitate to comment just a name is enough for me to go off of thanks in advance for any an all efforts to forward that endeavor of mine.
So I won't lie that some of this is based on real lifes mystical chi, chakra, ki, spirit , faith ,there's many more and wiki is a great source on the subject in regards to when an where specifics. So some of this is based off of my real life experience perceptions of the world Some is speculation I'll try me best to note the difference for easier understanding purposes
Now it is said in most ancient cultures with bad ass warriors being a main staple of said cultures development and legacies Top warriors have a certain code
This is not in dispute
If anything whats disputed is what the code is What is important to remember is tho they may have differed slightly in the end point is all top end martial masters seem to have one regardless.
Some ancient military records flat out describe some warriors doing and not just once but every time having unexplained ways of winning against numerous enemies at once over and over and over battle after battle after battle Point of fact most live to become old in seclusion often wrighting books Like the art of war, there's more but if you can't find the ones who lived it apart from those who didn't you stop reading now an save your time .
One would wonder in real life if lets say kuriapika s announcement of NeN to even fighting fields of all engaged would by the end the winner want said knowing to continue openly.
So in layman's terms ask yourself do you think the end of the succession war arc will end with the winner being a fan of open knowing of NeN being ok or not?
Likely it would be no as the odds of non nen users beating army's of NeN users.is .... Compared to say yes they did allow and promote open knowing of NeN for it not to become a myth this is how I think it went from discovery to open used as much as ever would be to secret and secluded passings of it's existence.
Now I know of a place in real life that is perfectly suited for a hidden in plain sight so to speak place for the number of ppl currently in world alive capable of using nen ,let's go off hxh chairman arc as number as example as it's easy, Housing, training, exam, practicing So in layman's terms
,like even a hisoka looking muther fucker could still check in as long as they didn't cause disturbance and could pay,
once alone out of sight in a elevator or some specific unique game console in a always gaurded room to make change there really is infinity ways with NeN I'm just saying it is the perfect front and like hunter association building ECT
The thing about it's location is particularly convenient for a lot of problems you'd have alot of other places one could almost say it's the perfect place. And it could be a Greed island kinda NeN system making it work Now I'm easily capable of seeing if some knew they would would go a battle tailored fighting style hatsu I can honestly say if it was like Ging taught me an then floated the idea of it being for all to come afters betterment and the greater good to have ppl make powers work in sync for such end results like a GI or Burj khalifa front for HA/hunter association headquarters cause I think that kinda shit is legit as.fuck but I know personally those who would be akin to killua mentality an thinking
In layman's terms it just practicality wise makes a lot sense something like this would be done for the means of access to those who undoubtedly find it thenselfs or through teachings of others ect, if ppl figured it out originally on there own others would inevitably do the same ,
Now there is just about as many legends and storys of places too good for it not to be NeN if in fact they did exist and did also do what is said Sometimes a big task researching enough to say for sure May be we.destroy more then we preserve as a species on average I do know I think there is some real top the list contenders for real life equivalent being real and I'll list them as examples but I want first to do one as a whole reason why I think "all the secrecy" today's times next first .....
So In layman's terms..... Sounds like a good public cover story for why everyone being like yo Netro why those bullets bounce off you bro wtf......
Now this is mostly speculation but at the heart of speculation is the experience of perceptions by who ever is doing the speculation that's why I did the layman's terms for this section first not last
In the middle of Africa is the congo Needless to say without getting into factually wise the horrible ness would allow for the training of say zushi not living horrible but comfy with wing training, one of the real life examples by the by, Because yes folks by comparison getting chopped up in your sleep as a daily occurrence with no not even a minimum but none at all justice system or the like to stop it in remote and no civilization has reached besides what the warlords who are there now Bring to do what they do unchecked in opposed fire power or even a electricity from generator or vehicle let alone guns right vs villages of stick hut fire in middle of camp walking an gathering for water an food still ppl.
I bring this up because In Africa there is ppl called hunters There word is dozo or dono Googling the three journalist deaths in africa causing uproar and demanding investigation for answers Should be effective Note the ppl who were hired as guides They literally are quoted as saying there magic will protect them from bullets harming them And they are a "association of ppl for hire" Again that's a direct quote from the locals who referred them as the ones.to get as guides inland without dieing all on top of they are called a hunter association by the locals they are also protected by bullets with magic ... Now after looking into these hunters I found that African has more or less two versions like a lot of places but it's not the normal north an south or east and west but the outer and inner African continent are vastly different. Like one most journalists don't even go to or just don't return from and it's ironic enough full of diamond so that on top of no technology to prove problematic and interesting enough the outside world at large with any real chance to stop this is in consensus it's not worth the fight If diamonds still flow out to be bought up resold ECT ect
Now let's say there is ppl in Africa who have lived far enough inland long ago and it more or less passed enough to continue which at worst really only takes one to teach another one
I'll relate this to sith in star wars in that if one real promising, anikin , student about to be acknowledged as master level good even tho they are real young type of prodigy, Has even one real bad thing happened, Anikin turns Darth Vader over being told his lover and kids just died at his friends and teachers hands right .
My point is anyone can decide to turn dark side because tragic unfortunate accidents If they happen to be like going to bring balance to the force prophecy level strong then who stops them When you have that nd the whole middle of a continent as your unopposed training ground in a place over head satalights are unable to effectively see with and a monopoly on diamonds to fund your wildest dreams What I wonder would be next World recognition as a world power perhaps A sufficient enough gesture of good faith to compose a reckless new threat with unknown capabilities like the changing of v5 to v6 maybe Maybe the guy running the shit in the congo is just considered by those who would be aging out of a game the obviously got the worst of this time around lucky not to be a world wide menace in person and still via underlings from the shadows of his growing empire.... Maybe it's really when they die the reign begins who knows.

2023.03.28 01:27 Hot-Garlic1180 M20 I would like to know if you had any advice on how to come out as bi to my parents? like in a smooth way?

They know my boyfriend is gay because they've known him since I was a kid and he came out in high school and we’re 20 now, but I’m not out yet, they've always seen me with girls and I can't see myself coming out to them all of a sudden and saying "oh by the way I'm with him now". Although I think it might be easier for me. But my father is quite "old school" and has quite "traditional values", although he never had a problem with my now boyfriend's homosexuality (or at least he never said so). But I think he's like the kind of person who thinks he's quite open-minded about other people even if it goes against his "values", but that things will be different if his own son comes out and assumes in front of everybody (which I'm going to do anyway because I'm not going to hide and curb my happiness for him) that he's with a guy. Do any of the people here who may have been in my situation, who were dating the opposite sex before – without being out – and suddenly introduced a guy/girl to their parents or relatives have any advice for me? Thank you again, this community is precious to me and helps me towards my goal of being fully out as a bisexual 🫶🏻

2023.03.28 01:22 Voodoo_Clerk Tales From St. Mihel Country Club: The Most Extravagant Patron

Part 1
After the visit from Mr. Sinclair and his associates, you would think that that would have been one of the most horrible things that ever happened to me. Well, it was, up until a few weeks after their visit. I had just gotten acquainted with my new manager, Harold when he showed up one day unannounced.
Now after what had happened to the golf course and most of the lobby, Antonio Garibaldi had been banned from St. Mihel. To the point that there was even a sign on the door of the lobby that explicitly said that he was not allowed on the premises. And I was more than happy to abide by that rule after all the carnage that he had caused me. Though honestly, I was at least thankful that he had gotten rid of my last manager. Harold was a much nicer person overall. Though I would be lying if I said that I didn’t mix their names up several times over.
But to get back on track, it was only a few days ago that he showed up at St. Mihel again. It was just becoming fall and the leaves were piling up to near unmanageable levels. So of course I was designated to rake them off of the parking lot. I was sweeping the leaves out of Sinclair’s personal spot when a sudden feeling of dread came over me. It was like an overwhelming crushing feeling that caused me to drop my rake.
“Teddy!” Came the slightly accented voice of Garibaldi as he quickly threw his arm around me and pulled me away from my fallen rake. “Just the man that I was looking for! Say, you wouldn’t mind if I treated you to a nice day out, would ya?” He wrapped his arm around my neck and gave it a hard squeeze, enough to almost cause me to choke out and pound on his arm.
“I-I’m sorry, sir,” I said through choking and increasingly shallow breaths. “Y-you’re not allowed on the premises anymore!” I was starting to full-blown panic when finally he released me and allowed me to breathe fully. As I coughed and did my best to catch my breath, I looked over at Garibaldi and was taken aback by just how different he looked out of the tail-suit that I had seen him in originally. His long flowing white and black hair was still prominently on display, but he now wore the outfit of a ringleader of a circus. This was really the first time I could lay close eyes on him and I noticed just how colorful and otherworldly his eyes were. It was like every color of the rainbow was located in his eyes.
“Oh? Is that so? Is Constantine still mad at me for throwing just one measly hissy fit? It’s his fault you know. Instead of that stupid lame golf game, he should have had a mini golf course instead.” He sighed, looking at me for a moment before smiling at me. “Oh come on now, Teddy. Just one measly visit from me won’t be the end of the world. Besides, I won’t tell him if you don’t.” He smiled at me and I stared at him, my eyes drifting over to the scar across his face. Remembering what lay beneath it I weighed my options. Either I was fired or I was eaten. I’m sure you can figure out which path I chose.
“What would you like to do, sir?” I asked him, resigning myself to whatever insane thing he would most likely command me to do. He clapped happily and came over, throwing his arm around me and dragging me towards the entrance of St. Mihel.
“We have so many options! Not that silly golf of course. Wouldn’t want a repeat of that situation again!” He laughed aloud as he pulled me along toward the entrance. I noticed that Harold was at the entrance to St. Mihel and we locked eyes with each other for a moment. It looked like he was about to tell me not to let Garibaldi in, but all it took was a brief glance at me to prove that it wasn’t worth trying to stop him. The colorful ringleader burst into the lobby of St. Mihel with me still wrapped around his arm.
“W-well sir, you expressed interest in the kitchen during your last visit.” I didn’t know much about Antonio Garibaldi. Then again I didn’t know much about any of Sinclair’s associates, but I at least knew that Garibaldi enjoyed eating people. So maybe he just enjoyed eating? Look I was thinking on my feet here and I’m not exactly the best critical thinker.
“That’s a great idea!” He enthusiastically shouted and began dragging me towards the dining room. It took a few tries to get him to let go of me, but at long last, he finally released me and allowed me to lead him to the dining room. We entered the sparsely populated dining room and I led him to the VIP section. Setting the table and also getting him a menu, I realized that I had just been demoted to a waiter.
“Oh knock that shit off, Teddy. Go ahead and sit down. I know you’re not a fucking waiter.” Garibaldi told me. I stared at him for a moment before sitting across from him. I awkwardly placed a napkin across my lap and stared at him for a moment before avoiding eye contact with him. After what felt like an eternity, one of the waitresses finally came over to take our orders.
“Would you gentlemen like to start with an appetizer? Perhaps some wine?” she asked us, looking over at me with an aura of jealousy and anger. Makes sense since I was basically an errand boy eating at a five-star restaurant.
“Where’s the special menu?” Antonio asked as he swiped the bottle of wine from her and began to chug it straight from the bottle. I watched him as he guzzled down an extremely expensive bottle of wine like it was juice. Which I guess it kinda is.
“This is the special menu, sir.” Our waitress told him, getting a laugh from Antonio once he finally finished the wine bottle.
“No, it isn’t, sweetie. Maybe this will remind you.” He reached into his ringleader jacket and pulled out a card. I couldn’t quite make out what it said, but when the waitress took the card out and examined it, her face turned pale. She looked back at Antonio before she nodded and quickly scrambled away back toward the kitchen. That got a huge cackle out of him as he pounded the table and laughed like a damn lunatic. “That’s always fucking funny!” He laughed, so hard that his scar opened up just a little bit to show his row of teeth hidden in there.
I awkwardly sat across from him as he lost his mind with how funny he had found it. When he, at last, calmed down he looked over at me and smiled at me. I avoided his eyes again and that was enough to giggle at me some more. Soon one of the chefs came out to us and handed us menus that I had never seen before. Our menus are pretty fancy since they are bound in leather and written in gold lettering. But these ones were something out of a rich person’s dream. Bound in velvet and written in gold and silver.
“W-we weren’t expecting you to come here, sir.” The chef told Garibaldi as the ringleader thumbed through the menu. I looked through it and found that a lot of these items were simply one-worded and offered no description as to what the item on the menu was.
“I just felt like stopping by,” he said with a smile on his face. Flipping through his menu before coming to a page that caught his eye. A much bigger smile spread across his face and he began to stare at the menu. “This, I want this one.” He pointed at the menu and tapped at it rapidly. Just like a child wanting to order but pointing at the menu like it had a picture on it.
The chef looked down at the menu and now even his face went pale. “S-sir. A-are you sure? T-that dish is, incredibly hard on our staff.” The chef clearly didn’t want to cook this for him. But Garibaldi grabbed him by the collar and dragged him down to his level.
“Serve me, the orphan!” he shouted at him. I dropped my menu upon hearing that. I looked down at the menu when it fell and grabbed it again, flipping through it until finding the page that did indeed contain the phrase, ‘Orphan’. A part of me was hoping that it was just a strange name for a dish, but by the chef’s reaction, I had my doubts.
“R-right away, sir.” The chef told Garibaldi, who let go of his collar and gave him a hard pat on the back. The chef looked over at me with a mixture of fear and disgust. Almost as if he thought that I was going to order an orphan. I most certainly did not want that.
“J-just a burger, please,” I told the chef, to which he nodded and walked away quickly. Garibaldi tsked at me like he was disappointed in my selection. “S-so. Uhm, sir, are you in the circus?” I asked him, trying to make small talk and try to put the idea of what he ordered as far away from my mind as possible.
“Indeed I am! Been in the business for a very long time,” he said with a smile as if remembering back on his glory days. “You should visit sometime, Teddy! I’ll give you the best seats in the house, and your own personal show! I’m sure my troop would love to have you,” he said like an excited and giddy child. It was a tempting offer, my never having been to the circus was certainly a big motivator.
“I might have to take you up on that,” I said with a laugh and he giddily nodded along. The same waitress came back over with a pitcher of water and another bottle of wine, which Garibaldi this time didn’t guzzle straight down like he had last time. I wasn’t much of a wine drinker so I was fine with just the water.
“So Teddy, how’s the old man been treating you?” Garibaldi asked as he devoured the bread rolls that were brought to us by the waitress after our drinks. At first, I was thinking he was talking about my dad until I figured he must be talking about Sinclair.
“Mr. Sinclair hasn’t been back since you were all here together,” I told him, picking at the solitary bread roll I had managed to take from the basket before the ringleader had eaten them all.
“Can’t blame him. His father built this place, and those two did not have the best relationship. Or so I’ve been told. Never met his father, so I can’t really judge,” he said, going back for the bread only to find nothing left for him. I offered him mine and it looked like he wanted to kiss me with how happy he looked.
“Can I ask, sir?” Garibaldi looked up from his bread roll with a confused noise. “What is it that you guys do? Like, how do you all know each other?” I asked him, wanting to know how that strange mixture of creatures had all gotten to know each other.
“Oh, now that’s a story. Well, it was about 1931 when-” All of a sudden there was a scream from back in the kitchen. We both looked back over towards the kitchen as we watched one of the sous chefs run out of the kitchen screaming bloody murder. “Oh boy! Dinner and a show!” Garibaldi cackled happily as a group of other chefs ran after their co-worker.
“You can’t make me! This is fucking disgusting!” He screamed as he was tackled to the floor next to our table. Garibaldi was laughing hysterically and banging on the table as they wrestled the emotional man to the floor. Leaning over our table and looking down at them on the floor Garibaldi smiled down at them.
“Gentlemen, I would like my meal. Sooner rather than later. After all, either you give me my meal, or you become my meal.” His scar split open and his row of teeth and tongue went on full display with a growl and screech. The group of men stood up and ran back toward the kitchen. “Hopefully that’ll light a fire under their ass,” he said with another giggle. I swallowed the lump in my throat as I realized just how screwed I was in this situation. I was really regretting that I didn’t call in sick today.
We were silent for a bit longer, me no longer feeling like bringing up the subject of Sinclair and his other associates. Garibaldi began drumming his fingers on the table in a rhythm. I watched his fingers and noticed a ring across his finger. A wedding ring.
“Are you married, sir?” I asked him, and that stopped his drumming mid-rhythm. I looked over at him and he was staring at me with a mixture of shock and confusion. It was like a deer caught in headlights and it was like he had to reboot his brain.
“I…was.” He pulled his hands back from the table and hid them down in his lap and now he was the one avoiding eye contact with me. “A long time ago.” He let the conversation die there and I didn’t feel like pressing any further. It clearly wasn’t worth it, and I would much rather not have him lash out at me the way he lashed out at golf.
Our awkward silence was at last broken by the arrival of the food we had ordered. I got mine first, a simple cheeseburger. Garibaldi meanwhile had a huge assortment of plates brought over to him. A big stewpot, a rack of ribs, some cuts of meat, and even a bottle of what I thought was wine.
“Enjoy your meal.” The soulless waitress told us. The chefs looked like they had gone through hell to make this meal. Upon seeing everything laid out before him, any trace of that sad forlorn look vanished from Garibaldi’s face as he looked at everything laid out before him.
“You bet your ass I will!” His childlike glee returned with gusto and he began to dig into every little dish all at once. He was the messiest eater I have ever seen. No utensils were used other than his bare hands and he reveled in every single dish. He dug into the ribs with a loud sickening crunch as he bit right into the bones and the meat together.
I looked back down at my burger and contemplated setting it back down and just not eating it. But I was hungry, and the burger was right there. So I took a bite out of it while doing my best to avoid watching Garibaldi tear into his food like a man possessed.
He opened up the pot lid and his eyes went wide with excitement at whatever it was that was staring back at him from the pot. For this one, he did use a utensil, a ladle that you would normally scoop the stew into a bowl with. Well, Garibaldi was scooping the stew right into his mouth. I watched him as I chewed the same bite over and over a million times. My burger was burnt more than a charred log, and I finally elected not to eat it after all, setting it back on the plate and pushing it away.
“What’s the matter, Teddy?” he asked me as he pulled away from the pot, a long piece of intestine in his mouth that he slurped up like a spaghetti noodle, causing me to gag silently and look away from him.
“M-my burger is too overdone,” I told him, to which he tsked angrily and looked back over at the waitress. He blew a loud whistle over to her and demanded her attention. She quickly abandoned the table that she was attending and ran over to us.
“W-what’s the matter, sir?” she asked, clearly terrified. Garibaldi pointed her attention over to me and then down to the burger that I had taken one measly bite out of.
“You overcooked that. Take it back and do it right. Just because he works here, doesn’t mean you and those chefs can shit on my guest’s food.” He told her, shooing her away with his dirty hands and returning to his meal with excited glee after she had run off back to the kitchen with my burnt burger.
All the stress that this was causing me was tugging on my nicotine addiction and I desperately wanted a cigarette to alleviate my symptoms. My eyes fell on the bottle of wine and I reached out to see if maybe that would calm me down, but Garibaldi quickly reached out and swiped it from me before I could grasp it.
“Sorry, Teddy. I don’t think you’d enjoy this. It isn’t what you think it is,” he said with a smile as he uncorked the bottle and brought it to his lips. I watched as instead of wine, a thick red liquid began to spill out from the bottle. And the unmistakable smell of iron hit my nostrils and I sat back and did my best to keep my stomach from barfing back everything that I had eaten.
The waitress eventually brought back my burger, but I had no appetite to speak of. The implications of what Garibaldi was eating in front of me had completely ruined any thoughts of eating. But to keep up appearances I did my best to try and nibble on the burger, while Garibaldi completely slaughtered his meal and wiped his stained hands and mouth using the white tablecloth.
“What an amazing meal! And no Constantine to annoy me with stupid things like ‘table manners’.” He scoffed as he shoved his empty plates and the stew pot away from him. After all was said and done, I had managed to scarf down a little over half of my burger, and I never wanted to look at another burger ever again after all this.
Suddenly Harold appeared in the dining room with a landline phone. He was sprinting toward our table and he handed the receiver over to Garibaldi. “P-phone call for you, sir.” The ringleader groaned and snatched the phone from him and held it up to his ear.
“Ciao?” he asked into the receiver. His brow furrowed when he heard the voice on the other end. “Benny? How did you get this number? What do you mean the twins set the tent on fire? Oh for fucks sake.” He groaned, standing up and reaching into his pocket to grab a wad of cash. Throwing it at Harold he snapped at me and ordered me to pick up the phone’s base and follow him. “Make sure no one else does anything stupid before I get there! Yes? Good, arrivederci.” He growled handing me the phone and snarling.
“S-some circus issues, sir?” I asked him, fumbling with the phone before finally managing to hang it up for him.
“You don’t know the fucking half of it.” He looked back at me and I could tell by his annoyed and angry expression that something horrible was going to happen when he got back to his circus troop. “Thanks for a good time, Teddy. Sorry, this was all we got to do.” He sighed, walking over and hugging me before kissing both of my cheeks and tussling my hair. “Addio dolcezza!” He told me as he ran off to who knew where.
I sighed as I placed the phone on some random table and walked back to my own. I looked over at the spot where Garibaldi had been sitting and looked over at the pot. My curiosity got the better of me, and I approached it. Opening the pot I took a look inside and immediately threw up into it when I did.
“Ted? You okay, man?” Harold asked as I backed away from the pot and coughed. I shook my head violently and looked back at him.
“I quit man. I’m handing in my two fucking weeks.” I told him as I walked away from him and his vain attempts to try and convince me otherwise. The thing in that pot is not worth discussing, but just know that I’m fucking done working here. As long as nothing horrible happens to me in these next two weeks, I’m fucking gone.

2023.03.28 01:04 JoJomusic1990 How do I navigate a discussion with my friend about his relationship envy?

So I have a friend, who has been single for a very long time. In fact, he's never really had a boyfriend. For the past 2 years or so (just around when COVID restrictions started lifting), he has gotten fixated on finding a boyfriend. Like it's all he can talk about. All conversations with him eventually lead to his complaining that he's single, guys don't like relationships, guys don't like him, guys are flaky/shallow, guys only want sex, guys only care about money etc. At first, I thought this was a temporary mindset and he was just reacting this strongly after lockdown because of the pandemic. But it has gotten worst as time has gone on.
What brought things to a head is that my fiancé and I got engaged a few months ago and have been slowly planning our wedding. At first he seemed happy for us, but as time has gone on, he's become very sippy, not just at us, but towards all the couples in our friend group. It's made a lot of people not want to get together to plan things out. My boyfriend and I are estranged from most of our families for the typical reasons, you might expect for gay men. So it means a lot of have our friends kind of take the roles that would have gone to family members and helping us plan.
He has made things unbearable and all about his singleness. He always has something sarcastic and negative to say ("Thanks for letting help out with planning your wedding, since I'm never going to have my own!", "I guess only the good looking guys get happily ever afters", "I guess the guys with money just want to marry each other and us peasants have to beg outside for scraps"). Please note, my fiancé and I are neither insanely rich or outstandingly handsome (well I think he is, but I'm bias), but it's like he's been lionising everything to make the wedding seem "outrageous", "unrealistic", or "unattainable".
He says these things in a "I just JOKING" way, and with anyone else I would probably believe that, but these catty/mean comments have been happening so frequently that I just don't buy that he means it light heartedly.
He also has had the audacity to ask me to set him up with dates, implying that I owe it to him since I'm having a wedding while he's still single and thus embarrassing him. Note, I've tried setting him up in the past, but according to the dudes I set him up with, he came on WAY too strong, was super clingy, and was already talking about relationships and LOVE before they had finished their coffee. And those guys are now in long term relationships with other men, so they were genuinely looking for relationships. So I honestly don't want to set him up with another friend, because that would be unfair to the friend.
The cherry on top is that he has started confiding to another single friend, whom has never said anything negative about being single. But now he's starting to immitate his behavior and has started to commiserate with him.
I know most of you will say to dump him as a friend. Admittedly, this would be the logical choice. But he was my first openly gay friend. When I came out to my family and my brother punched me and my father disowned me, he held me as a cried and drank myself to sleep that weekend. He's been there for me when I was at my lowest, I don't want to write him off unless I really have to.
I know I need to have a discussion with him about how his actions/statements/attitudes have become intolerable at this point. My friends and I have tried to broaching the topic before but he becomes defensive, will make excuses, and will redirect the conversation.
So how can I have a direct conversation with him, without him feeling threatened/criticized so he doesn't try to run away from the topic? How can I frame it? Should I have him come over one on one to watch TV, then transition into the discussion or should I tell him directly what I want to talk about? Should it just be me or should other friends that he's started to become critical of also be present to Voice their concerns/hurt, or would that make him feel like he's being gained up on?
Any experience and/or advice on organizing/framing this discussion would be of a great help.
TLDR: Chronically single friend had started to become intolerable toxic/mean/snippy since fiancé and I got engaged. His negatively is affecting the friend group and I need help on how to frame a discussion with him that won't feel overly critical so he doesn't try to deflect.

2023.03.28 00:51 Federal_Fondant_1985 Dancing with girly friends 💅🏻 at the club as a gay man… anyone get “excited”? 🤣

So I don’t go to clubs often and I can’t think back on if this has ever even happened to me or not. But of all the videos I see of guys dancing with their girl friends out at bars & clubs…. I can’t imagine that the general grinding motions & dancing wouldn’t cause a guy to get hard even if they are gay.
Do any guys have any experience with this? Like do you or don’t you get ‘excited’ and how do your female friends react knowing that you’re gay lol. Or is everyone too drunk to realize or even care?

“We monitored SARS-CoV-2 and MPXV genomes in the air in six bar areas and one dark room (sex room) in Madrid nightclubs frequently visited by MSM during four weekend days in 2022 (July 8, July 16, Aug 8, and Nov 5). To sample aerosols, air samples were collected in nanofibre filters[3] located behind the club bar or in a central location of the dark room away from customers (>2 m distance), and viral genomes were detected by quantitative PCR (appendix p 2).
[...] Seven Aircheck Essential air pumps (SKC), with a working flow of 5L/min [were used for air sampling]. To sample aerosols, pumps were located at 2 m height and > 2m distance behind the bar or in a central location of the dark room, out of the reach of customers and staff. Drinks were served in all locations, except in the dark room (5b) where sex relationships occurred. Pumps were coupled to a filter holder with a 25 mm newly developed nanofiber filter (1), and were working for 7 to 8 h on four Saturday nights, finishing the sampling at 2:30-3:00 a.m. After sampling, air filters were included in 1 ml of 1X cell lysis buffer (Promega) and kept refrigerated until nucleic acid isolation.
[...] On July 8, which coincided with the gay pride parade in Madrid, MPXV DNA was undetectable in the air, with the exception of one sample, and on July 16, it was detected in two samples. MPXV in the air had increased considerably on Aug 8, with four (57%) of seven positive samples containing more than 100 genomes per m3, or even more than 1000 genomes per m3 in one case; this date coincided with the peak incidence of mpox in Spain. High viral loads in the air were detected in the dark room but also in bar areas, sometimes even at higher concentrations. MPXV was undetectable in November. Carbon dioxide concentrations were very high in all nightclubs [minimum 900ppm], indicating poor ventilation and a high risk of airborne transmission (appendix p 5).”

2023.03.28 00:23 semperfidelisnn0938 Q Parents and Fox News vs. Me and MSNBC

Once again, here we sit, counting the bodies of children and the men and women who undoubtedly gave their lives in defense of those dear and small victims of a national lunacy which seems unending.
For those of you who believe, please say a prayer to our G-d for the little children, the heroic adults, and their families. May this madness soon, and at long last, just end.
Whilst watching the horrific news come in on MSNBC, my Q Parents were watching it on Fox News. The hosts on MSNBC were, predictably, talking statistics, high-capacity magazines, and the legal sale of weapons of war (which my father, sister, brother, and I carried in defense of our nation in places where such awesome weaponry was needed) to Americans.
Walk into the other room, and what is Fox talking about? The shooter is transgendered.
I was in prison from 2018 to 2022 for bank robbery and things had already kind of gone off the rails by the time I went upstate. Is this where we are as a nation now? I was told that many things had changed before I paroled last November, but, really? What the f-ck is wrong? A news station, standing over the bodies of 9 year olds is more concerned about the gender identity of a mass shooter than the mass shooting itself?
I know this isn't salient to the whole Q thing, but I just don't know what has happened to us.
Edit: One of the victims is my girlfriend's cousin. I had to go to prison to meet my very first girlfriend's Uncle who lived 3 cells down from me, so now, tragically, I again learn what a small world we live in.

2023.03.28 00:02 Hot-Garlic1180 I can't thank you enough for all the support I've received since my last post with my boyfriend. I would like to know if you had any advice on how to come out as bi to my parents? like in a smooth way?

2023.03.27 23:59 JoJomusic1990 Need advice about having/navigating a discussion about my friend's envy.

“There will be no protection for people like that, no protection for anybody who wants to get involved in their community or voice their opinion.” — Barbara Petersen, First Amendment lawyer
Florida Republican legislators now less than three weeks into the rule-making eight-week 2023 legislative session in Tallahassee are preparing to break faith with almost 60 years of American jurisprudence established by the Supreme Court in 1964 to protect free speech. Following a public discussion criticizing media and a call to legislators to rein in its excesses by Gov. Ron DeSantis last month, the legislators took steps to do that, introducing a bill that would allow politicians and other government officials or public figures to sue any critics they claim defamed them — without having to prove actual malice if the critics point to behaviors or events arguably unrelated to the job: extra marital affairs, for example, or possible business deals.
In another striking break with precedence, the bill says anybody who accuses an official of discrimination “against another person or group because of their race, sex, sexual orientation, or gender identity” has automatically defamed them, whether or not the allegation is true.

Not only that, but the bill would allow elected leaders and officials to claim “religious expression or belief,” or “scientific beliefs” — the phrase itself may be an oxymoron — and thus sue anyone who challenges publically their comments or actions aimed at lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender or queer people, or religious groups such as Jews or Muslims, for example. Such actions described as part of a leader’s religious expression or belief, or scientific belief, “cannot be considered evidence of discrimination” in the proposed bill.
In addition, anonymous sources including background sources speaking off the record for news reports — of the kind that exposed the Nixon Watergate scandal in 1973 or first exposed former President Clinton’s affair with a White House intern in 1998 or played a role in reporting former President Trump’s extra marital liaisons in more recent years, for example — would be presumed false in any lawsuit.

The losing side, defendants who criticized officials and got the thumbs down from the courts, would have to pay attorney fees and costs. That’s an English court-system tradition, not an American tradition. Here, each side pays its own costs, a condition much less likely to inhibit those without deep pockets from speaking their minds in public.
Florida would be the first state in the nation to take such an action if legislators pass House Bill 991.
Sponsored by Rep. Alex Andrade, R-2, and co-sponsored by Rep. Mike Beltran, R-70, the bill advanced through a civil justice subcommittee into the justice committee of the House last week. That’s part of the process that brings a bill forward to a vote, if committee members approve, in the full House of 120 legislators before the session wraps up on May 5. Bills passed in a full vote by the Legislature must then either be signed into law or vetoed by the governor. The new law would take effect July 1.
“Gov. DeSantis likes the quote: ‘Freedoms are worth fighting for.’ Well, that’s right, they are. And this bill takes away freedoms I fought for — and a lot of other people around Florida did, too. To me 991 has more than a chilling effect on people’s right to say things — to be quoted or to blog or whatever.” — Dick Batchelor, former state legislator and now president of Dick Batchelor Management Group Inc.
A similar bill, SB 1220, had not been heard as of last week by any committee in the 40-member Senate.
Neither Representatives Andrade, a graduate of the University of Florida School of Law, or Beltran, a Harvard Law School graduate like the governor, returned Florida Weekly requests for comment by press time.
Gov. DeSantis, speaking last month, called for legislators to “protect” citizens from so-called false narratives created by media outlets.
“When the media attacks me, I have a platform to fight back,” he said. “When they attack everyday citizens, these individuals don’t have the adequate recourses to fight back. It would contribute to an increase in ethics in the media and everything if they knew that if you smeared somebody — (if) it’s false and you didn’t do your homework — then you have to be held accountable for that.”
Federal law, based on the 1964 case Sullivan vs. The New York Times, already provides recourse for public figures defamed by media who can demonstrate the presence of malice — an intentional lie. But it protects mistakes by media, made without malice. That’s what happened in the famous Supreme Court case, based not on a news story but an advertisement.
A group of civil rights leaders criticizing the treatment of protestors by police in Montgomery, Alabama, in 1960 took out a full-page advertisement in The New York Times. The ad appeared in print with some minor errors. The Public Safety Commissioner in Montgomery, L.B. Sullivan, felt he’d been defamed and sued the paper, even though he wasn’t named in the ad. The case went to the Supreme Court, which decided by a vote of 9 to 0 that such errors, absent of malice, were protected speech.
In other words, Americans criticizing public figures or agencies have a right to be wrong if their mistakes are not malicious, a view that free-speech apologists and critics of HB991 say protects Americans from all walks of life and political viewpoints — not just professional journalists on the left or right. It encourages citizens to speak freely and to express opinions in good faith, whether or not unpopular, without fear of reprisals that could break them personally or financially.
Current situation
Currently, for example, Fox News is relying on Sullivan vs. The New York Times to defend itself in a $1.6 billion defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems, Inc. Fox continued to broadcast claims the 2020 presidential election was stolen after broadcasters and managers knew those claims to be false, Dominion alleges, pointing to emails or texts from host Tucker Carlson and other Fox employees.
Knowingly and therefore maliciously, Fox broadcast false claims that the company’s voting machines contributed to Trump’s 2020 loss, according to Dominion.
Whether that is the case remains to be decided. But under traditional American law, if the Fox broadcasts were not malicious, even if they were wrong, the company cannot be punished for defamation.
“Dominion and its private equity owners join a long line of public figures and corporations across the country that have long tried to silence the press and this lawsuit from Staple Street Capital-owned Dominion is nothing more than another flagrant attack on the First Amendment. FOX News will continue to fiercely protect the free press as a ruling in favor of Dominion would have grave consequences for journalism across this country,” a spokesperson for FOX News told Florida Weekly.
A multitude of observers, meanwhile, have expressed both incredulity and alarm at HB991.
“Anybody who comes within arm’s length of this bill can recognize that it’s an assault on democracy and free speech,” said Linda Penniman, a former Naples city councilwoman and now president of the board of trustees at the Florida Center for Government Accountability.
“Because Florida has such a broad open records law this is particularly villainous for Floridians — to have our freedoms infringed upon this way. Of all the states, the Sunshine State should not be infringing on free speech,” she added.
“The sponsors of this bill (Andrade and Beltran) must have missed the lecture in their law schools on constitutional law and the First Amendment,” said Peter Bergerson, a professor of public affairs at Florida Gulf Coast University. Early in his teaching career, Professor Bergerson had the late radio talk-show host Rush Limbaugh, then a young college student, in a government class he taught. Mr. Limbaugh made a highly successful career as a rightist political pundit, Professor Bergerson suggested, in part because of protections afforded to Americans by Sullivan vs. The New York Times.
In Article 1, Section 4 of the Florida Constitution, “Freedom of Speech and Press,” these orders appear: “No law shall be passed to restrain or abridge the liberty of speech or of the press. In all criminal prosecutions and civil actions for defamation the truth may be given in evidence.”
The Florida Constitution reflects and echoes the U.S. Constitution.
“I’m not an attorney, but I subscribe to opinions widely held by constitutional scholars and lawyers that this bill would violate the U.S. Constitution,” Professor Bergerson added.
One of those lawyers, Carol LoCicero, a principal of the Tampa-based First Amendment law firm Thomas & LoCicero, traveled to Tallahassee to attend the meeting of the subcommittee on civil justice in the capitol last week, and offer some guidance.
“What I said at the hearing was this: Most of 991 is unconstitutional. It violates our Florida Constitution as well. There are many aspects of this bill that are plain rotten public policy.
“No state legislature can enact laws that violate the First Amendment. Here, we’re not just speculating about issues under the Bill of Rights. Here we have multiple bodies of case law well-tested out over decades, and this violates a lot of those cases.”
Additionally, she pointed out, malice is not the only constitutional problem with the bill.
“There’s a presumption in the bill that says, if you used an anonymous source that’s presumptively false.
“Frist of all, anonymous sources often provide incredible critical information that prompts societal change, and gets at abuses of power — in all kinds of things. To say that’s presumptively false is just not good for society.”
And not just in politics, she insisted.
“There are all levels of anonymous sourcing, such as people who are regular sources who give reporters information on background, information that’s important just to understanding how agencies work.
“And think of all the ‘Me Too’ cases and people who kept their mouths shut publically because they were afraid of powerful men like Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer and Charlie Rose. Anonymous sourcing is important.”
First Amendment implications
Barbara Petersen, a longtime First Amendment lawyer in Florida and now executive director of The Florida Center for Government Accountability, warned that “this bill will have a huge impact on everyday people who are just posting to their Facebook page or Twitter feed. It will have a huge impact on organizations and Fox news kind of people who make assertions and add opinions to their reporting quite regularly. It will get everybody. It’s not about big media.”
One of the most troubling aspects of HB991 in her mind is the prescription to force a defendant who gets sued by a public figure under a new law, and loses, to pay potentially huge and prohibitive attorney fees and court costs.
“They’re flipping things, it’s like who pays in a SLAPP lawsuit,” she said. SLAPP is an acronym for strategic lawsuit against public participation, an effort to intimidate or silence critics who can’t shoulder the costs of their own legal defense and have to drop their criticisms or censor themselves into silence.
“One of the first articles we ever published was about a woman in the Florida Panhandle being sued for defamation by a developer because of a Facebook post,” Ms. Petersen said.
“Rather than becoming a rarity, that will become common with this law. The developer had been known for building in flood zones, and somebody posted they’d bought a house from this developer. The woman’s Facebook reply was as innocuous as, ‘Oh, hope you have good flood insurance.’
“There will be no protection for people like that, no protection for anybody who wants to get involved in their community or voice their opinion.”
Passage of the proposed HB991, she predicted, would result in Florida becoming a destination state not just for the tourists but for the litigious.
At the Florida First Amendment Foundation, executive director Bobby Block, himself a Republican, he noted, worried that some people likely to be lit up by the high beams of this legislation haven’t gotten the message.
“Conservatives in the media sector are very worried by this bill — they see it as a blunt instrument that will impact them as much as anybody else, or more,” he said.
“But, they’re between a rock and hard place.
On the one hand, they’re afraid of this bill if it becomes law. But on the other hand, don’t want to get crosswise with Gov. DeSantis. So they’re gently trying to send signals that they’re concerned, but trying to do it in a soft way.”
That gives rise to his biggest concern.
“Most worrying to me: All the news coverage isn’t really reaching conservative audiences. And so, in many ways, if this does force changes in programming and other things by media outlets, there will be a lot of very upset voters amongst the base in Florida because of how this could impact their viewing and listening habits.”
On his report card, therefore, the bill fails.
“The full bill is horrendous, a blunt instrument, largely unconstitutional. It would have a terrible impact on every media sector: traditional media, liberal media, mainstream and conservative media and social media.
“Anybody who picks up a pen or a microphone or sits at a keyboard, would have to be extraordinarily careful with what they write, print or post.”
Dick Batchelor, a former state legislator and now president of Dick Batchelor Management Group Inc. based in Orlando, consultants in business development, government affairs and public policy, also is a Marine Corps veteran of Vietnam and the bloody Tet offensive of 1968. He traveled to Tallahassee to deliver his opinion about the bill to legislators, in part because he takes it personally, he said.
“Gov. DeSantis likes the quote: ‘Freedoms are worth fighting for.’ Well, that’s right, they are. And this bill takes away freedoms I fought for — and a lot of other people around Florida did, too.
“To me 991 has more than a chilling effect on people’s right to say things — to be quoted or to blog or whatever.
“One thing I learned in the Legislature: The Legislature does not have the power to pass legislation in direct conflict with federal law, I don’t care what it says. That’s No. 1. No. 2, the bill stymies the public’s right to speak out against officials.”
HB991, together with what Mr. Batchelor and others call “the blogger bill” — that’s SB 1316 sponsored by Sen. Jason Brodeur, R-10, requiring bloggers who write about the governor, lieutenant governor, attorney general and some other officials to register with the state — would create a tyranny he calls Orwellian, a reference to George Orwell’s iconic look at tyranny in the novel, “1984.”
“It’s Orwellian to have a package of legislation that in total basically disarms the public of their constitutional rights of free speech,” he said.
“They already passed this in 2014 — Putin passed it, in Russia. Anybody blogging about Putin or the government has to register.” Gov. DeSantis has said he doesn’t support SB 1316.
But in America, and in the Sunshine State, Mr. Batchelor asks, “Why not give as much respect and deference to the First Amendment as you do to the Second Amendment?”
That’s not happening, though. Instead of insisting the government get its hands off American rights as it is doing in newly proposed legislation now before the legislature to take away the current requirement for gun permits, and to reduce the minimum age of gun purchases from 21 to 18, the government is putting its hands all over the First Amendment, seeking to control not guns but speech, he suggested.
As Mr. Block at the Florida First Amendment Foundation concludes, “This is not a Democratic issue, a conservative issue, a liberal issue or a Republican issue. It’s a First Amendment American issue touching everybody.
“Supporters of the Second Amendment are always careful to precisely parse the words in the Second Amendment. Let’s do that with the First Amendment.”
One more thing, he noted:
“The Founding Fathers did not write, ‘we want an accurate press, a trustworthy and hardworking press, a kind and compassionate press.’ Instead, they talked about a FREE press. The right to be sometimes idiotic, but free. An open marketplace of ideas that everyone could be part of. A mix of the sublime and the ridiculous.
“We’ve been doing this for almost 250 years.” ¦

2023.03.27 23:34 curiousperson88 I think my friend is DL and wants me to give him head(long story) Confused

I’m not sure if my friend is DownLow or just gay in the closet
I have been knowing this guy since high school and we recently started hanging out more over the years
He seen me in the club smoking weed and the next day he started asking where the weed is at, it was very odd to me because I wasn’t known for having weed I’ll just smoke it from time to time
Over the years he would ask me to come smoke with him I would not think nothing of it, we would smoke talk about a bunch of random stuff nothing to deep or serious,he has never come on to me or did anything sexual
Over the recent years he has become more and more aggressive towards me asking to work out with me and find ways to be around me and he’s always randomly bringing up how he wants some head or he would bring up a woman and start talking about head , but would not directly say it or ask
When I see him in public he would act like he doesn’t know me and keep it real short but I’m private he will be really friendly
Not sure if I’m missing the signs or just totally oblivious to whats he’s trying to do
I’ve had rumors about me being gay not sure if that’s the reason, I’m still trying to figure out if I am or not, pretty hesitant to do anything with this guy because I’m scared he will try to put our business out their to other DL guys that we did something
I’m not even sure I’m into guys but I’m open to try something just not sure if this is the right person, I caught him taking pictures of me last time we hung out, I don’t want an experiment to lead to shame
