Outside UK: I’m waiting for my visa and my sponsor company asked a group of us to sign for a house even though I was still waiting for my skilled worker visa. The others are in the UK already. I have paid the deposit as the holding fee, visa took longer than expected. The landlord now says they want me to continue to pay monthly rent and the company say this may affect my sponsorship certificate if I don’t pay. Please help, it’s a lot of money.

2023.03.29 08:10 Specialist-Key1543 I (20M) and a girl I met (21F) around 4 months ago have never met or video called and it get's really confusing to fight over text.

So last year, I was in another LDR for about 6 months, it was my first relationship ever, and I really gave my all and loved her very much. We used to call every day but not video call often, except a couple of times. Then one day she told me that she had slept with her ex-boyfriend. I was left broken. She had many responsibilities and family issues (not justifying her actions) which made me empathize with her a lot. Even after we broke up, we continue to call often because we were almost addicted to each other as each other's support system. Then a couple of months later, I meet a girl online and unexpectedly started to like her a lot. I told her that I was still talking to my ex after we had broken up and one day I was feeling so stressed about the situation that I decided to tell the new girl that I need time to sort out things with my ex which will take some time so I can't get serious for the time being. This made her very mad and she told me to stop contacting her until I had sorted things out because she didn't want to come in between anyone. On the same night, I called my ex to sort things out and we kept on talking, she started telling me about her problems and I told her about mine, I told her how I didn't want to talk more, this made me feel guilty however because after breakup, we made an unofficial pact not to date anyone for some time but I couldn't control catching feelings for the new girl. The same night, we ended up having phone sex. It was a mistake, I regret it, I thought I had lost the new girl. It was selfish of me. So the next day, the new girl texts me back apologizing for her being so mad and she was ready to help me throught the situation and wanted us to work. Realizing what I had done was eating me up from inside, I told her everything and to my surprise, she still is willing to take her chances and try being with me. She is very consistent about solving problems instead of stopping to talk. Then the next few days, I tell my ex to stop emailing me and stop communication as much as we can, It's very hard for both of us. My ex literally cried a lot and sent me emotional emails. On the day of the new year's, me and the girl officially became committed to each other, not in a relationship tho but we decided that we would stop pursuing any other romantic interest even though we weren't. A few days later, my ex keeps texting me, she tells me thanks for everything and she really regrets everything, and I understand that but I tell her I can't go on talking like that so we switch to emails. Now she sends me emails once every few weeks, and I told the girl I'm talking to about the emails. She is uncomfortable with those so we have a full blown conversation about those, but all over texts. I have asked her to video call several times, but she says later, I don't want to force her but it's very exhausting trying to talk about such a complex matter over texts, and she told me it's hard for her to trust me after the "phone sex" incident, and I don't blame her, It was a big mistake I made. I also feel like I don't always have a good idea what's going on in her life as well, for example, she once casually mentioned a few weeks ago that she might move out of her family's house next month and today she told me that she is moving out to a new city tomorrow, It came as a bit of a surprise to be honest. I still don't know where is she moving, what job will she have. Texting feels so limiting sometimes. And because both my ex and the girl I'm talking to live in different countries than me, I've never met them, and It could be years before I meet the girl i'm talking to, this makes me even more anxious. I don't know what to do anymore, should I bluntly tell my ex that I like someone now and she shouldn't email me at all now, this does seem a bit harsh because she often feels depressed and it makes a lot of difference in her life if she just sends an emails every few weeks and vent out to me about many things. I know it's unfair for the new girl as well, but I also wish to video call with the new girl and talk about these things face to face, sometimes I don't understand the intent behind the texts, like she asked me "do u want to cancel all the previous agreements about us being committed?", honestly yes, I don't think I'm ready for all those commitments right now but at the same time I don't want to hurt her, she is very nice and understanding, I don't want to take her for granted. I told her "i don't want to do things that would hurt you", and she replied, "i was just saying that anyways, you know what I want". It makes sense to be honest, I have made it hard for her to trust me but I am also not ready for such a commitment, and a big part of it is because I don't feel comfortable cutting out my ex completely because I'm not officially in a relationship, I don't want to feel controlled yet.

Generative AI
Generative AI essentially combines publicly available information and processes it according to user requests, from explaining complex concepts in simple terms to creating visual scenes for specific scenarios. AI can give results to instructions requested within minutes, even if the outputs may not always be convincing. But with enough tweaking, you will eventually get something that could be considered as content generated by humans, provided the topic is generic and you don't expect any personalized elements.

Looking at OpenAI's development over the past few months, it is clear that ordinary users cannot use tools to counter platform monopolies. Between tokens, NFTs, and blockchain sources, the industry has created an ample set of tools to address the wave of fake news and unemployment that will face us in the coming years. This is no longer just about crypto, but about how to build a robust system to prevent AI from producing meaningless content and causing chaos.

Currently trying to make offers on a house that’s part of an estate (probate has been resolved). The property has fallen through twice before, originally as probate took so long (1 year ago) and a couple of months ago when the purchasers own sale fell through.
Last Friday I made an offer of £360k (last purchaser that was accepted offered £380k but was dependent on a sale, my offer is chain free). The estate agent confirmed the offer and indicated it may take a while to get a response. Later that day I was informed the executor was excited by a chain free offer but they’d have to take it to the rest of the family members - as they were hoping for £380k.
5 days later and I haven’t heard anything. We love the house but it needs extensive work and I’m loathed to match the £380k sale that wasn’t chain free.
Any tips on negotiating in this type of scenario? I suspect I need to be start putting expiry dates on offers.

To preface, this is not a complaint nor is it a problem in our relationship.
He comes from money, has never had to struggle with it, actually has master's degrees (which are useless due to our economy), and is making just under $30k/year.
I grew up on food stamps, didn't finish school but due to what I feel is blind luck, have been continuously in my industry for 14 years and worked my way up, bringing in $60k/year.
We both live in our own places (relationship is just under 6 months), and handle our own finances separately as we are paying off our own debts (school and medical). I sometimes help with his groceries if I notice I've been eating a lot at his place but that's about it. I've asked if he would like help with bills sometimes but the answer is always, "No, I'll figure it out." He doesn't mind that I make more than he does and we often joke about how "The Way of the House Husband" (anime on Netflix about a gangster who becomes a live at home husband) might be our future.
I wound up on this train of thought because he got an Amazon Fire tablet from his work. As much as he has some minor complaints about it (ads on lock screen, app store, etc), he uses it so much that I am terrified it is going to break. It's something I could easily afford and adjust my budget for but it's not that easy for him. When I came to this realization in the middle of the night, I squeezed him extra tight and I felt so bad that I nearly cried.
We usually split our dates, and handle our own bills. I have had to slow down / back off because I paid for too many dates in a row so I don't want to overstep any boundaries. Tbh, this relationship is too new to change our financial dynamic. Can anyone else relate and if you do, what advice do you have?
tl;dr: Bf (30m) makes less. Something I (32f) would consider cheap is the greatest thing in the world for him right now and this realization made my heart shatter.

I female have been with my boyfriend for 3 years we have been together since the pandemic first started, lately I have just been feeling just mentally drained and over this relationship.He can’t seem to ever hold a job down we had to move out of our apartment this last October because he couldn’t help me with $200 that we were short for rent. We ended up moving into his mom’s house where his mom and nephew live as well.We have been living here since October I have been working to finish paying off our car also car insurance plus also helping his mom pay for both the light and the water. In that time period he only had one job and only lasted for one month because he would always call in every weekend just because he either didn’t want to go in or was hungover. Another thing I just feel so drained about is his drinking habit and also just going along with everything his mom says and bringing our problems to her for her just to start drama or go and tell everyone our problems. Another reason she doesn’t want him to have a job and wants him to stay there at the house to take care of her and tend to her every need. I get helping your mom but this has passed that limit to where she interferes with his job and our relationship. I just don’t know how much longer I can keep this relationship going when I’m the only one putting in any effort. AITAH for wanting to leave and just being tired of this relationship.

2023.03.29 08:03 Background_Oven_5921 Husband refuses to accept that I want to separate. I've told him several times how I feel and what I want, but he doesn't seem to hear it. I can't keep having these conversations with him, but I feel so so bad for hurting him. How do I get past the guilt?

I need advice and a possible reality check.
Background: My marriage had been in serious trouble for about 3 years. We’d seen a number of counsellors to no avail until coming to the difficult decision that we’d need to separate. Originally, my husband had agreed. While we were in counselling, he often said he thought it would be healthier to divorce, and if nothing changed then he’d have to go through with a divorce.
Fast forward to a few months ago.
In October I initiated separating. He got a new place in early November, but finally moved out at the end of January this year.
We have been technically separated ever since, but so far he has refused to accept this. He thinks this is temporary and that he will be moving back in. Since November last year I have told him that I want to separate and end the marriage. Every time we discuss it, I tell him the same thing (as nicely as is possible with these things) that I don’t want to be together anymore.
But he’s still pressuring me to spend time with him, to have sex with him, and gets very angry with me if I don’t want to do these things. He threatens me about what will happen if he finds out I’ve been seeing other people (I haven’t), and raged at me when he saw I wasn’t wearing my ring anymore.
He’s still around to visit children and tend to the house every now and again which makes it hard. So whenever I see him he acts like we’re still married. And I have to repeat myself every single time, that I don’t want to be together, and every. Single. Time, he cries and loses it and begs me as if it’s the first time he’s ever heard it. He seems so shocked every time I repeat myself and set boundaries, but I’ve been clear about 10,000 times now about what I want. I can’t keep having these conversations with him. It feels like I have to break up with him every weekend.
It’s the guilt that is killing me at the moment. Between the anger and the pressure, he tells me how sad he is. How his life is in limbo and if I would just let him back in all of it would be better. He can’t understand why I’m doing this to him and why I won’t just let him come back home. I’m trying to break out of a habit of people-pleasing at the moment, which is a psychological barrier I’m coming up against in my own head when dealing with him.
I do not want to be with him, but my past habits are clogging up my head to tell me to just give in because it will make him happy.
I think I need advice and a reality check. Part of me feels like this cannot possibly be normal behavior from him, but the other part of me says, well how did you expect him to react? Of course he’s going to be angry. So is it up to me to be stronger (probably meaner), in order to make myself clear? Is this normal? How do I get past the guilt enough to stop myself from giving in?

I got laid off due to a slow down in business a few months ago and was late on my rent a few months in a row. I finally started a new job last week but it’s too little too late as far as my landlord is concerned.
She is posting a 3 day notice to pay rent or deliver possession tomorrow. If it was just me, I’d live in my car. But I can’t let my children be homeless. I’m desperate here. If the $100 isn’t enough interest I’d be willing to negotiate more.

Hi folks,
My wife and I are visiting SF in June and going to a concert at Frost Amphitheater (re:set). I'm on the fence whether to stay in Palo Alto for a night or just book a few nights in SF (looking around Castro/Hayes/Dolores park) and commute to the show and back. I don't plan on renting a car for this part of the trip, so it looks like the train and buses are the likely options.
I'm guessing the concert ends at 11 and Google maps says ~2 hrs commute via a train and NOWL bus. Will this suck? Am I an idiot?
Any alternatives you would consider (uber, helicopter, stay elsewhere)? I'm not sure I saw anything super interesting in Palo Alto, but if there is let me know!

This is very long and very much a first-world problem. The title and TLDR don't really cut it. My apologies in advance.
Background
My husband and I have both gotten offers from our respective employers to attend a one-year training course overseas. He is geting his usual salary, however I am getting an allowance that is basically enough for me to live like a broke student. This isn't really a problem as we both have substantial savings, however my husband is paying about 60% of the rent since he's still getting paid. This course is carried out at a fairly relaxed pace, so we will have lots of time for travel, more than we've ever had in our lives. It's something my husband really wants to do. The deal we made is that I wouldn't say no to his travel plans unless I felt it was an unjustifiable expense. This is because I tend to be more frugal with spending than he is, although he never spends above his means.
We had to fly to our home country in December for my sister's wedding, which we had already agreed to in advance. We had originally planned to stay only a week, but flying back just before Christmas was around $1200 more than it would have normally cost - I think the total cost for one person was around $3000 for a round trip, 12 hours each way. I've flown this route several times in the past and it usually costs about half that. I felt this was an unjustifiable expense, so we stayed two weeks in our home country.
My husband was not very happy about this, but he agreed. He pointed out that the extra money we would have spent on the earlier flight wouldn't have made a difference in the long run. I didn't totally agree because the I felt that that flight was intrinsicially not worth the money, but I saw his point and I knew that he really wanted to travel, so I apologised. We also did a five-day trip right after flying back. We've since done two more trips and have a third one planned next month.
Conflict
My husband wants to go on a fifth trip next month. I was reluctant to do so because I have some assignments for my course due at the end of the month. He was disappointed. Yesterday he asked again if I was adamant that I wouldn't go on the trip. I said it was possible and I'd just do a hack job on my assignments. After all, I don't have to do well - I just have to pass, and I know I will pass.
He got really upset and - this is where we disagree - said I should have graciously offered to go without him asking, as a form of making amends for making us stay an extra week in our home country. I don't think this is a fair expectation - surely it's good enough that I offered to go despite the inconvenience it would cause me?
I tried to put myself in his shoes and figure out what the real problem is, based on the long-ass argument we had. He feels that his wife basically broke the agreement that was made earlier, and now me saying that I'd just do a hack job on my assignments made it sound like a grudging yes, rather than the full-on enthusiasm he was hoping for is. Since the onus was on me to make amends, I should have volunteered for the trip before he even had to ask. It seems he is tired of taking on the mental load of planning our travels - basically the You Should Have Asked of travel planning. I can see that.
Husband is demanding an apology. And yet...part of me doesn't want to apologise because I don't feel that I was entirely in the wrong, and if I do apologise, it feels like I'm accepting that I'm entirely to blame for the situation. We're currently in different time zones (had to fly home for a work thing) and not talking because I can't find it in myself to give a sincere apology.
TL;DR: Husband thinks I should have offered to travel with him without him asking, I don't think it's fair that I'm expected to read his mind

2023.03.29 08:02 Eyesinside Questions after death of Syrian hamster.

Hey guys. Hopefully this is allowed to be asked.
I had purchased a Syrian after my old winter white died in his sleep ( 3 weeks apart) .
The cage is pretty big, it’s the zolux neo nigha ( it is called like that ). I put living world fresh n comfy bedding ( paper ) with at least 4-5 inches deep. It has a silent wheel, a litter box, a wood tower filled with bedding to make nest, another house to hide, food bowl and I used to have a water bowl but changed for a quality no drip bottle. Everything was cleaned with anti-bacterian before putting the new hamster.
I bought the Syrian hamster on Sunday and chosen him because he seemed young and seemed really tranquil.
Once home I put him in I feed him the pellets I used to give the winter white but he was really not interested. I gave him a bit of mixed grains so make him interested ( that’s what they were giving him at the pet shop. )
I left him alone the first day. On second after coming back I would grab him a bit to place him so food and see if he would drink water from the bottle, he did drink. Didn’t pick him up long only had in mind to acclimate him to humans gently.
On Tuesday I saw that his butt was all wet and I did watch videos on YouTube saying that was a dangerous.
I went to emergency vet, cost me 350$ Canadian and was given antibios and powder food to mix with water and feed with seringue. I also had him injected something on his back that would make him hydrated.
He seemed really energetic, I would feed him his antibio and seringue food morning and evening. He even was holding the seringue with his teeth firmly to want more, even before going to bed on Thursday. I even gave him a bit of mixed grain that day with the indications of a technician at the vet center since he wasn’t interested to the pellets.
Then on Friday morning when I went to do the usual, he was really cold and curled up. Was really sluggish and struggling.
Vet said that he was suffering badly and that it was not possible to make him better. I accepted the euthanasia, assisted to it. I won’t share much of my emotions but that left me with questions.
Is that usual for that to happen to Syrians? Do you know what could have happened and if I might have made a mistake ( so it doesn’t happen again if I ever adopt another one ). The only thing that the vet said might have happened is that his intestine might have went inside each others because of the diarrhea.
