Mexican Drug Cartels Apparently Think Skilled GTA Online Players Make Great Meth Mules
2023.03.29 08:42 StepwiseUndrape574 Mexican Drug Cartels Apparently Think Skilled GTA Online Players Make Great Meth Mules
I have no personal frame of reference for this opinion, but I imagine being a drug runner for the Mexican cartel (or any cartel) is loads more fun in a video game setting than in real life. The latter pays more I'm sure, but the stress, risk to life and limb, and persistent threat of jail time have me convinced to stick with legal employment. Not so for some GTA Online gamers who thought it a good idea to become meth mules.
It sounds wild (because it is), but apparently drug cartels sometimes use online multiplayer video games as a source for new blood. Back in October of last year, for example, Mexico's assistant public safety secretary, Ricardo Mejía, said a cartel recruiter purchased bus tickets for three teenagers between 11 and 14 years old.
The recruiter found the teens on Garena Free Fire, a popular online game, and offered them each $200 per week to serve as lookouts for the cartel. Authorities detained the teens before they boarded the bus, but Mejía told ABC News that other cartels have also recruited drug mules and lookouts through video games, including Call of Duty, Gears of War, and Grand Theft Auto V.
Now three months later, Forbes says it discovered that US officials have evidence showing GTA Online is also used as a recruitment tool for drug cartels.
It's not clear how long this has allegedly been going on, but according to the site, border agents stopped and inspected a Jeep Cherokee in Arizona last November and found almost 60 kilograms of methamphetamine. The driver, Alyssa Navarro, said a man named George first contacted her in GTA Online, through which they got to know each other over time.
Those in-game chats later pivoted over to Snapchat, where George raised the idea of being a runner, albeit for electronics to be sold in Mexico. Navarro claims she was offered up to $2,000 per trip, depending on the size of the load.
The only problem for Navarro is that the cartel allegedly hid meth in the Jeep's fuel tank. Authorities have charged Navarro with conspiracy to import and sell meth, and also possession, charges for which she has pleaded not guilty.
It remains to be seen how that case will turn out. Suffice to say, though, if someone online propositions you for an offer that seems too good to be true—or is outright illegal—it's best to politely decline.

| Hi everyone! I just purchased a 2021 Charger GT with 33k miles. It replaced a 2020 Grand Cherokee that was infested with electrical gremlins and Jeep NA wouldn't fix it since it was a Canadian market vehicle. Anyhow, is there anything I need to look out for? It has the Blacktop option with the Super Track Pak. It's also my first red vehicle since my first ever vehicle in 1986, a '77 Jeep J10! submitted by MsKlinefelter to Charger [link] [comments] |

2023.03.29 00:42 Huge_Still_1005 2001 4.0L Grand Cherokee Crank position sensor
| Hello! We have a real Mystery on our hands, The plug I'm the above picture came off and 2001 Jeep Grand cherokee, it was attached to a Crankshaft position sensor, the guy who was putting in the transmission broke the pull off. Now when we look up the sensor it come up with a 3 wire sensor. This plug is a 2 wire plug and it's a female. The plug its self only come up with a temperature sensor but this plug was directly connected to the crank sensor. We found another jeep for parts but the plug was 3 wire om that one. No one I call can figure it out! The harness doesn't look spliced it looks factory and I just simply can not find this plug connected to anything but a Temp sensor. I don't know what to do. submitted by Huge_Still_1005 to MechanicAdvice [link] [comments] |

Looking at purchasing a 2023 Grand Cherokee Summit 4X4. As I spec it out online the only option is the 850RE Transmission. Most local dealers around me match my requirements other than they have the 8HP50 instead.
Can someone explain the difference?

I recently upgraded from the S10 to the S23. The S10 worked perfectly with the uconnect system in my 2011 Jeep grand cherokee but the s23 plays audio to fast and cuts in and out. Has anyone else had an issue like this? I have completely unpaired and repaired multiple times.

2023.03.28 21:48 schrader-nick Looking for a Jeep Grand Cherokee mechanic that is not a part of a dealership
Trying to find a local mechanic that has experience working on Grand Cherokees. I am currently located in New Albany
Currently experiencing some oil leakage that’s not coming from my oil tank. One of my friends who works on his own jeep said it might be the PCV valve or something caused by the oil cooler. I also believe I am burning some oil.
Thank you in advance

2023.03.28 19:59 KryptoDrops Should I sell my jeep?
Curious on whether or not I should keep my Jeep. It’s a 2018 Grand Cherokee v8. I work from home and really don’t drive much, maybe 25-30 miles a week so it still has super low miles(under 30k). I was thinking of selling, and just buying a cheaper car with the remaining cash to have no payment, but not sure if that’s worth it since it’ll take around 40 months of the $297 payment to get to $12.000 but not sure if I’m thinking of that right.
Loan details: $11,937.84 remaining at 3.73% APR, 43 remaining payments. Insurance: $125 Private party KBB: $26,431-$29,254 Trade in: $24,077-$26,602

I have seen a few articles now detailing the mid-cycle refresh for the 2024 wrangler including a larger uconnect screen, a digital gauge cluster, upgraded heavy duty axle, and a few other improvements. I have about a year left on my Grand Cherokee lease and want to go back to a wrangler and have been looking at 2023 rubicon or rubicon 4xe lease. Do you think it's better to try and get a deal on a 2023 before the refresh as i'm sure they will be trying to clear them off the lots or wait for the 2024 to get the upgrades? Thanks!
