2023.03.29 07:56 NoSun694 Phonology and phonotactics of Ghetar
Hey guys, so I wanted to update you on my previously unnamed conlang... I've finally given it a name! I've overhauled the phonology since last time and revamped some of the phonotactics and I was wondering what you guys think. I've tried to make it a little more naturalistic than it was previously, this is my first ever attempt at a more naturalistic lang, I won't go as far as to call it a natlang though as I'm still taking some artistic liberties in the overall design of it. Anyways let me know what you guys think, I took into consideration your previous comments on my formatting so lets take a look.
https://preview.redd.it/3apdhnnuamqa1.jpg?width=642&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=61ee7c3c1eccddf8e80939a76d96739bd0c4cb4f Also here are some extra phonotactics I've worked on, remember guys, this is my first attempt at a "good" conlang so don't be too harsh haha.
(C)(C)V(C)(C) All consonants can be the onset except
, consonants allowed in the coda are:, , , , , , , , , , , , . The nucleus can consist of all vowels and dipthongs.
This is all a proto version of the final product, let me know your thoughts and suggestions!!

There is a certain aura, a cultural meme, regarding the United Nations Armed Forces. A very particular version of events that is peddled across the galaxy, generally the result of an interstellar game of telephone. This aura is that of an unflinching, uncaring war machine. One that starts with the goal of total destruction of its opponents, and works towards that by any means necessary.
It is easy to see how this came about. Even putting aside the pre Contact War conflicts, there is plenty of brutality to be found. The exploits of Spearhead Platoon during the Second Hekatian War, fighting it's way from the Susquehanna to the palace of the Hekatian Emperor, has particularly dominated the popular consciousness for many, and it is difficult to argue they did not experience some of the worst the war had to offer. A still frame of Corporal Heppell, gas mask concealing all but his eyes, half a second away from plunging his plasma-enhanced bayonet into a Hekatian platoon commander, has become one of the most reproduced images of the whole Battle of New York.
While plasma bayonets were only issued to a small portion of British units during the Second Hekatian War, melee fighting still occupied a disturbingly high proportion of the wars with the Hekatians a modern war. The Battle of London (both 2021 and 2025) saw civilians armed with little more than axes and clubs achieving at least some success against mechanised Hekatian forces in the tight urban confines of the city, with their contributions in the Second Hekatian War forming a part of the critical force that halted the Hekatian offensive. Less well commemorated, but by no means less brave, was the near-complete annihilation of the 8th Battalion Rajputana Rifles in the opening phases of the Battle of New Delhi. Caught out-of-position by the surprise landing of Hekatian forces, the soldiers rushed into battle against a far-superior Hekatian force. By the day's end, only 3 soldiers survived from the entire ordeal, but their counterattacks, waged with everything from rifles to chunks of rubble used as clubs, successfully held up the better part of a division for some critical hours. Doubtless similar stories exist across every front of the war.
Infantry fought with all manner of weapons, with KPA forces famously utilising shovels and large quantities of grenades while fighting from trench to trench on the slopes of Mt. Paektu. During the later stages of the Battle of New York, Gurkha units roamed the irradiated rubble of the city, wielding plasma-enhanced kukris: this was so extraordinarily effective that Hekatian units in the Brooklyn area had a bounty set on the weapons, on the basis that each collected meant another of the feared soldiers had been eliminated, and that soldiers would be more watchful in hopes of collecting said bounty. The actual effect was that the number of losses credited to Gurkha units went up, as their soldiers (now aware of just how effective they were) delved deeper and deeper into psychological warfare. Meanwhile, Hekatian soldiers became so jumpy that they often exposed themselves to Human forces by firing away at nonexistent targets, and were so nervous as to lose all composure when engaged. When the United Nations counterattack successfully trapped a large quantity of supply-starved Hekatians in the radioactive ruins of New York, an intimidation campaign of such ferocity was launched that even a century later headless Hekatians are occasionally located within the New York area.
There are, of course, other ways to be brutal than a bayonet or bullet.
The Second Hekatian War, for example, saw the mass deployment of nerve gas against Hekatian forces landing in Southern England, with this considered to be the single deadliest event in the history of warfare (excluding attacks targeted at civilian populations). True numbers on the death toll are hard to come by, but it is estimated these attacks alone killed roughly 100,000 Hekatians, unprepared for the gas as they were exiting their ships, with an unknown number severely wounded. This is at present the only confirmed deployment of chemical weapons in either war: rumours persist of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea having used significant quantities during the fighting across the Korean Peninsula, and into Northeastern China. To this day, neither the People’s Republic of China, nor the Korean Federal Republic have confirmed these rumours, and all files regarding the status of the DPRK’s chemical arsenal have been sealed away until 2155.
Chemical weapons were not the only weapons of mass destruction brought out in desperate defence of Earth. Biological weapons were deployed, albeit in significantly less flashy ways. Though continuously denied by the United Nations to this day, all evidence indicates that a modified form of Tularemia was deployed against Hekatian forces in the United States. By all accounts, this was extraordinarily effective in shattering Hekatian morale, along with generally degrading their ability to resist United Nations counterattacks. This disease, relatively minor as far as biological weapons go, was generally non-lethal, and thus believed acceptable to be used against the Hekatians without causing further escalation if discovered.
Currently, there is significant reason to believe the Hekatians may have deployed biological weapons of their own, which may later have morphed into the infamous Cincinnati Flu, though this is highly controversial amongst war historians, and is believed to have occurred independently of the use of Tularemia. It is also worth noting that declassified British documents speak openly of a large stockpile of anthrax being distributed across the island at the start of the Second Hekatian War, with the intent being to release it en masse as a form of vengeance should Britain fall. Still uncertain is why, even a century after the war and the collapse of the Hekatian Stellar Imperium, several Hekatian-majority worlds (including, most infamously, Kulabaddos) semi-routinely see severe outbreaks of a disease worryingly similar to H1N1.
The most destructive WMDs in pure terms were the InterStellar Faster-than-light Missiles. Effectively the old idea of the Relativistic Kill Vehicle, except with a hyperdrive strapped to them, they saw very little use across the war, except for a few carefully calculated deployments by United Nations forces. Using stolen missiles, the Muaytrov and Hualkinov anchorages were utterly destroyed, followed by the military staging post of Traxio.
But these are not the weapons of mass destruction thought of when the Second Hekatian War springs to mind.
In the course of the Second Hekatian War, nukes were tossed around in large numbers. City after city across the United States of America fell victim to Hekatian nukes, while American strikes (generally tactical in nature, directed at concentrations of Hekatian forces and key command and control sites) usually invited yet more retaliation. Historians are unable to come to much of a conclusion on the effectiveness of this strategy by the American military, in no small part due to the difficulties of credibly predicting what would have happened without it. It is arguable that these attacks were responsible for the collapse of Hekatian morale and eventual widespread mutinies: this can also be attributed to any of hundreds of factors. It must be noted, though, that the Hekatians began the nuclear game with the destruction of Washington DC, and that ultimately all responsibility lies with them.
After the war, there was much debate on the morality of this action, rather than just the efficacy. It was declared by some that Humanity, now no longer in an existential fight for it's liberty and potentially survival, was in a "post-nuclear" age, where it could step away from these insanely destructive weapons. While this did hold for biological and chemical weapons, it simply could not for nuclear weapons, as the reality of maintaining an effective military on the interstellar scale quickly caught up. Nukes are fielded in what could be described as a liberal amount: fashioned into Nuclear Explosively Formed Projectiles or Casaba-Howitzers, they form the backbone of the Stellar Navy’s anti-ship missile arsenal. Special forces units have routinely made use of sub-kiloton devices in the Rigel Campaign, and conventional forces maintain large stockpiles for tactical usage. Even the famous SIM-94, defender of the skies, is more commonly than not fielded with a nuclear warhead of some sort.
These are carefully calculated tactical uses, yes. A Casaba-Howitzer melting a warship is a far different thing than the nuclear bombardment of Los Angeles, both in scale and morality. But most commanders do still hesitate when they order a nuclear strike in an exercise. Failsafes abound for all devices intended for anti-ship purposes to prevent their usage in other ways, while devices for use as bombs are subject to hyper-strict command-and-control procedures. ISFMs are subject to even stricter control, since their misuse could devastate an unshielded planet.

2023.03.29 07:50 very_gamer3595 Life is a Highway vs. Life is a Highway
I've wanted to explain my opinions on the Tom Cochrane and Rascal Flatts versions of this song for a while but didn't know who to rant to so I figured this would be a good place. I actually didn't hear this song from Cars first; my dad plays in a band and loves older rock music and he used to play the Tom Cochrane version on long car rides. I did then hear it in Cars, and I remember liking it a lot. However, I only recently learned that there were two versions by two different artists, which I guess I was too young to notice the first time. So I listened to both, realized that they were, in fact, different songs, and started comparing what I liked and didn't like about both versions. And the list I made is what this post is about. (This is all personal opinion obviously, don't take anything I say too seriously)
Pros of the Tom Cochrane version: - The chorus, in my opinion, is soooo much more impactful than the Rascal Flatts version. He sounds like he's putting way more into it and it's one of the reasons I liked this song to begin with. The backing vocals also add a layer that the Rascal Flatts version completely omits and it definitely detracts from the overall listening experience.
- The harmonica. I know, it's cheesy, but... it's cool. The other version is all guitar, and although it's good sounding guitar, it gets a little old. Also, the harmonica in the instrumental part is way cooler than the guitar solo.
- The drums, specifically at the beginning and scattered throughout the chorus. Their echo sounds distinct and really unique compared to the flatter drums in the newer version.
Pros of the Rascal Flatts version:
- The verses. This is definitely where this song shines in my opinion. There's a TON of built-up energy going into the second chorus, although the choruses themselves being lackluster makes the buildup not really lead to much. The volume, tone, and overall steadiness of the verses definitely makes the original look bad in comparison.
- The production. This one's pretty much a given, considering how much newer this version is. Still, though, the guitars sound nice and meaty, and make the verses even more groovy than they already were. I actually don't think the chorus benefits from the heavier guitars, but that's probably bias as I'm more used to the airy sound of the original.
Anyway yeah that's basically all. If I had to sum it up, I'd say that the Tom Cochrane version is a bit more of a mixed bag, but when it picks up momentum in the chorus, it's better than anything the Rascal Flatts version has to offer. The Rascal Flatts version is more steady throughout, and while it doesn't have the unique flair and very high highs of the original, it does have better production throughout and spreads the catchiness more effectively throughout the song. Overall I still prefer the original version, but what do you think?

2023.03.29 07:46 holyshiftt Lag/stutter while in 25 man raids and major cities, help?
Hello everyone, so im having some wow graphical issues like stutters without fps dropping and need some help fixing issues. Lag appears mainly on 25man raids and major cities, open world content is much better. It all started when i made changes to some of the PC components because i bought UW monitor. The components that i've changed is:Monitor - from 2k 27'' to 34 UW (xiaomi mi), then upgraded GPU to RX6800, PSU from 450w to 750W, changing wireless adapter to a bettefaster one. Must say that i've tried some other GPu's before purchasing 6800 and i had the same issues. (tried 3070 8gb, 3060ti).Running ryzen 5 3600.Gigabyte b450 aorus elite16gb 3200Mhz RAM
Retail WoW and other games like HGW legacy run very smooth without any issues on max settings.Things that i tried doing:
Played with all graphic settings in WoWTried all DirectX versionsClean installed WoW and AddonsClean installed all the graphics driversTried OC'ing RAM, CPU, GPUDisable addons one by one (disabling all of them reduces stuttering but only by a tiny bit)Changing back to old monitorReplacing DisplayPort cableTried all AMD adrenallin settingsUpdated BiosBought second, faster SSD, installed WoW there with win 10 (and its even worse)
Must say im having some latency issues (40 to 50ms) but i dont think thats a big deal (or maybe it is?)Posting a short video a little time ago of running around in dalaran sewers, where the stutter is really small compared to raids (will raid tonight so i will try and make a recording from there). Thanks to all help in advance.

2023.03.29 07:41 StepwiseUndrape574 Huge GTA 6 Leak Claims Rockstar’s New RAGE9 Graphics Engine Is Incredible
Besides offering up chaotic open-world action, one thing that Rockstar's games have done ever since Grand Theft Auto III is push the envelope in terms of technology. This is somewhat debatable up to Grand Theft Auto IV, which stunned audiences with its mix of macro-scale simulation and micro-scale detail. GTA V and the newer Red Dead Redemption 2 have continued this tradition, and both are still capable of putting the hurt on modern PCs. That's largely thanks to their forward-looking design that integrates features that contemporary systems weren't really ready for when the released.
gtaonlinerain GTA V can still look startlingly realistic at times.
The thing is, even though it just got a re-release on the current-generation consoles, GTA V originally released in 2013. The game's still fun, of course, especially the online mode that has seen continual updates over the years. The technology behind the title is getting a little dated, though, and fans of the series are understandably chomping at the bit for a new release. Rockstar has confirmed that GTA VI (or at least, the next GTA game) is in the works, but as usual, the company hasn't released any information about the title, nor mentioned a release window.
The leaks and rumors that we've heard so far place a hypothetical "GTA VI" at the end of next year, or even in 2025. That's a lot of development time, even if the company only moved into active development in the middle of last year, as is supposedly the case. In a time when almost every other development house (from Square-Enix to CD Projekt Red) is moving to the Unreal Engine, it seems like Rockstar will thankfully stick with its own in-house tech, known as RAGE.
chrisklippeltweet
That bit of information comes from a tweet by Chris Klippel, who is among other things the creator of Rockstar Mag, a French-language gaming news site that focuses on topics surrounding Rockstar Games and its releases. You can see the tweet above. Chris says that he has been in touch with people who have seen the latest version of RAGE in action, and that its graphics engine is "assez incroyable." Chris describes the latest version as RAGE9, which is interesting; Rockstar doesn't talk about RAGE as a separate product from its games, likely because it doesn't license the tech.
gtaonlinearcade The arcade area added to GTA Online would look amazing with ray-traced lighting.
It's not hard to imagine what sort of features the game engine might include to warrant that description. Heavy usage of ray-traced graphics will go a long way toward impressive presentation, but based on what we've heard in the past about GTA VI, it seems likely that the latest RAGE might be more impressive in its ability to scale content from infinitesimal details all the way up to gigantic cityscapes. We've seen demonstrations of similar technology in Epic Games' Unreal Engine 5, and given the nature of "GTA", such capability would be perfectly suited to the games.
gta5crowd
Another impressive characteristic in GTA VI might just be the NPC AI. Historically, Grand Theft Auto's NPCs have been extremely simple stand-ins mostly intended to give the scene a realistic look without having much in the way of personality or believable behavior. That could all change in the next GTA game, based on a patent filed in October 2020.
From what we've heard, the next Grand Theft Auto title will be set in Vice City once again, so look forward to exploring the city's tropical environs. No word on the chronological setting, though; it could be set as far back as the Cuban Missile Crisis, or it could be set in the modern day. We also don't know necessarily what platforms the title will appear for, but based on Rockstar's history, we'd expect it to be available for the PS5 and Xbox before it appears on PC later.

2023.03.29 07:35 88Dubs Motherly duty?
TL;DR RIGHT UP TOP!!! This is a doozy, kids! WHEWY!!! This might be my longest odyssey yet. Basically, this twat wanted to give up on her addict son and leave him rotting in jail. She asked me to basically validate her, since I'm a former addict and apparently free counciling, and more or less called me the same lost cause when I didn't give her the answer she wanted. The only reason she
hasn't is because of the imaginary obligations of her "Motherly Duty"; which she's trying to find a god damned loophole out of through the magic of "It's ok, I have an addict friend who says so". She was never fit to be a fucking mother in the first place.
Grab yer popcorn!
Peer counciling is no easy task. It's hard to find the line between "sound advice that may be hard to hear" and "I want to shake you until tangible stupid dislodges itself from your brainstem".
Now... for
some god damned reason or another, I keep getting referred clients who are A) MUCH older than me, and B) Fucking parents. This is NOT a story about one of them, because I don't violate HIPAA on reddit like a slobbering paint glutton.
No, this tale of the tot-popping twit comes from a co-worker. See... being a Peer councilor seems to give the other, NON-COUNCILING people in my organization the impression that I'm free therapy. So they timidly knock on my door from time to time to just kinda... y'know, get some stuff off their chest... if I have a minute? (I usually don't, but you already closed the fucking door, so I'm just in
this cocytus now...)
Now again, I have clients that are older than me, and are parents, and this particular co-worker... let's call her Steph... fit both of those demographics sans the pesky treatment referral. But, unlike those clients and my afformentioned antipathy for paint gluttony, Steph comes ALSO sans a confidentiality agreement, ipso facto, the lead base. CHOW TIME!
She began with the question "how do you talk to parents about drug's effects on the family?"
"Uh... depends on who's using them. Seeing as most of my clients are, themselves, in recovery, I typically talk about setting an example and generational cycles and such"
"Well, I don't know if any of them have children who use too?..."
(What part of generational cycles did you not-? Ugh...)
"Some, I suppose, but I tend to keep the focus on the client and emphasize that their recovery comes first. Do you... need a referral for-?"
"NO!!"
(Hey, don't get pissy at the batter for swinging at a line drive tee-up)
She goes on to explain that her son has been addicted to [yes... just yes] since he was 16 (we'll get to that later), now going on 34. He's in prison now, mainly because of something called
Casey's Law. She's beside herself, because she doesn't know what to do about him anymore... and....
Look,
FAR be it from me to
EVER judge or codemn a parent whose kid just happened to fall in a bad way. I was an addict too, and I would absolutely
never blame my parents for my hard nose-dive. And if this was a conversation about how Steph just didn't know how to get him the help he needs anymore?Or just wants her son back? Or even just "I don't know how we got here, and I don't know what to do next"?? Well, I wouldn't be taking 5,000 words to just get to the part where my blood-filled eyes are seeing jostleable handlebars on this pro-sterilization argument's fucking neck.
... AND... She just wants to know how much she should have to put up with as part of her motherly duty.
.... Let me say that again, there was a bit of a side tangent jammed in there.
"She doesn't know what to do about him anymore, and wants to know how much more SHE HAS TO PUT UP WITH.... as
PART OF HER MOTHERLY DUTY" .....Bitch, two things. 1) Why are you asking a
CHILDLESS DUDE who is TWO YEARS YOUNGER THAN YOUR SON what the parameters of tolerance are for
MOTHERLY FUCKING DUTY? and 2), and stay with me on this one, You wouldn't be asking that
CHILDLESS DUDE (can't stress that enough) if you haven't
already given up, and are now just looking for some validation for cutting ties with your Lifescript
TM plot device gone ad-lib. You
WANT to leave him in that cell you Casey Lawed his ass into, and never have to deal with the shame of your perceived failure as a parent again. And now you want ME to tell you that's ok!
Now, I should've just capped this conversation at the knees with some dumbass stock platitude and said "Oh look at the time, next appointment is coming in, buh-bye now, good talk". But nope, logic went right out the roof with my blood pressure.
I did actually ask her "Why would a childless 32 year old man know anything about motherly duty?". I didn't care that I came off as rude, I
SHOULD'VE said my little 2-parter up there out loud as written. But, that alone was enough for her victim switch to short-circuit.
"Well, I'm
asking because you have experience talking to clients about addiction and what it does to the family!" (Note, she's say thUH family, in that really irritating 80's
D.A.R.E infomercial way)
"Was he stealing from you? Engaging in reckless behavior? When did it get so dire?"
Yeah, he did do some covers of the "Addicts Greatest Hits", stole money from purses, got put in the drunk tank a few times, got in a lot of pretty heated arguments with thUH family (HURGH). However, compared to some of the shit I've heard my clients talk about, he was more the "Kidz Bop" version. Still bad, but not anywhere
near as hopeless as she was implying.
"Are you asking because you want to know how to take steps to repair it? Or are you asking what the threshold is to stop
trying?"
Oh, look, her face and my vision are the same shade of red now!
"Well, when
YOU were a drunk, when did your family finally get sick of you?"
OOOOOOHHHH.... BITCH...
"Without dignifying your assumption that they did, I made the choice for
myself to change and get better, but only through a calm, but stern, sit-down discussion with my family.
"So they were probably about to kick you out, or what?"
(I will snap those handlebar hallucinations on your neck with my FUCKING TEETH, YOU HARPY CU-)
"
WHERE they clearly expressed their worry and outlined the harm I was doing to them in a non-accusatory way. They respected me enough to trust that I would recognize what I was losing, and told me they would be there for me when I was ready. But they were going to start keeping their distance"
"So they
were sick of you"
(Not as sick as I am of you fucking breathing)
"
NO. I never felt forced, I never felt abandoned, and I sure as shit never felt
DEALT with. They talked to me out of genuine concern,
NOT exhaustion"
"Well I
tried talking to him, but he wouldn't get help, so it was jail or finding him dead!"
"Did you maybe try talking to him about
why he turned to the vices that he did, especially at such a young age? What drove him to self-medicate that he couldn't resolve? Or did you just give him the Rehab or Jail ultimatum?"
She's just short of yelling at this point. Something something "his shitty friends", "his father was a drunk" (oh, hey, there's that GENERATIONAL THING AGAIN!!), "I can't talk to him about boy things" (won't... in fact, you won't talk to him, period. That would take effort.)
Yeah, if you're not piecing it together by now, she was emotionally absent with him, never tried to talk to him early on or when he hit some kind of emotional turmoil, didn't try to steer him away from his father's example, let him do whatever the fuck he wanted with whatever crowd, and basically took no responsibility whatsoever for him derailing. Now she wants to just keep him stored in a fucking cell so he doesn't fucking inconvenience her anymore and make her look bad. She clearly did nothing wrong (BIG /s), and I'll certainly agree with the "nothing" part, but now wants to be vindicated of having to care anymore.
Well, Steph, you gave up before leeching my time, and now need someone to endorse you deflecting the harsh potential reality of procreating coming to pass. Your selfishness, fragile pride, and self-absolution from personal accountability does not need my blessing. You arguably were never a mother with that supposed "duty" to begin with. Just a sad husk of breed-regret. Now go back to your fucking office and, at the
very least, fulfill the duty of whatever the fuck I don't care to remember what you do here to dodge your failed motherhood.

2023.03.29 07:32 loomplume how does inf Te manifest?
As an ISFP, I realize that the majority of the problems in my professional life come down to consolidating my own rational framework of how to do things with the reasoning that others may collectively use to navigate outside systems. I do what makes sense to me, but I also want to do what makes sense to others--the problem is I still end up doing what makes sense to me because it is so difficult for me sometimes to wrap my head around the systematics and ways that others want things to be done. And even if I really try, I always seem to get something wrong. I get trapped in my head with "what they want vs what they want as I understand it" and my trickster Ne doesn't make it any better--not only do I sometimes not know how to do things or keep up with external, systematic details in my head, I also have a tendency due to Ni to neither see nor understand the reason why something needs to be done in a certain way if the bigger picture is just that it gets done. I don't understand why certain systems matter to people so much, sometimes it seems they are being maintained just for the sake of it--I have the ability to see the ideal of those systems put into perfect motion, but I simultaneously don't think the ideal is necessary and even find it boring at times, for things to be perfect and rigid, often just nitpicky and pedantic things. For example, say I'm a chef following a recipe, but am having a particularly difficult time mastering a specific cooking technique in the traditional way that it is performed. So instead, to compensate, I innovate (where you at ISFPs). As a result of how difficult I find it to follow directions and manage all of the little rationalizations and systematic details in my head, I find or create an equally effective method that yields the same if not better results. But I am criticized for this approach because it is not the standard and I am responsible for knowing that way and doing it that way on a professional level. So I go on and on trying to do something could technically come naturally to me, but in an unnatural way, leading to delays in my progress and development in my career.
I get confused so, so easily. My rationalizations clash with others' and I have a very difficult time using them both to my advantage without one overpowering the other. It's either completely my way (which will still complete and accomplish the goal--I would make sure of it as part of the process of finding the new way itself), or completely "their" way, which will be inefficient for me because I will do it poorly and need more time to do it. It would also be very mentally and emotionally taxing for me not to be able to keep some of my own creativity in the mix. It's either be a normal ISFP or be a robot version of an ISFP. There seems to be no in between for me. And when I try to hard to adhere to others, it then becomes even more difficult when they change up their own system and a lot just becomes implied from the cumulative knowledge of the original system. It creates a lot of cognitive dissonance and could lead to some pretty depressing identity issues. (incompetent, useless, unintelligent, incapable, burdensome, etc). I was wondering if anyone else knew of some ways that inf Te could manifest, and whether or not this is on par with the worst of it. lol...

Hello, I’m new to this Reddit and to modding in general! I have only done it manually through forge before, but recently downloaded ATLauncher, and it works great cause I don’t have to do anything! BF and I downloaded specifically the BetterMC modpack, which comes with a bunch of stuff.
The problem comes with when we found one of the cold towers and put all the soul stars, the Lich spawned, started throwing stuff at us, and then flew up into the air and disappeared. His health bar also disappeared, but we obtained one soul star after he left.
My BF thinks it’s because we left the tower, but we didn’t step more than I want to say a five blocks out of the tower, and the Lich was further away from the tower than us. When I hover over the altar you put the soul star in, it does say it’s from Bosses of Mass Destruction (beta) so I don’t know if that’s maybe why, and we need an updated version instead of the one that came with the pack.
Anyway, we’re just confused lol and a little upset we have to get all the soul stars back if it was just a glitch and he despawned! If anyone has any information we would greatly appreciate it! Thank you :)!
TLDR: Night Lich spawned and then flew up into the sky and disappeared, we don’t know why!

2023.03.29 07:19 R4nd0mB01 Ideas for some kollections, remasters and remakes
Ideas for some kollections of older games.
MK Arcade Kollection- (yes very original name)
Nothing fancy just emulated arcade versions of MK1, 2 UMK3, and 4. Unlockables: the different ports of each game Genesis, SNES, PS1, Dreamcast, maybe even MK Trilogy
MK 3D Trilogy-
Deadly Allience, Deception, and Armageddon, all remastered in HD, or possibly even remade, but I feel like infividual remakes of each game would help each game be as fleshed out as they can be, maybe some new characters. Unlockables: Unchained from the PSP, a portable version of Deseption. Maybe some never before seen artwork of the cut characters from this era of games.
MK Shalion Munks Remaster or Remake-
I've heard good things about this game and I think it deserves to be on modern consoles, by the looks of it, it seems to be pretty fun, but I'm sure someone who has played this game can speak for me better.
MK Mythologies, and Special Forces Remakes-
Hear me out on this one, those games weren't very good in the majority's opinion, but have time in care into the main story and do whatever with it. Think the Resident Evil 2, 3, 4, and Final Fantasy 7 Remakes. Have Ed Boon as a producer or something so that these games could be something better.
Everything beyond this point is already pretty good enough, just porting the last few games on modern consoles that don't already have them should be fine. If you guys have any suggestion, leave a comment.

2023.03.29 07:18 SPYROHAWK [Lore/Discussion] Endspeech
Hey there!
I'm writing this post to be digestible for people who know nothing about DnD, so bear with me.
Little intro rant
I just had a little observation about the game that I wanted to share, and I was wondering what other people thought.
So, Minecraft recently partnered up with Dungeons and Dragons for some crossover content. On the Minecraft side, a DnD map/adventure/ whatever its called was released on Minecraft Bedrock (because we can't get cool stuff on Java, only platforms where Microsoft can charge for it). It looks neat, it has some of my favorite monsters like the Mind Flayer and the Star Spawn Larva Mage. I don't have Bedrock edition so I can't say too much about it.
On the DnD side, they worked with Minecraft to release stat blocks for 5 different Minecraft monsters as DnD monsters. Those 4 are actually really neat. I say 4 because for some reason they decided to spend one of their 5 monsters on "Wolf of the Overworld" which is literally almost identical to the normal DnD 5e wolf, with just a few tweaks. You know, a wolf, rather than a minecraft-only monster like the Wither or a guardian or evoker or warden or something like that.
It's fine, I'm not salty.
So, what are the other four mobs? Blaze, Creeper, Enderman, and the Ender Dragon. All of them have some neat features. For example, all of them include the items they drop in their stat blocks. Blaze rods are worth 100 gold pieces and can be broken to cause them to explode. Ender Pearls are worth 500 gp and do pretty much as you would expect. Creepers can become charged and explode their heads when they die. The Ender Dragon's egg is worth 5000 gp.
Of course, they all also have some things that I'd do differently. Creepers are Monstrosities (general catch-all monster category in DnD) rather than Plants. The Ender Dragon doesn't have Legendary Actions (basically the main thing that defines a powerful boss creature in DnD) and instead its breath weapon works kind of weirdly. And, you know... wolves.
The actual point
But, personal thoughts aside, there's something interesting I noticed about the Enderman stat block.
You see, in DnD a monster's languages are included in its stat block. The Blaze, Creeper, and Wolf don't have any languages, which makes sense. They aren't really intelligent creatures that can communicate with any sort of language.
The Ender Dragon and Endermen DO have languages they can speak. But before I go into them, I need to explain why they are important.
Every creature in DnD has a creature type. Creepers, as stated, are Monstrosities. This is a catch-all creature type for any sort of monster that doesn't fit into other categories. Sure, makes sense. I would have made them plants, but whatever. Wolves are Beasts, which are "animal-type" monsters. Blazes are Elementals, which makes sense. Creatures of elemental fire. The Ender Dragon is a Dragon. Pretty self-explanatory. And lastly, Endermen are Aberrations. Aberrations are weird eldritch creatures from beyond reality (my personal favorite), so ofc Endermen fit.
Now, certain creature types tend to have a specific language they speak. Celestials speak... Celestial. Giants speak... Giant. Fiends speak either Infernal or Abyssal. Elementals speak some flavor of Primordial. Etc, etc.
The Ender Dragon only speaks one language, Draconic. This makes perfect sense. Draconic is the language that Dragons speak. Nothing special there.
Endermen is where it gets weird. Aberrations also have a language that they tend to all speak, called Deep Speech. Endermen don't speak it. Instead, Endermen get their own language called "Endspeech."
Why is this important?
If Endermen spoke Deep Speech, it would mean absolutely nothing at all. It's just DnD translating the monster over and doing what fit well. But the fact that they didn't use Deep Speech, but instead replaced it with a new language (especially one that has such a similar name) stands out.
In the video talking about the new monsters, it was confirmed that the team at DnD and the team at Minecraft worked closely and passed different drafts of the monster designs back and forth. So its HIGHLY unlikely that this was just the DnD folk writing something without thinking about the ramification. It was very likely an intentional inclusion by the Minecraft team.
Now what it actually means big picture... nothing.
But small-scale, I think it's the closest thing we have to a canon name for the language Endermen speak. It means its pretty close to canon that Endermen can communicate with each other (unlike Creeper or Blazes that don't have a language, if Endermen couldn't talk to each other they wouldn't be given their own special language). It also is worth noting that commonly in DnD, many Dragons speak Draconic and other languages like Common, but here the Ender Dragon DOESN'T speak Endspeech, only Draconic. Meaning while the Endermen can talk to each other, they can't quite talk to the dragon...
Obviously, some things here have to be taken with a grain of salt. For example, Ender Pearls don't hurt you on teleport, the Ender Dragon can knock players back with its wings but blowing up an End Crystal only does damage but doesn't knock you back if caught in the explosion, Blaze rods explode, etc etc. It's a translation to DnD mechanics, it isn't perfect.
But still, specifically giving Endermen their own language, when such a similar one already exists in DnD and not using it, and then not giving it to the Ender Dragon? It seems significant.
I also couldn't find any mention of "Endspeech" anywhere on the internet, searching it just brings up the End Poem. So is this the first time we are hearing this term?
Anyway, I'd love to hear other people's thoughts.
Also, here's the link to the DnD versions of the monsters, for those interested:

2023.03.29 07:08 CarobCake Folic acid/folate?
I'm still healing my stomach a yeae after erradicating h pylori. I stick to the gastritis healing diet and make a little more progress every day. Don't really have daily symptoms anymore, as long as I do things right. I'm weaning off my ppi and should be off it in two months. But my stomach is crazy sensitive.
I want to start trying to conceive soon (I'm 36, no time to waste) and tried to add a folic acid supplement. Two days later, I am starting to get symptoms back and feel that if I keep taking it it will dedinetly cause a flare. I take it after breakfast.
Does anyone have any good suggestions of versions of the supplement that don't cause issues? Or has been in this position and has some advice?

2023.03.29 07:05 StepwiseUndrape574 Huge GTA 6 Leak Claims Rockstar’s New RAGE9 Graphics Engine Is Incredible

2023.03.29 06:58 BluebirdLivid Need help understanding GLTF loading
A little while ago I was having huge issues trying to start a project with NPM and vite. I came here, and you guys were a huge help in getting it going. Thanks,
threejs!
Since, I feel like I have broken the ceiling of my programming career and the weekend-projects I've been doing have been LEAPS and BOUNDS larger than anything I had ever built. It completely brought my back to learning to code for the first time.
Anyway, I am back in a rut but I have hope this time. I can't seem to get GLTF objects right yet. I was struggling for a few weeks touching into loading any kind of 3D object, but I finally loaded a FBX of a stop sign and almost cried from excitement.
Now, I need to be able to texture that stop sign. I assume I will have to switch over to using GLTF instead of FBX, at least that is what the THREEjs doc seems to hint at, so I loaded that same stop sign as a GLTF and was able to get a non-textured version (same as with FBX.)
Everything I've seen has been a strange string of code that doesnt seem to even try to make sense. Please help!!!

2023.03.29 06:57 SparkSpectrum Winwing Orion 2 for First Combat Joystick?
Hi. For a while now, I have been considering getting into DCS World. I have test flown a couple of aircraft, and I really liked the experience. I currently have a Thrustmaster TCA Captain Pack hotas that i use with MSFS, which I have been using for little over a year now. Before I end up pulling the trigger, I want to know if the Orion 2 is a good hotas for me to start on with DCS. Should I go with the Orion 2 'MAX', or just go with the 'metal' version? Should I consider a different hotas system? Any advice or opinions on the product(s) would be greatly appreciated.
(I am mostly interested in flying the F18 and/or the F16 to start, if this helps)

2023.03.29 06:52 ToadBrigade5 Qwilfish - Toad's Daily Pokémon Ranking, 211
| Introducing the first Pokémon with an evolution method using Legends: Arceus' unique mechanics. 211: Qwilfish Okay, so... my one and only criticism here is pretty plain and simple. Qwilfish is a fine Pokemon, with a cool name, a functional design, based off an easy choice of animal to base a design off of. This was still before water fish Pokemon were overwhelmingly boring but hey, it at least has a nice poison dual type. Okay but... but how, exactly... in what world, does this look like a finished, fully evolved Pokémon?! It has so much potential, it could evolve into so many things, but no, this is fine? It looks barely more impressive than the real thing, and it's meant to compete against all these monsters? It's no wonder Qwilfish got forgotten and buried alongside all of Johto's unfinished lines, but it does have a lot of potential. It's just that the design is way too basic to be left to fend on it's own... and thankfully, it didn't need to for long. But for the pure Johtonian base form, there's no way I could give Qwilfish higher than a C- Tier placement. Thankfully this story doesn't end there. 211*: Hisuian Qwilfish For a fairly basic recolor, it's surprising how much I feel this improves things. Sure, we go back to purple, which is a little generic for poison types now but... it's poison type? It kind of... just makes sense with purple, and throwing in black makes Hisuian Qwilfish's design look much more visually striking. Also, more importantly, Hisuian Qwilfish gets an awesome evolution that it very, very much needed. I do wish we got a Johtonian Overqwil as well... but as is, I'm plenty happy with the improvement. C+ Tier. It's... still too basic a fish for me to vouch for it completely, but it's neat. Postscript: Y'know, I'm curious. Are any of you adamant Qwilfish fans? It's hard for me to invision someone who likes this more than a bunch of other fish, like, I dunno, maybe Sharpedo? But I'd love to hear from someone who looked at this little guy, even before his evolution, and said "Yeah that one's mine." For information on this series like tier definitions, the archives, and rankings, see this master doc. The last post was on the Snubull line, which can be found here.
