Taylor Swift is considered to have one of the largest cultural impacts of any musician ever. However, there are many people who have had a much more transformative impact on popular music. The development of rock and roll, for instance, was probably the largest change in popular music because it brought music from the folk music of the 1700s and 1800s (Stephen Foster, for example) to the most popular music of today. Starting with African rhythms that were imported during the slave trade, an interesting genre of music started to form in the Reconstruction era American South. When African-Americans were finally freed from slavery in 1863 and liberated in 1865, they had the time to develop an identity and create a living doing something other than forced manual labour. This included broader reach of the music and culture that had been relegated to plantation work; the music that was inadvertently imported during the slave trade. The music traveled from the Mississippi Delta where tensions were high after the American Civil War to places economic powerhouses like New York City where places like Tin Pan Alley and the Cotton Club would form with more receptive audiences. People from this time that had a more transformative impact on popular music than Taylor Swift include those like WC Handy, Lead Belly, and Sister Rosetta.
The Roaring 20s brought with it somewhat of a fusing between the traditionally White and Black musics. Anyway, this is mostly just a rant that I feel Swifties today are so uncultured in terms of music taste, and that I think Swift should do some CCR covers or something. Imagine a Taylor Swift version of Bad Moon Rising. As the best-selling contemporary artist, I feel that she should do more to expose her listeners to the outstanding music that came before her, like all other pop stars have done.

Now that the dust has settled on RoR (which has been magnificent and I hope they come back to it at some point, it's time to focus back on AoE II. So here are some ideas I have for future DLC. Chinese Frontiers
With last year's roadmap all but complete barring the "so you liked Dynasties of India?" hint, a lot of people think this points towards a Chinese themed DLC, with the Chinese being split. So first up on the list is just that. The first DLC in a while to feature more than three new campaigns.
Jurchens (East Asian)
Tibetans (East Asian)
Choe Yeong (Koreans) - Legendary general who suppressed rebellions in Korea before helping the Ming dynasty overthrow the Mongol Yuan dynasty in China.
Songsten Gampo (Tibetans) - Founder of the Tibetan Empire who went toe to toe with Tang China.
Taizong (Chinese) - Tang emperor who oversaw arguably the greatest period in all of Chinese history, and extended the Tang empire to its greatest height.
Wanyan Aguda (Jurchens) - Founder of the Jin dynasty who by the time of his death had conquered around half of China. Conflicts of the Caucasus
Next up, the setting of this DLC is in West Asia. It will add two of the most in-demand civs in Armenians and Georgians. With them will come a new architecture set, which can be best described as Eastern Mediterranean, as the Byzantines and Bulgarians will share it with them.

Forge of Legends instead introduces a range of civs from across the world, with the only real focus being non-European/West Asian civs. It is also the first DLC since African Kingdoms that introduces a good number of new civs. It comes with a whopping six

Dunama Dabbalemi (Kanembu) - Founder of the Kanem-Boru Empire that expanded into Berber and Saracen territory.
Hojo Clan (Japanese) - Clan that were hugely influential in the Genpei war, and succesfully repelled two Mongol invasions. A Bari/Hautevilles style campaign that follows a number of protagonists.
Hunac Ceel (Mayans) - Conqueror of Chichen Itza and eventual founder of the Cocom Dynasty.
Maha Chakkraphat (Siamese) - Defender of the Ayyuthayan kingdom against the Burmese.
Mahfuz (Somalians) - Ruler of the Adal Sultanate and waged war against the Ethiopians.
Tela and Theolao (Zapotecs) - A father-and-son chieftain pair who fought neighbouring tribes and Spanish invaders. The Final Kingdoms
All good things must come to an end and sadly, AoE II will eventually befell such a fate. At this point it begs the question of what else can the devs add to the game without contrivedly splitting civs? Again, four new civs, six campaigns, AoE II is going out with a bang. It basically ties up all the loose ends Europe-wise in the game. Notably, the Vlachs are added, who replace the Turks, Magyars and Slavs in all of Vlad Dracula.

And once that is done, the devs can fully concentrate on RoR :)

First: I want to say this isn't so much a criticism and more of an analysis of the arguments I've been seeing about Pharaoh and the mixed feelings.
Ok so one of the big conversations right now is that that one of Pharaoh's weaknesses is the lack of unit variety. A lot of people point out that ultimately Shogun 2 also didn't have that much variety between factions and its widely regarded as one of the best total war games. I think part of the issue isn't so much "between faction variety" as "within faction variety" in addition to both familiarity with the setting and the extent of the scope.
Using Shogun 2 as an example, in that game you had spearmen/pikemen, archers, glaives (naginata), halberdiers, swordsmen, light cavalry, heavy cavalry, ranged cavalry, mangonels, canons, gunner, firebombers and rocket troops.
In Pharaoh, it seems like most factions will have spearmen, archers, slingers, chariots, axemen, clubmen, swordsmen. Yes there will be heavy and light versions of them as well, and like two handed axemen vs axe and shield etc.
These may differ greatly between the three cultures we have, but this is where another factor comes in: Familiarity. Ultimately, Napoleon also didn't have much variety between factions. Everyone had line infantry, cavalry, cannons etc. Same with Empire for the most part with some exceptions like the Maratha elephants. Hell, even in Medieval 2 and Rome 2, a large chunk of the factions shared many units. How many factions had Mailed Knights or Citizen Cavalry?
So why does it feel worse in something like Pharaoh for a lot of people? I think it's because a lot of people just aren't as familiar with the time frame. For Shogun 2, people are at least somewhat familiar with the idea of Samurai and there was a waring states period. As such, people at least had a vague idea what they were going to get with the game, and most people would expect most of the factions to be fairly similar, and that's kind of what we got. Reasonably, they couldn't do much more than that given the game was about that.
For Pharaoh, people just aren't as familiar with warfare in this time period, and to be honest aren't as invested in it. Ancient Egypt is almost as popular a historical subject as Feudal Japan in general, but tbh I think casual history fans in west (TW's primary market) focus on different things in Egypt. For Japan, the "coolness factor" is the Samurai and Castles. For Ancient Egypt, it's Pharaohs and Pyramids and Ancient Egyptian Gods. You, the individual, may think bronze age warfare is amazing, I'm generalising here.
As such, to the casual history fan, if you see a game about Samurai Warfare and everyone has Samurai: Awesome, makes sense See a game about bronze age warfare: Everyone basically just has the same units, it's just Hittite chariots vs Egyptian chariots. Not exciting.
Is this argument logical, does it make sense, is it fair: Not really. However, games are, at the end of the day, entertainment designed to give an emotional response. There is a potential logical argument that ultimately there were more types of units in Shogun 2 and by that time in history the technology had improved so that battles will be more dynamic and interesting by default. I'm not entirely sure how true this.
What I do know is that watching the battle replays on YouTube, to a lot of people it feels like there is less unit variety than Shogun 2 even though there is, in reality, more because each culture will have its own units. I can't defend this argument as logical, but I also can't deny that I also feel it.
Another factor at play is the game's scope, and this one goes back to what you could expect from a game in a particular time period. Let's go back to Shogun 2. It's a game all about warfare in Feudal Japan. What will be included in that map: the main Japanese islands, probably excluding Hokkaido because it was still mostly Ainu at that time.
What's Pharaoh going to be about? Warfare in at the tail end of the Bronze Age. Ok, so you'd expect the map to cover the overarching area most of those civilisations... except we only get three of them at the start: Egypt, Canaan and the Hittites. No Assyria, Babylon, Mycenaeans, Elam or Kush? Yes, they could be added later as DLC, and yes this game is clearly more about the eastern Mediterranean civilisations, but these other groups had a lot of interactions with those civilisations so it feels weird they're not there at the start.
I'll give an example of how it feels: Imagine if when Thrones of Britannia launched it didn't include Ireland. Well, the game is clearly just about the Anglo-Saxons, Vikings and Celtic realms of Wales and Scotland. Yeah, but Ireland's also right there and it's factions had a lot of interaction with the other main factions in the game. It would feel weird if it was left out.
This feel of missing out a big chunk of the game's potential scope confounds with the lack of familiarity: "Well, I don't really know about the units and warfare in this time period, so ultimately they seem kind of samey, even though that might not be fair. Well, they could make up for that by exploring as many cultures as they can in the time period and then showing how they are different. That way we'd get 6 or 7 different unit rosters and really get the opportunity to explore and conquer the whole Bronze Age near east... oh we only got three at the start... huh..."
This is why faction variety matters more in time periods people are less familiar with. I personally would love for CA to explore more time periods and regions like like India, Southeast Asia, Africa and so on. However, when exploring those time periods it will be important to try and get as many of the big players as possible because most of their audience won't be as familiar with that time period.
There is ultimately one other thing which I think has impacted Pharaoh's hype: timing. I think if this had been announced after Med 3 or Empire 2 or something similar to that, people would be more hyped. The reason is that for many historical fans, they are most familiar with history post 1000 AD in Europe. Again, it's not really fair, and I personally think other parts of the world are equally interesting.
The other thing is that they have been waiting for many years for a BIG historical game to come after Warhammer. I don't doubt that if a Medieval game had been announced and it just focused on Western Europe (eg. Hundred Years War: Total War), a lot of people would still have been disappointed.
However, for Pharaoh it's actually worse. The factors I mentioned above like the unfamiliarity of the time period and the fact that a big chunk of the potential factions are missing at launch mean that even though it covers a fairly sizable area of map, bigger than Shogun 2, it feels small to a lot of people. Incidentally, this is where a lot of the arguments that it's basically a saga game without the saga title come from.
Now, is it logical to think that after working on WH3 there would be a big game coming as the next title? Not really. However, I can't help but feel if CA had released something saying "hey we've got a big historical title coming in 2024 you've been waiting and we've got another surprise historical one in the meantime", the reactions would be less mixed.

War has descended upon an abandoned industrial facility, slowly being reclaimed by nature in the Czechian region. Fight in and amongst derailed trains, abandoned turbines and warehouses as you work towards secrets hidden within the mountains.

The Crash Site, featuring the derailed train, is designed primarily as a vehicle combat area, with the Landing Zone an area of forest providing a circular area that will enable close-quarters combat and new sightlines opening up when trees are destroyed.
You may see the inspiration we’ve taken for the Abandoned Turbine and Military Warehouse. The indoor space of the Abandoned Turbine will enable crossfires due to its verticality and cover. While the Military Warehouse’s floors will no doubt attract snipers and a range of gunplay experiences due to the narrow layout.
Hidden inside the nearby mountain lies The Bunker, forgotten and made up of a central room whose linear space will bring intense, short-range, close-quarters combat. In comparison to this, The Silos is another outdoor area set up for vehicle combat with its generous roads perfect for tank battles. Reworking Vehicle Loadouts
We’re restructuring vehicle loadouts to ensure their combat roles are clearly defined and to reduce prevalence of explosive weaponry. This will also add further readability on the battlefield to ensure you know what to expect from vehicles when you encounter them.
The restructuring of loadouts primarily focuses on our ground vehicles, and we’ll both remove and add weapons to each available vehicle loadout. For example, explosives will no longer be an option for all vehicles, and overall you’ll find more choice through a larger selection of weapons available to you.
Let’s use the LATV4 Recon as an example of what that looks like.
The LATV4 Recon is one of the most used vehicles in the game, and having explosive weaponry readily available pushed it outside of its intended role as a transport. We’re removing all its explosives, such as the 30mm, 50mm and Grenade Launcher, and will replace them with anti-infantry weaponry instead.

Dozer and Irish will receive improvements to ensure they provide similar gameplay experiences as others within their class. Dozer
For Dozer we will be enhancing his movement and animations when using the SOB-8 Ballistic Shield. You will now be able to strafe, rotate and pitch with your shield more quickly than previously, as well as being able to traverse ziplines with your shield equipped! Lastly, we’ll also be including two new XP Events to reward further acts of teamplay when playing with Dozer.
On the receiving end when firing at his shield, we will be increasing its spread and introducing more bullet trajectory upon hitting his shield. Irish will receive a balancing pass to the capabilities of his APS-36 Shootdown Sentinel. We’re doing that by having it cycle through new intercept and recharge states alongside an added short cooldown, versus its previous always-on state.

Squad Management Improvements
Alongside the Season update we’re also adding improvements to the current Squad functionality.

The Squad Menu is now separated to give you a full overview of all squads on your team. In this menu you can make someone else the leader, and see how many players or friends are in a squad. It also shows class icons so you know how to best complement a squad before joining it. And to add some personal flavor, leaders can also show off their Player Card Tag as the squad icon.
We also worked with the narrative team to come up with code names for each squad for that additional personal touch. One of our personal favorites is Gravedigger -- surely the Gravediggers know how to PTFO. We definitely don’t mess with that squad! Create and Join
At any time you’ll be able to create or join a new squad directly via the Squad Menu. Previously you could only switch to a random squad, and only from the deploy screen. If you create a new squad then we’ve also added a short waiting period before other players can matchmake into your squad to ensure you can play together with your friends. Easy navigation
The Squad Menu was created to make it easier and faster to manage and navigate through squads on your team. While before it was unclear when and how to change squads, you’ll now be able to do that at any time and with only a few clicks.
We hope that with this new improved Squad Management experience you feel that you have the control over who you’d like to play with during a match. Once this is in your hands, please stay in touch and give us your feedback about how you feel about it!

Other Areas of Improvement Damage Unit Functionality
As part of Season 5, you will now be able to decide if you wish to show damage units at the bottom of your screen, at the side of your crosshair, or not at all. This new functionality can be defined to your liking via Options > Display > HUD General > Damage Numbers. Accuracy & Dispersion Changes
Since Launch, our Level Design team has been reworking our maps to react to feedback on cover opportunities, and traversal improvements. These changes have also resulted in alterations to combat distances, and our weapons were tuned for these previous distances and combat scenarios in mind.
Over time, this has resulted in feedback from you about several weapons being too accurate at long ranges without penalty.
With Season 5, we aim to address this gap with balancing the accuracy and dispersion of several categories of weapons. Assault Rifles from All-Out Warfare and their Vault Weapon counterparts will be the first to receive this treatment.
You will notice that the maximum dispersion has been increased by an average of 15-20%, and the weapons will now reach that maximum dispersion level when they reach half of the magazine while on full auto, and full spray mode!
This should encourage everyone to do smaller bursts instead of prolonged fire towards a moving target, and in consideration with the map rework should increase survivability at longer ranges to encourage further up close and personal combat.
We will be assessing your feedback to this change over time and continue to make necessary changes in future updates. New Unlock Requirements for Lis, Crawford, Zain and Blasco
Lis, Crawford, Zain and Blasco will now be available as rewards as you gradually gain Player Levels through earning XP. Their previous unlock requirements are no longer available. Go get ‘em! Camera Sprint Movement
We have made adjustments to the Camera Movement when sprinting in Battlefield 2042.
This change is meant to add physicality to sprinting by introducing more immersive camera movement dependent upon the type of weapon and sprint type that you may be using at that time. You will notice a different amount when using an Assault Rifle compared to an RPG for example.
We hope you enjoy this new sense of weight and body motion through the camera. For accessibility you may turn off the new motion in the accessibility options.
On top of that, there are also some golden rules to camera motion in FPS games that ensure your understanding of where you are in space, aligned with what the camera tells you, and we have taken the opportunity to improve that further by focusing on rotations rather than translations in space.

Normally a scope will adjust your field of view. With this option set to “On”, the field of view will instead be taken from the field of view you chose in general, in your display settings. Some weapons will not be affected if they have specifically been designed to have a certain field of view that should not be changed. Why is this important?
The amount of input it takes for your aim to move across screen space changes when field of view changes. Uniform Soldier Aiming calculates your aim rate to take the same amount of pixel distance on screen for a given physical movement of the mouse.
In 4.2 we set Uniform Soldier Aiming to On by default (see our Dev Note
for further detail). Setting ADS field of view to On, ensures the consistency achieved by Uniform Soldier Aiming remains the same across various scopes since your field of view will not change when zooming.
Like Uniform Soldier Aiming, this will help to build muscle memory, which is essential to aiming in first person shooters.
Changelog General Fixes and Options

- Fixed an issue where players in solo/co op were being placed in a separate squads when joining on friends
- Added an “Reduce Sprint Camera Motion” option in accessibility settings to reduce Camera Motion for those who are easily susceptible to motion sickness.
AI & Soldier Improvements
- Overall weapon mix and audio tweaks.
- Specialist movement sounds are improved to match each specialists' gear
- Fixed an audio issue on Stranded where two area types briefly overlap while zip-lining to the ship
- Fixed an audio issue where voice overs are sometimes not present during the insertion phase of the prologue
- Fixed an audio issue where weapon handling sounds are sometimes missing on insertion.
- The Penguins have been tampering with the Ranger payload, and it will now take more damage from infantry projectiles. Not the Penguins, the Ranger.
- Fixed an issue where a MCOM in Rush could get stuck in a defuse state if an AI Soldier gets removed while trying to defuse the bomb.
- Fixed issues that resulted in AI Soldiers not trying to avoid some grenades. Don’t ask.
- AI Soldiers will no longer keep moving and firing at the End of Round. They’ll just have to accept that the round is over and there will be another one.
- AI Soldiers will now be able to enter vehicles directly from using a parachute.
- Fixed an issue that would cause the player to be pushed away from bushes when proning near them.
- Made improvements in ensuring the parachute cannot be deployed on smaller jumps between platforms.
Specialists & Gadgets
- Breakthrough is now available within Battlefield Portal. You will be able to create Custom Experiences for Breakthrough and Breakthrough Small via the Web Builder. Due to the complexities of Breakthrough, Custom Scripting will not be available for this mode.
- Fixed an issue that allowed Irish to use his APS Shootdown Sentinel when it was restricted.
- Fixed an issue that caused the Taser Baton melee weapon to incorrectly appear in the Battlefield 3 category.
- Fixed various placeholder names and icons for weapons in the restricted 2042 attachment category.
- The RM68 will now have the correct icon when setting up a Portal experience.
- Attachments belonging to Vault Weapons are now present in the Attachment tab via the Web Builder.
- Adjusted turret speed of the M1A2 from Bad Company 2 and Tiger 1 from Battlefield 1942 to be compatible with aim decouple from body option.
- RPG-7V2 has received a balance pass to be more in line with All-Out Warfare Game Modes and State of Play.
- A tutorial video for the FGM-148 Javelin and XM370A are now present within the Collection Screen.
- The Collection Screen video for the FXM-33 AA Missile now shows the lock-on prompt as intended.
- The Collection Screen will now display the correct magazine names.
- Updated IBA Armor Plate's Gadget Description to mention that it only protects the torso.
- Deployable Gadgets are now destroyed after a territory control change on Breakthrough or Rush.

- Fixed an issue that prevented SFX from playing when using Soflam Designator to designate enemy vehicles.
- Fixed an issue which would prevent players from accessing the Soflam Designator’s camera after deploying the Gadget.
- Fixed an issue that caused players being unable to restock on ammo when recently being damaged.
- Firing the Smoke Grenade Launcher no longer self-spots on the minimap.
- Throwing Knives will now benefit from Aim Assist, allowing them to attract and slow down while in hip fire. They will not benefit from snap assistance.
- Players will no longer take damage when destroying Sentry Turrets or Shootdown Sentinels
- Grenades will no longer detonate from other explosions.
Dev Comment: This change has been made so that each grenade will now have a set detonation timer, increasing the readability as opposed to a chain reaction style of play. Players will still be able to shoot a grenade with bullets.
- The Penguins have been working hard on their research of the Incendiary Grenade and have found a breakthrough that allowed them to increase the radius by 15%. Toasty.
All Recon Specialists will now be able to use the Concussion Grenade.
We have also made substantial changes to how the Concussion Grenade works in a couple of areas, based on distance to the player and in comparing the direction of the player upon grenade detonation.
The effects of the Concussion Grenade are defined by Near, Far and Frontal scenarios. When it detonates within close range it will heighten the duration and intensity at the point of detonation. Beyond that near range, it will lead to a lessened duration and intensity. This effect is also decided and impacted by if the detonation takes place in front of the player.
- Near radius has been increased from 6m to 8m
- Total radius remains unaffected at 12m.
- Increased the angle acceptance in order to be considered a frontal concussion from 60 degrees to 70 degrees.
- Duration at which Concussion Grenade lasts has been increased in the following conditions:
- Near + Frontal Facing from 2s to 2.5s
- Far + Frontal Facing from 1.5s to 1.75
- Near + Side from 0.75s to 1.2s
Through telemetry and community sentiment, since moving the Prox Sensor out of the throwable slot and into the Gadget Selection field we have seen this gadget decline in relevance compared to the TUGs and other viable gadgets. We have made some adjustments to allow for the Prox Sensor to be an equally viable choice as part of your loadout.
- Increased the number of Prox Sensors that can be carried from 1 to 2
- Increased the number of Prox Sensors that can be deployed at once from 1 to 2
- Reduced the radius of the Prox Sensors scan from 20m to 15m, which will offset some of the benefits of these adjustments.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the Tracer Dart from being able to resupply from Angel's loadout crate.
- The Area of Effect for Blasco’s Signal Jammer will no longer tilt when the Gadget is on a slope.
- Enemies disrupted by Blasco's Signal Jammer will no longer stop revealing their position when the affected player shoots their weapon.
- Blasco’s Signal Jammer will no longer protect itself from spotting.
Dev Comment: We have made this change to help players in locating Blasco’s X6 Infiltration Device, allowing for a better understanding of where to find the device that is blocking their spots. Casper
- Enemy or friendly players can no longer climb upon Casper's drone and fly with it.
- Added thermal vision to Casper's OVP-Recon Drone when zooming in.
- Dozer's deploying shield animation will now correctly play immediately after throwing a grenade.
- Dozer's shield will now correctly play a fling/push away animation in 1st person view when being hit by a rocket, missile or tank shell.
- Fixed an issue that allowed Dozer to jump for an unlimited amount of time while his shield was equipped.
- Dozer's Shield bash sound is now played when hitting enemies at the edge of the melee range.
- Dozer's shield can now destroy the Medical Crate, T-UGS, Anti-Tank Mine, Ammo Crate, C5 Explosive, M18 Claymore, Prox Sensor, and Loadout Crate.
- Fixed an issue which would cause deflected bullets from Dozer's shield to not damage enemy players.
- Fixed an issue that would cause incorrect animations between first and third perspectives with Dozer.
- Fixed an issue where Dozer would be unable to switch weapons when in a prone state while switching from Shield to a Melee Weapon.
- Fixed an issue that caused Dozer to not take damage and enter the heavy hit animation when an RPG would hit his shield.
- Added a unique shield bullet impact sound for Dozer
- Falck's Syrette Pistol projectiles no longer deal damage to Dozer when they hit his Ballistic Shield.
- Falck's Syrette Pistol will now begin to replenish ammo when the reserve is missing ammo (akin to Zain's XM370A), as opposed to waiting for an entire magazine to be missing.
- Fixed an issue that caused the explosion of the Shootdown Sentinel to unintentionally interact with the EOD Bot and remove player input from controlling it.

Dev Comment: Sundance’s Anti-Armor Grenade had poor readability which would result in vehicle players being unable to detect between an incoming missile or an Anti-Armor Grenade. Which resulted in being unable to react suitably with countermeasures. Going forward, the only time you will see “Incoming Missile” alerts is when it is actually an incoming missile. Zain
- Fixed an issue that would prevent players from setting the Airburst range on the XM370A for specific structures.
- XM370A's Range Number will now display the correct distance when looking through smoke.
- Fixed issue where earning T1 Mastery on the Defibrillator did not reward the "Jack of All Trades" Achievement/Trophy.
- Adjusted Pilot Kill XP to only be rewarded when the victim's air vehicle did not also get destroyed at the same time.

Summer before middle school my parents told me we would move to a different town because my mom got an amazing offer there and my dad’s job is quite flexible to move around. My cousins live at the next town but they are at the western side of their town and I lived at the eastern side so visiting them would take about an hour. I didn’t have much problem with moving since I didn’t make a lot of friends.
When we got there, we still had a month and a couple of weeks before school starts and my cousins visited me to explore the area while my parents settle to arrange their new job/job at a different location so I spent a lot of time with my cousins.
When school started I tried to blend in as possible but it felt intimidating since many students seem to know each other. A few weeks later this girl in my class started talking to me, let’s call her Paula. Paula would talk to me at every possible chance she had and she was really nice and funny and I like her. Soon we became attached to the hip; would wait at the school gate for each other, partners in any project or activity, would join clubs together.
By the time we were in freshman (IDK if that’s the right term for Western people), we never had any problems as friends, we even made new friends as well. During lunchtime, I would eat with my parents out of school while Paula and the rest ate at school. Just to clarify, we as a whole class never had problems with one another, we had our own groups and were civil, but we kinda had our mean girl that just backstabs everyone as a hobby. Paula asked me one day what I thought of her since she saw boasting about how ugly our teacher’s new bag is and I just said she was mean. She didn’t seem satisfied with my answer and insisted what my honest thoughts of her, I thought to myself that this is just normal student gossip so I gave her my opinion, Paula liked my answer and we went about our day.
When the pandemic hit, Paula would always reach out to me and we would chat or facetime a lot. I appreciated her for that and would do my best to come up with stuff to do together in our situation. When we were about to graduate, Paula suddenly stopped messaging me. I reached out to her but she never responded. I saw her at our graduation day and she ignored me completely. Everyday since then I kept wondering what I did wrong for her to stop talking to me. She just stayed away from me as if we never even met and went to a different college a few towns away.
Last week, when I was finishing my last exam a classmate of Paula’s was at my uni. This person was here for his girlfriend, a classmate of mine, and tried to talk to me as he was waiting for her. Somehow he recognized me as the girl Paula talks about and that piqued my full attention towards him. I asked him if he knew her and he said only a little bit since Paula is always with her group of friends. So I asked him what Paula talks about me. He looked awkward but said not good things. He said that Paula bragging to her friends, one of them was the mean girl, how I was a horrible person, always talking crap about people, trying so hard to be a teacher’s pet and so on. But what really struck me was when he said Paula couldn’t believe her mom owed my dad money since it looked like my whole family was full of idiots and that Paula had to play pretend to be my friend so her mom has more time to get the money.
It’s almost been a week now and I don’t know what to think anymore. It hurts so much how I genuinely liked this person but she was never even real with me. The rest of my friends from high school still talk to me but I honestly don’t know if they knew. I don’t know what went wrong.

Has the capability to cast Paean of Peace or Paean of Victory every turn, though she cannot cast Paean of Heartthrob on turn 1. Arguably her best style.
(Note: there is no need to rank up Skill 1 - Paean of Tranquillity)
Overall, very good value in this banner on its own and all the more if you have access to their previous styles for inheritance.

With Passive 2 - Thrifty Teaching, Chef Polka will also have more BP recovery for Still Blade Phoenix usage. Less offensive as compared to Rag Robin, though the Attack Boost stacking on OverDrive can be fun.
Without Still Blade Phoenix though, he is still a tanky party buffer and healer, useful for Remembrance Battles.
3b) Liz Lynn Wood [Storm the Castle!]
is a tanky Cold bow defender.

I didn't realize the Banners were divided by Character and did the first 4 in Garu’s instead of Kuya’s too! Not like I got anything anyway… So like my question is what is the best deal to get an SSR in the ReRuns? Hello everyone, today I want to write my story (22M) because those of others were very useful to me when I learned that I had a brain tumor.
It all started in February 2023 when I started having headaches in the morning, severe fatigue and a certain loss of appetite, but that didn't alert me more than that at first. For about a month and a half then I had these symptoms then at the end of March the headaches (which I could qualify as the worst pain I have ever known) appeared as well as vomiting. Thinking that it was going to pass, I then waited a few days and then came a moment my mother told me that it was not normal at all and took me to the emergency. WhenToCop? I arrived to the emergency my case was not really taken seriously. I then have to wait 2 hours and I am finally taken care of. The doctor asks me a few questions and examines me but for him nothing abnormal, my symptoms are probably due to stress or fatigue but he still wants to do a CT scan. I then pass my CT scan and directly I am asked if I have really had a headache for « only » 2 weeks, I answer them yes. I was then brought back to the room where I had been examined and the doctor arrived very quickly, telling me that I was going to be transferred urgently to another hospital because I have a mass in my brain. At the moment, I do not realize too much, I told myself that I was going to be treated quickly and that it should not be much. I was then transferred to the other hospital and I was told that I was going to be operated on the same evening because I had hydrocephalus. The operation takes place at 1 a.m. and goes without any problems. I then spent the night in the recovery room, then they made me go directly to an MRI before going back to my room. Quickly I am asked to get up and there I have an ataxia that I did not have before thaïs operation which puts a big blow to my morale because I could no longer walk normally. At the beginning of the afternoon of the same day my surgeon came to see me and he explained to me that the second operation to remove the tumor is planned in 9 days. He explains to me that the tumor is located in the IV ventricle of the brain and that it is undoubtedly benign but he found it atypical and could not put a name on it just with the MRI. After a few days they then let me go home to wait for the second operation. The week of waiting before the second operation was probably the worst of my life, I could no longer walk normally, I had no appetite and the urge to vomit was constant. It is also at this time that I started to think about the future that can be very dark, about what I leave behind. In addition, trying to keep busy during this period was very complicated since you think about this tumor and everything that comes with it 24 hours a day.
Finally the operation arrives, it will have lasted 8 hours and will have been a success. When I wake up in the recovery room I remember the neurosurgeon talking to me and me vomiting directly, I went back to sleep after that. On the second awakening I saw double and blurry, I had very sore neck and legs. This night has been endless, with the noise of the machines, the nurses constantly waking you up and the absence of the notion of time. Once morning arrived, I went to do an MRI right away, which went very well despite the fact that it was just after the operation, then afterwards I was taken up to my room. The first two days were very hard, I had little appetite, always had the urge to vomit (my surgeon told me it was normal because they had touch the ventricles) and especially very tired. The second day they asked me to get up, which I accepted, unfortunately as soon as I got up my heart rate accelerated and my blood pressure dropped (I didn't go far from being unwell) I I then had to go back to bed. Second attempt the same day and this time it was good I was able to get up and start to be "autonomous" again. It was also at this time that they removed my urinary catheter. I then stayed a few days in the hospital, of course I spare you that sleeping in the hospital is not very nice but every day I felt better. After 6 days I was able to go home, I could walk alone, eat, speak normally, no memory problems or paralysis, my ataxia had greatly reduced, overall I can say that the job had been done well by my surgeon.
The first days at home were fantastic, I had regained my appetite, I no longer had these abominable pains in my head, overall I was fine. Then a kind of anxiety set in while waiting for the results of the tumor analysis. My surgeon until the last day could not tell me the nature of my tumor or at least the idea that he could have (I think he had an idea but in order not to give me hope he preferred not to say anything so as not to give a positive prognosis when this one could have been negative). It is then that the climate before the second operation re-establishes itself where you say that yes the operation has passed but what is waiting for me after. Radiotherapy? See chemotherapy? Or worse then something that cannot be treated? This kind of unknown future was consuming all my attention and energy, I couldn't distract myself or do any other activity, I was only thinking about it.
After almost 3 weeks I am called by my neurosurgeon who tells me that he has the results. He starts the appointment by showing me the MRIs (which I had never seen before) and there I discover a tumor that seems huge to me that was compressing my cerebellum, really at the time I had a hard time telling myself that was my brain three weeks ago. The moment comes when he tells me the nature of the tumor. This one is benign and is called Pilocytic astrocytoma, he tells me that for him he removed everything during the operation and that despite a risk of recurrence normally I should be quiet. I can't explain the relief to you at this time, after a month of waiting I finally learn what I have. He then explains to me that I should be monitored regularly, probably for life, but that for the moment I do not need any additional treatment and that I just needed rest. For the moment my story does not have a continuation but I hope that this one will be positive.
These weeks of waiting would have been long without my family who knew how to support me and accompany me in this special adventure.

So, I'm 26 years old and I have had some PCOS symptoms since I was 22.
Due to the fact I have an copper IUD, I've had multiple ultrasounds and in all of them there were some cysts (my doctor called them "micro").
The tricky thing here is that I've always had regular-ish periods (maybe 3 missed periods in my lifetime?), and I've only been slightly overweight through 22-25. Currently I'm a bit underweight.
Starting from 22 I experienced severe hair thinning/loss and fatigue. Last year I had a terrible cystic acne outburst too, but now that's gone (I associated that one with stress actually).
Once the doctor prescribed me myo-inositol and spironolactone. But whenever I asked her if I had PCOS or not she would just reply: "Just take the medicaments and we'll see".
I don't know what to take from these mixed signals both from the doctor and from my body? What is the best way to get a clear answer?
I'd appreciate any resources or recommendations you can make. I live in Western Europe if that helps.
Edit: the only persisting symptoms now are hair loss and a recent period that was late by 10 days, after I was regular for at least 7mo.

I've argued with many pro-police people for various reasons, and have acquired a decent-sized library of their common talking points in support of the police and in opposition to movements like ACAB. Today, I will address the most interesting of these talking points and debunk them, with sources. The format of this post will be FAQ style. I'm not the best when it comes to researching so if anybody has suggestions for alternate/additional sources I'm all ears. Please share this with your friends and loved ones who are on the fence or maybe completely support police, maybe this'll change their minds.
The system of policing we see in the United States and many other nations is plagued by corruption, violence, and extortion. While these issues may be seen as worse/better when you compare different nations, it's all still the same and tier-listing misery will get us nowhere. For the purposes of this essay, I will be addressing police specifically from an American's perspective, as I'm American. I also will be operating on these premises:
- Police officers are not designed for the majority of the things they're tasked with handling.
- Police officers show little agency in what laws they choose to enforce, this includes unjust laws that cause more societal harm than good. (Example, drug laws). This however doesn't apply to their own, which I'll demonstrate later.
- This results in most interactions with police following obvious "dialogue trees" and any attempt to steer away from it, either by questioning their motives and logic or just showing distaste for their treatment of you, will result in unjustifiable escalations of force.
With these details in mind, I believe that the second a would-be cop dons that uniform, they have lost their humanity in my eyes, and their lives are forfeit. They have become obedient, robotic agents of the state, and as long as workers of this country struggle against the state, this stance will be firmly unchanged.
Does this mean that well-meaning people don't exist in law enforcement? Absolutely not. There are many cops who see the injustices in the system and either through culture shock or naïveté, attempt to bring consequences to their fellow pigs. This often results in retaliation including but not limited to: firing, harassment, refusal of backup, or just straight up murder
The only good cop is either a dead one, or one that turns to our side.
Now with all that out of the way, let's begin my straw-man.
When you say "agents of the state", what does that mean?
There's a story from my own life I can share with you:
A while ago when I used to work at McDonald's I found out that our boss was sabotaging other workers' interviews for other jobs, in an attempt to force them to stay at the job. Me, being still quite young at the time, thought that the police should do something about this, as I researched this and it is illegal for an employer to do this. The only response I got back was "This isn't a police matter"
So then me, confused, wonder why not? If what she's doing is against the law where I am, why can they not investigate? Now this was before I knew about the Department of Labor and all that, so I never followed through with this incident, but this story planted a seed in my mind.
This seed grew into a beautiful plant in my mind once I learned the Labor Theory of Value, Marxism, the usual "commie shit". All this made me realize that the reason that incident wasn't a police matter, is because police work for capital, not us
. The capital owners are the ones who use the police to keep workers in check. This is a dynamic that goes all the way back to the police's original intended purpose of catching runaway slaves
, eventually leading to violently suppressing worker uprisings during the Industrial Revolution
. They don't willfully go after the elites, much less their own, because they're on their fucking leash.
So who do you expect to keep you safe?
I don't know, I don't have that expectation now. Wanna know why? Because, if the Uvalde Shooting wasn't evidence enough, police are not legally obligated to protect anybody
What if somebody breaks into your house?
Let's use the common example of Chicago for this one. Chicago's police response time averages from any range between 95 seconds to 9 minutes
Now let's assume this burglar is actually a threat to you, as in, they actively want to kill you. Do you think the police will be there to save you in time? Best to defend yourself.
Did the burglar leave with your valuables? Hope you had insurance! Property crimes (which includes burglary) are only solved about 16-20% of the time
This must mean they don't have enough officers or funding to respond faster
Another myth. Police have plenty of funding. So much in fact that not enough is going to actually important institutions, like schools and fire departments. This is a hard thing to find proof for since most of the cities in the USA have some sort of law enforcement apparatus, but I'll give you some homework. Try and find out the police funding for your city/hometown. Compare that to the taxes that go to the actually useful stuff.
What about the mass shooters and serial killers?
Well, I already made fun of the cowards in Uvalde so I'll just say this:
Those are the things armed police SHOULD be charged in handling.
Wait, did you just say armed police? As in, you want to disarm them?
Hell yeah brother. The United Kingdom, for example doesn't give their street cops guns. They're trained in hand-to-hand combat and disarming techniques. They still have armed units with which they deploy for [fire]armed threats.
In the United States meanwhile, we have pussy cops using guns against people with melee weapons. They have the numbers and the equipment (stun guns, mace, batons) to take down this kind of threat and instead they take the easy way and shoot them. So yes, take their fucking guns away.
Wouldn't that make them easy targets?
I would argue that their behavior makes them targets, "fuck around and find out" as they say.
Be that as it may, disarming the police would be nigh impossible and incredibly illogical with how easy weapon procurement is in the USA, which is why gun laws need to be restricted too. But that's a whole other discussion I don't feel like having. So for this I will give you a +1.
My Proposed Solution
To conclude this essay, I share my proposed alternative to policing at it is now, which would coincide with extensive prison reform as well:
- Abolish qualified immunity. - Stop utilizing police testimony in court cases where there's no physical evidence to back their word up. Juries are hopelessly biased towards pigs and will take their word as gold. Which is scary since they lie in court all the time
- Most importantly, STOP SENDING POLICE TO EVERY FUCKING 911 CALL. I shouldn't even have to provide evidence that police kill the mentally ill. Police should be dispatched ONLY when an armed threat is present. Period.

2023.06.02 15:30 xenodroid Anyone else tired of hearing that Dragon Ball is "Over Rated"?
Over the years I've noticed a growing sentiment in the anime community (mostly amongst younger modern Shonen fans; Naruto, One Piece, My Hero, Demon Slayer, etc.) That Dragon Ball is somehow given too many accolades and is a mediocre story compared to it's successors. I find this opinion to be pretty ignorant, as it's almost always held by people who never even enjoyed DBZ in the first place and don't really have many valid criticisms. But even the Shonen fans who have watched enough of it to form a valid perspective and still don't like it usually never give the strongest arguments as to why it's bad.
I'm specifically targeting Shonen fans here because obviously muscled men smashing into each other at the speed of light isn't going to be enjoyed by everyone who consumes anime/manga. I have no problem with those people whatsoever, that's just a matter of taste in aesthetic and storytelling. What really grinds my gears is these lame head zoomers out here saying things like "Dragon Ball Z is mid" or "It's only good if you watched it as a kid." Then go on to suck off Naruto or My Hero like they're the second coming of Christ.
When it comes to the argument of Dragon Ball being unejoyable to anyone who didn't discover the franchise as a child, I just think that's not true at all and frankly I'm sick of hearing that opinion all over the place. I first picked up the original Dragon Ball manga 3 years ago when I was 19, granted I had been exposed to alot of the story of DB through cultural osmosis and had been a die-hard fan of the DBZ anime from age 7 onwards after I first watched Kai on Nicktoons. The point being that I hadn't read any of the manga other than maybe one or two chapters at the library before age 19, and it was one of the best manga reading experiences I've ever had. I've read some amazing stories like Berserk, Vinland Saga, Grappler Baki, and many others, and while Dragon Ball doesn't compete with those legends in the story department, I consider it in the same tier of manga because of its incredible innovation and creativity with it's fight choreography and world-building.
I don't think that because I'm blinded by nostalgia, I think it because I can recognize how innovative DB and DBZ actually were. I think if more young people actually gave the manga a chance they would see it for the master class in Shonen storytelling that it is. Toriyama's art is so iconic and timeless, I know people usually refer to people like Hayao Miyuzaki or Osamu Tezuka as the "Walt Disney of Japan" but in my opinion there's nobody with an art-style more iconic or deserving of that title than Toriyama. I mean kid Goku it doesn't get better than that design from a minimalist design perspective, he really is the Mickey Mouse of Japan.
One huge thing that I don't see mentioned nearly enough, even amongst DB fans, is how seamlessly Toriyama and Torishima blended themes of Eastern Mysticism and Philosophy, Folklore, and Martial Arts with crazy esoteric concepts like the Science-Fiction elements of DBZ. Other than things like American comic books I've never seen those genres flow together so well, I mean seriously when Raditz comes down to earth and reveals Goku is an alien it doesn't feel forced or like a jumping the shark moment at all, even though it really should in a story that up until that point had been grounded in Folklore and Mysticism. But it ends up feeling like the perfect explanation as to why Goku is so much stronger than the other humans, and sets up so much lore and worldbuilding that you don't even have time to think about the insane genre paradigm-shift that just happened before your very eyes. Then it gradually introduces more and more of these Sci-Fi elements through the rest of the Saiyan saga until becoming a full blown space opera into the Namek arc.
I have yet to see any franchise other than Dragon Ball pull that off so efficiently. Even in the MCU movies like Shang-Chi and Doctor Strange really don't feel like they exist in the same universe as Iron Man 1 or Captain America 1. It's a real accomplishment in storytelling and in my opinion, that alone invalidates any smooth brain criticisms of "plot contrivances" or "too much filler"....

The entire story takes place within Sol against an alien invasion of a species called Harbingers. Humanity has also never left Sol because we've terraformed every planet and moon as well as creating artifical moons planets and suns. At best we've exploited the resources of other solar systems by sending drones but never actually colonize.
But the spelling mistakes within the timeline are because I typed on my phone. And if you're typing to fast the phone doesn't pick up what button you pressed. Anyways here's the incomplete history of the Sol Alliance.
2076: Humanity realizes plans for the first interstellar vessels.
2083: Drones launched to Mars to build the first buildings for the first colonists.
2186: First Interstellar Starship, the UNSS Mirror launches. Carrying with it the first colonists of Mars.
2110:Talk about becoming their own civilization or planetary government increases.
2115: Discussion with the UN begins.
2120: UN finally approves of Mars gaining its own planetary government. The reason being they can tax Mars.
2121: Mars Democratic Alliance established.
2125: Immigration from Earth to Mars increases.
2135: Earthian tech companies heavily taxed on Mars. Excuse being that Earth tech companies are exploiting the data of Martian citizens.
2136: United Nations demands increased taxes from Mars.
2137: Earth tech companies banned from Mars.
2139: Earth increases taxes even more on Mars.
2140: Martians vote in moderate, Alicia May for President. She is able to negotiate decreased taxes at the deal of Mars, lowering the number of military ships and troops.
2143: Tensions simmer down between Mars and Earth. Martian culture begins to flourish.
2150: Alicia May steps down from President. Pro-Earth Sympathizer, Andrew Sutton voted President.
2157: Disaterious deal made. UN offers President Sutton a deal. UN would grant Mars more autonomy if they allow the UN to have a few repersentives within the Martian government. President Sutton agrees.
2160: President Sutton made a figurehead for the Earth government.
2170: Relations between Earth and Mars start to break down. (First Pseudo true AI created. AI was created in Austrila. This Pseudo AI named Bunyip.)
2173: The growing tension leads to the dissolution of the United Nations. United Alliance of Earth Nations is formed. Formed from all countries of Earth.
2174: Martian sympathy among Earth citizens is brutally stamped out by the world government.
2175: Martian factory production begins accelerating. Mars accepts Earth citizens fleeing from Earth oppression. United Alliance of Earth Nations demands that the Mars Democratic Alliance cease all activity. Demand goes unanswered.
2176: Earth begins accelerating production of own military.
2181: Earth embassy in Mars capital is bombed by Martian Nationalists. Leads to the deployment of a peacekeeping force.
2186: Pro-Martian sentiment on rise. Leads to riot of Neo-Yorkshire. The United Alliance of Earth Nations loses control of Neo-Yorkshire. In Neo-Paris, peacekeeping forces stamp out riots. Known as the Massacre of Neo-Paris.
2187: Because of numerous reasons, including not repenending Earth for sending a peacekeeping force, President Sutton is voted out of office. A pro Martian national, Louis Velasquez, voted as a new president.
2188: President Velasquez demands that Earth's peacekeeping force leave Mars. Threatens war. Peacekeeping force recalled as pro-Martian sympathy on the rise on Earth
2190: Tension is at an all-time high between Mars and Earth.
2192: Propaganda begins to be published on both Earth and Mars.
2193: Drafting of soldiers on Earth is increased. Immigration from Earth is banned. Ships not of military origin are shot on sight.
2194: Recruitment of soldiers on Mars begins. President Velasquez promises to help refugees who want to escape Earth. His speech will go down as hopelessly idealistic for much of history. He is able to allow 50 ships to leave Earth, having the Martian Navy escort the fleeing refugees.
2195: President Velasquez is assassinated by UAEN Intelligence Service. The MDA is thrown into disarray. Elections are put off for two years. Mars is run by a temporary council.
2196: It is discovered that the assassination was a plot of the UAEN. Any Pro Earth Sympathy on Mars falls.
2197: Elections finally begin. War Hawk, Reina Cancino, voted as new president. Having witnessed the Massacre of Neo-Paris, President Sutton's first speech fuels Martian sentiment for indepence and vengeance.
2198: First inter solar war in human history. The Tears of Sol War between United Alliance of Earth Nations and the Mars Democratic Alliance.
2202: MDA captures the UAEN military base on the moon called Artemis.
September 2206: MDA launches invasion of Earth's surface. First countries to fall are those of Westren Europe. Martians are brutal against the populace
October 2206: Riots within Westren Europe. Martians begin losing control of Westren Europe.
November 2206: MDA executes large swaths of Western Europe population. Some are used as test subjects. Martian sympath drops heavily. UAEN launches large counterattacks. Western Europe residence cells coordinate with the UAEN Defense Military.
January 2207: UAEN drives MDA from Earth. Most MDA ground forces are captured and held prisoner.
May 2027: UAEN executes 50% of prisoners on public broadcast. Thr UAEN brodcaste the executions to Mars as well. Execution methods include decapitation, stake burning, and firing squad. Retaliation for the attempted genocide of Eastren Europe. MDA vows increase in their war effort.
July 2207: MDA deploys the Singularity, a new orbital interstellar ship. The largest solar system has seen at the time. It would take 20 years to arrive at Earth due to its size. MDA plans to turn Earth into glass, calling the operation, Operation Hellfire.
December 2210: UAEN votes on what is dubbed the Nova Initiative. Passes with 293 votes over 89 votes.
January 2211: Nova Initative enters startup phase. the Marianas Trench Facility is built.
June 2211: Nova Initiative enters trial phase. Use of live test subjects permitted. The remaining MDA captives are used.
October 2211: Completion of the Nova Initiative. All test subjects declared deceased. UAEN Intelligence deploys a virus on the Martian colony of Neo London. 99% of the population deceased. The symptoms of virus include, blood in urine, blood in cough, necrosis of skin, lethargy, intense pain with no discernable cause that lasts five to twenty seconds, rash, pus filled pustules, and shut down of organs. The symptoms happen over a short period of time.
November 2211: After successful deployment of what in the future would be known as the Nova Virus. Deployment happens in several other Martian cities. And the same fate awaits them as Neo London.
April 2212: Cease fire declared. Martians are giving independence but forced to enter alliance with the UAEN. The Tears of Sol War has the largest death toll in human history so far. Death Toll is in the billions. Memorial set up on Earth and Mars. So that the war will never be forgotten
2216: Relations still poor between Earthians and Martians. (New breakthroughs in medical technology lead to several diseases from bacteria and viruses being wiped out).
2228: First interplanetary children between Martians and Earthians is born. (Naegleria fowleri declared extinct.)
2230: The birth of Martian music genre called Netruon. This music genre is heavy elctronic music with an industrial undertones.
2232: Neutron becomes popular on Earth, raising the relations between the two worlds.
2238: Inspired by Neutron, Earth makes an Earth version that they call Pulsar. This genre of music is heavy electronics with synthetic style sounds.
2239: Martian movie director Ethan Santora teams up with Earthian movie director Henrick Osengar to create a movie depecting the realty of the war. Hailed as one of the best war movies of all time.
2240: First True AI, Karma, created by Earthian and Martian societies. Test begin in on Demois city Neo-Boston
2245: Success of Karma, Neo-Boston turned into a paradise of sorts. Beginning of the Followers of Karma, a cult based around the worship of the AI Karma.
2301: UAEN and MDA relations have gotten stronger. Formation of the Sol Alliance is proposed.
2302: Sol Alliance is formed.
2305: New breakthrough in terraforming technology. The terraforming technology uses techno-organic nanomachines to shape the planets. These nanomachines reduce what would take hundreds of thousands of years to just 100 years. Drones carrying these nanomachines are sent to every moon and planet in the solar system.
