Will I ever be able to have my own income?

2023.03.29 09:29 tangledclouds Will I ever be able to have my own income?

I 27F have a strange situation.
I began working at 18 out of high school at a grocery store part time. I am autistic and it seemed like a good fit for me.
I had to stop at the age of 22 when my body began to require frequent breaks due to pain flares and joint subluxations. I was then diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. I grew up in a neglectful household with little to no medical care.
When I say I couldn't work anymore, I mean I couldn't handle even a 4 hour shift without my body being in agony. I had to stop. I couldn't finish Physical therapy due to how expensive it was.
I have lived off the support of my family, and have recently gotten married. My husband and I will soon be moving in together with my husband's brother.
I do not qualify for disability because I did not earn enough work credits. So, that is not an option for me.
A lawyer has informed me that I also do not quality for SSI because my husband apparently makes too much at $15 an hour as a cook.
Will I ever be able to have my own income? Do I need to try to really buckle down and find the perfect part time job with accommodations? Fight through the pain?
I cannot work full time due to the main physical disability and other conditions.
I just want to help my husband with finances.

2023.03.29 09:25 yungfishstick What's the purpose of the new 200MP sensor?

I'm not sure I understand what the benefits of such a high resolution sensor are, especially considering that it ultimately bins down to 12MP anyway and that the optics themselves can't truly resolve 200MP worth of detail in 200MP mode. If anything there seems to be a disadvantage with using such a high resolution sensor as the pixel size is even smaller than the 108MP sensor's pixel size which was already very small. Camera comparisons have already shown that there's often a fairly negligible difference between the 108MP and 200MP sensors and what differences there are often slightly different handling of white balance and color rendering which don't drastically affect image quality, to me at least.
To me I don't see why Samsung couldn't have just stuck with the 108MP sensor and made refinements to it along with the software a la Google but then again I don't understand why Samsung insists on using crazy high res sensors with a really small pixel size before binning when everybody else, even including Apple of all manufacturers, are sticking to slightly larger 48MP-50MP sensors. Isn't it better if the native pixel size is already large when said pixels, again, will be binned down to 12MP? It seems logical that good in=good out especially when it comes to the physics of light which you can't really get around very easily, unless this just boils down to a game of numbers Samsung is playing to convince people that the bigger number is better. The only real advantage I can think of is that the new 200MP sensor can do 50MP RAW and computational RAW but the 14 Pro Max can do nearly the same thing without any binning at all.

2023.03.29 09:22 continuak Speech Disabilities: How to Overcome the Challenges

Speech disabilities can be a significant challenge for individuals, affecting their communication skills and ability to interact with others. Fortunately, there are ways to overcome these challenges and improve one’s ability to communicate effectively. In this blog post, we will explore some of the strategies that can help individuals with speech disabilities to overcome their challenges.
It is important to note that overcoming speech disabilities may take time and effort, and progress may vary from person to person. However, with persistence and the proper support, individuals with speech disabilities can significantly improve their communication skills and quality of life.
In addition to the strategies mentioned above, several support groups and organizations can provide individuals with speech disabilities with the resources, information, and community they need to overcome their challenges. These organizations can help individuals with speech disabilities connect with others with similar experiences and share strategies for overcoming speech disabilities.
Finally, society needs to become more aware and understanding of speech disabilities and create more inclusive environments that accommodate the needs of individuals with speech disabilities. This can include providing access to assistive technologies and accommodations in public settings and promoting awareness and education about speech disabilities.

Understanding speech disabilities

Speech disabilities can manifest in many ways, including stuttering, slurring, or difficulty articulating words. Various factors, including genetics, neurological disorders, or physical injuries, can cause them. Individuals with speech disabilities may experience frustration, embarrassment, and social isolation due to difficulty communicating with others.

Strategies to overcome speech disabilities

  1. Speech therapy: Speech therapy is a proven method to improve communication skills in individuals with speech disabilities. A qualified speech-language pathologist can work with individuals to develop personalized treatment plans focusing on improving speech and language skills.
  2. Assistive technology: Several assistive technologies are available to help individuals with speech disabilities communicate more effectively. Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices, speech-generating devices, and text-to-speech software are some examples of assistive technology that can aid communication.
  3. Breathing exercises: Breathing exercises can help individuals with speech disabilities to control their breathing, which is essential for effective speech. Exercises like diaphragmatic, pursed lip, and belly breathing can help individuals control their breathing and improve speech.
  4. Practice: Regular practice is essential to improve speech skills. Individuals with speech disabilities should practice speaking in a comfortable and relaxed environment, with family and friends or with a speech therapist. This will help them to build confidence and improve their communication skills.
  5. Acceptance: Finally, individuals with speech disabilities need to accept their condition and focus on their strengths rather than their limitations. Positive thinking and self-confidence can go a long way in improving communication skills and reducing social isolation.

2023.03.29 08:59 Strange_Bonus9044 I Would Like to Bear My Testimony That The Church Feeds Off of Mental Illness

After 22 years of growing up in the church, it is my conclusion, no, my testimony, that the church feeds off of mental illness and unhealthy thinking errors. Whether it be by exacerbating preexisting genetic conditions, or by promoting harmful thinking patterns, the Mormon "Gospel" depends on a mentally and emotionally oppressed people.
I can give my own experience growing up in the church with severe OCD, and more particularly Scrupulosity (religious perfectionism). At times my life was a living hell throughout my teenage years. I took religion so much more seriously than my Utah mormon peers, and I constantly felt like I wasn't good enough or even worth anything at all. I would spend hours begging for forgiveness from God (I later learned this was called a "neutralizing behavior" in clinical terms) and mentally, emotionally, and sometimes physically beating myself for things such as having a sexual thought go through my mind (you can imagine the chaos that caused for a pubescent high school boy) or enjoying my hobbies too much (for fear that I was being "covetous" or "materialistic"). I would frequently confess things like "lapses" in masturbation to my bishop. Therapy was the best thing that ever happened to me. After years of mental acrobatics and deconstructing every doctrine to try and make it logical, I found an excellent treatment center and within six months I went from being the ultimate giga-TMB to completely leaving the church.
I don't blame the church for my OCD, I was born with that. Instead, they put my unhealthy thinking patterns up on a pedestal as an example of excellence, "here is a righteous youth of Zion". I actually had a seminary teacher call me the Captain Moroni of the class, and then express his disappointment in me when I was caught chatting with my classmate while we were supposed to be studying the scriptures quietly.
I don't think someone has to have a chronic anxiety disorder to have a similar experience to me. The church fosters these kinds of thinking patterns even in the absence of a genetic condition and these have very dangerous effects on people. I don't think it's a coincidence that Utah earned the nickname "the suicide belt". Thankfully I had a loving family and people people that supported me along the way, both church members and not. I'm ok now, I finally got the help I needed and I'm just beginning to experience the indescribable magnificence and joy of a free life. However, if I could give my younger self and every teenager in my previous position one piece of advice, it would be this: run away from the Church for your lives.

2023.03.29 08:57 litingkty7 I abused my dog when I had anger issues. Understandably she’s still afraid/nervous around me. How I do earn her trust again

I know it’s not an excuse, but I’d like to share my reason, I’ll keep it short. I was physically abused, still getting abused, since the age of 4. I’m 23 now. Due to me being an immigrant, I’m unable to get a job to get out of the house and my birth country just gives me severe anxiety. Only about 2 years ago did I start to open my mind and comfort zone and started learning/unlearning things. We got a maltipoo a year ago. I have intrusive OCD. Initially I agreed that these were just thoughts and was able to ignore them. But then whenever my dog (let’s call her P) didn’t understand me or ran around peeing, probably because she was afraid to pee in my sight, I’d yell at her and shake her. I’d then pull her by her ears. At the worst, I smacked her. The following is purely because of an accident thanks to my breaking bed, but I think made her feel that I did it intentionally. One time I was clipping her toenails and accidentally hit a nerve, she bit my pinky and I tried to push her off but she skidded and fell of the bed. Another time I was just playing with her, though carelessly, and my bed caved in and I fell through and couldn’t catch her, and she fell of the bed again and got a concussion. A month after that happened I started to lose patience with her again.
I understand that I’m a spineless asshole who doesn’t deserve the gift that is dogs. I got a soft diagnosis for anger issues and as mentioned earlier, OCD and dysthymia. I can’t afford therapy but I read a lot of articles and entries online, tried to match it with my symptoms and tried to follow their methods. It had been about 4 months since. I understand that I don’t deserve forgiveness, but I don’t want her to fear me, she doesn’t deserve that. She still bows her head in fear whenever I’m near her, walks in a crouched manner and when I try to train her (I’ve never hit/or shouted at her now) she immediately runs into my lap and whimpers. I’m not sure if I should just leave her alone because she still comes after me and jumps to carry her when I’m on a bed or sofa. I know it’s too much of an. ask, but is it possible to have a normal relationship with her ever again?

2023.03.29 08:27 kittymercadoo *UPDATE* My (23F) friendship is over because my boyfriend (23M) decided to cut ties with one of my good friends (22F)

Original Post: https://www.reddit.com/relationships/comments/11pb6qk/i_23f_feel_like_ive_lost_a_valuable_friendship/
TL;DR: Boyfriend decided that friendship was too inconvenient and strained our relationship so much that he ended the friendship (which he says he didn't take very seriously to begin with), while also thinking that doing so would somehow save my friendship with that person (I asked him specifically not to do that). Instead, she was angry at me and him and ultimately decided to end our friendship completely. Bf and I are both seeking individual therapy because this issue seems to involve something deeper with my insecurities, but also his lack of a serious attitude towards his friendships in general.
I set some boundaries with John. I told him that when he goes out with friends, especially Mary, that he should just call me when he's completely alone so that he can give me his full attention to avoid misunderstandings, but most importantly, that he needs to watch his language around me because it feels kind of devastating to my feelings when he says something like "balancing yours and Mary's feelings" or mixing us up or claiming that he "didn't meant to become friends with her".
Realistically speaking, if John did have feelings for Mary (which is my suspicion), I don't actually think I mind because the important thing is that he's respecting my boundaries, being mindful of me, and, of course, that he doesn't physically cheat on me (I don't mind him having emotional friendships because my personal take is that it's a normal, healthy and human thing to have multiple emotional relationships/friendships in your life). But I also made it clear that in the future, we need to have a conversation to acknowledge which friends we have that we share, but that I also need my own friends (and that I will not be okay with it if he seeks one-on-one chats/hang-outs with them moving forward because it is violating my own emotional needs. If it were me, the only reason that I would hang out with one of his friends one-on-one is because we are putting something together for John).
He agreed, but said that the situation with Mary felt out of hand (in the sense that he did not want to deal with finding boundaries or feeling guilty about the shift in my relationship with her), and he felt that the boundaries that I set still felt accusatory. So he decided to stop being friends with her (which I insisted was not necessary). But then, he suddenly didn't want to tell her why and wanted me to talk to her instead.
So I did. I didn't want to say nothing because Mary and I had both had it happen that our friends started dating and then ghosted us, and I didn't want John to ghost her because it was a frustrating experience. I had a phone call with her and explained that John decided to end their friendship, and I explained the background of some of our issues and tried to make it clear that the issue was primarily that John and I were having communication problems and that for some reason, he didn't want to solve them when it came to her but instead preferred to withdraw completely.
Mary got very upset. She said that she felt like I was making her the problem in this situation(and I reiterated that this was mostly about John's communication and violating my boundaries) and that she doesn't know why I would tell her that, then she said that she doesn't want to be friends anymore, but would be open to trying again in the future. I can understand her feeling weird, but I think it's one thing to say "I still care about you, but I want some space because I don't want to feel involved" and another to say "I don't want to deal with this so we aren't friends at all until you figure this out on your own"
I'm kind of shocked. I thought that I was doing the right thing by letting her in on what's going on after all (given the change in the circumstances), but I also feel like John kind of threw me under the bus by not talking to her after all. He insisted that he didn't want to because he didn't have the emotional capacity to deal with the situation anymore and also that I'd made him promise not to (but this promise was months ago, and about me not wanting him to tell Mary that I have insecurities about her.... not about him not talking to her at all). Then again, I also feel like my friendship with Mary was actually a matter of what was emotionally convenient for her because she immediately decided not only to put distance, but to completely run away when the situation seemed emotionally inconvenient for her.
It's put a real strain on mine and John's relationship, and John kind of told me that he's worried that he's toxic because I was right and I did lose a friend as I predicted, and I wasn't sure how to respond so I just mentioned that I feel that, since we're a couple now, it isn't really fair to take actions that involve people that I also have a relationship with without trying to respect my feelings or how my own relationship with that person will be impacted when he does something with them. I don't know if this was a fair thing to say, but he decided to get in touch with his old therapist to address some of his own self-destructive emotional habits, and I'm looking for one as well because I can't cope with a lot of these changes or some of John's emotional needs on my own while minding myself + processing.
I don't think it's completely solved, but I think that we can slowly think about healing. If there are any additional insights though, they would still be much appreciated.

2023.03.29 08:17 Dependent-Pay-8132 Androgen Deficiency on Birth Control fixed with DHEA?

I just posted this in the birthcontrol subreddit. Let me know if anyone here understands what I am trying to get at. Im sure this could be considered slightly “off topic,” but as far as im concerned, this is as related to TRT (for women) as an enclomiphene citrate question is for men. Please skip to the TLDR if the first half is too abstract for the non-medical-professional. Thanks!
Hey im a straight male who is very interested in sex hormone endocrinology. I have done a lot of consultations with other men on black market anabolic, androgenic steroid usage (roided up gym douchebags, yes I know).
My question today is if anyone was able to correct androgen (primarily testosterone and DHT) deficiency that is induced by hpoa/hpaa down-regulation from the exogenous ethyl estradiol and progestin used in combined oral birth control? Has anyone ever taken blood labs for total/free testosterone, DHEA, DHT, and SHBG before and after starting “the pill?” If my understanding is correct, all of those measurements should decrease after starting BC (which is in fact steroids by the way) except for the sex hormone binding globulin increasing, all (generally speaking) being very bad news for the patient. If you started BC and developed low sex drive, depressed mood, lack of motivation, and/or decreased physical performance in the gym, then you are likely inducing an androgen deficiency by taking outside steroids (once again BC is just two 17-carbon, 4-ringed steroid molecules just like testosterone). I will repeat this: IF YOU STARTED BC AND DEVELOPED LOW SEX DRIVE, DEPRESSED MOOD, LACK OF MOTIVATION, AND/OR DECREASED PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE IN THE GYM, THEN YOU ARE LIKELY SELF-INDUCING AN ANDROGEN DEFICIENCY.
My solution is to add in DHEA since it is the most upstream androgen and should convert to testosterone and therefore testosterone metabolites as well, even with the hpoa and hpaa suppression mentioned earlier. The reason DHEA would be the solution is because the body can take the right amount and turn it into testosterone/testosterone-metabolites, BUT (VERY BIG BUT HERE) the body wont allow too much to convert to testosterone and wont cause virilizing (manly) side effects because the body will sulfonate the excess and excrete it on a longer timeline since the sulfonated form has maybe 20-30x the half life, if i remember correctly.
TLDR: there are 3 types of sex hormones - progestogens (pregnenolone, progesterone, synthetic progestins in BC…), estrogens (estrone, estriol, regular and ethyl estradiol…), and androgens (DHEA, testosterone, DHT…) - and they are carried by SHBG (sex hormone binding globulin). Combined oral birth control shuts down the body’s production of all three of these but only replaces two of them, all while raising SHBG (which lowers the proportion of “free” hormone out of “total” hormone). Has anyone added DHEA to their combined oral birth control to fix this problem ??? Im not an expert on female sex hormone endocrinology, but this seems to be a lot safer to do at home since you shouldnt be taking too much androgen, and DHEA, by itself, is such a weak androgen that it is only the metabolites we care about in the body outside of the brain. Once again, the body usually knows how to metabolize it into the correct ratios of downstream androgenic hormones since it is a bio-identical hormone, unlike ethyl estradiol and synthetic progestins needed for birth control to prevent pregnancy. I think the safety of this therapy is shown through the fact that Testosterone is a schedule III narcotic in the USA, but DHEA is available over-the-counter for 9 year olds to buy (please dont give a 9 year old access to any of these medications).
My final point is that if you want to try this out relatively safely, i would highly suggest starting out by only using a very low dose of DHEA - maybe 5mg per day or less. For reference, the usual male replacement dose is between 25-50mg per day, but i have technically seen cisgender women on doses higher than that. However, normal female replacement dosages are maybe somewhere closer to 15mg per day. My recommendations for OTC brands are pure encapsulations or life extensions.
Please consult a physician before doing any of this. I highly doubt this is likely, but there is a realm-of-possibility chance that my method will make your combined oral BC less effective. Your doc will likely give the green light for trying this if you are interested (until you tell them that you heard this from a roided-up douche on the internet lol). Legally speaking, this is general medical information, not specific medical advice! Any thoughts from anyone will be much appreciated.

Does anyone know if it‘s possible to personalize a bag from the original line? I‘m on their website and can only see the personalization option for the Club & Signature lines.
Any help would be great. I have really bad social anxiety, and thinking of calling up one of the stores is super scary. This purchase is going to be my post-therapy TLC!

2023.03.29 08:08 nobody_important12 Does Anyone else feel Intense Shame about Excersizing?

I'm not sure if this sounds crazy or not, but I actively avoid excersize because I'm fat, at least when there are people around. Like when I go to class and my class is on the 3rd floor, I take the elevator instead of the stairs because I don't want people to hear me struggle. My friends go hiking and I say I can't go because I don't want to be huffing and puffing and for them to think it's stupid. Even when I'm on my own it's hard because I don't want people to think I'm trying to be thin because I feel like going on a walk today. I feel like this just makes me feel worse physically because I never excersize, but I just get such crippling anxiety from doing it and it makes me feel terrible to try because going alone makes me afraid people think I'm trying to lose weight, and going with someone makes me self conscious that I seem "so fat" or so out of shape.
Anyone have solutions for this? Exposure therapy doesn't feel like it will work because I CANT bring myself to do it and no one around me feels supportive.

2023.03.29 08:02 NoSupermarket6218 In a new relationship abroad but I still can not get over my ex

I met my (28) ex (28) around 4 years ago in a dating app, we started as purely friends because we lived in different cities, but we were talking everyday and eventually we became very close, specially during the pandemic, at that point it was like being in an unofficial long distance relationship, we were doing video calls everyday and looking out for each other.
Eventually we got the chance to spend some days together in person and we finally had intimacy and it was great, we had the time of our lives. The only problem is that I knew that I was going to move to USA in one year since I had an offer for my dream job, but that didn’t stop him from asking me to be his boyfriend. I was seriously concerned about the distance (since I had tried before and failed miserably hurting everyone involved) but he told me that we would figure it out and I decided to trust him.
We were a regular couple for about a year and it was awesome, but during that time I was looking into ways for he to come with me, none of them was a real option at the time though, unless he worked towards getting his own visa, which he didn’t do at all (lately he would tell me he got diagnosed with executive dysfunction) and it would had taken more than a year anyway. The only option to stay together was to get married and for he to come as a dependent without being able to work at all, which sounded extremely risky and would have put a lot of pressure on me.
So we didn’t get married and he didn’t get his own visa and I moved to USA alone, and a couple months afterwards and without plans to be together, we eventually broke up (he broke up with me to set me free and I agreed).
After that it was really turbulent and confusing, he was giving me very confusing signals. We kept talking regularly and occasionally flirting, but he would say things like “I’m sure you’re the love of my life and I don’t care if you get married, I’m going to win you back eventually” and “We are never getting back together because I don’t want to feel that unloved again”. He got even more extreme creating a elaborated long term plan to get his own visa, improve his appearance and win be back but also abruptly deciding to date someone else over trivial stuff like me not asking how his day was going.
With all theses mixed signals I started assuming it was not meant to be since he didn’t work to make it happen and he was changing his mind really quickly. So I started dating seriously again 6 months after our oficial break up. (After also talking to my therapist, since it was tough to be in a new country alone and I was going through more stuff).
I met a really cute and smart guy (28) and we happened to get along greatly. It is his first relationship (and first time having intimacy) so he wanted to go very slowly, and it was perfect for me because I was not completely over my ex, and also he is relatively young and learning about relationships and we both had uncertainty about our long term future, so I thought it was the perfect match for a temporary relationship with the potential of becoming a long term thing if things went well.
I told my ex about the new guy out of respect for both, and he didn’t take it well but he kept working on himself and trying to move on. (While still making clear that his plans to move to the same city were still on)
Some months ago I went to my home country for the holidays and he told me he has a new boyfriend (35), and I didn’t take it well. That’s when I realized that I had been unconsciously sabotaging my new relationship (for example, avoiding making it official, or saying “I love you” despite being dating for almost a year) because I was still waiting for my ex to “win me back”.
It’s been 4 months since I found out about the new relationship, and I am taking therapy, but I haven’t been able to move on, I’m terribly anxious and depressed and I’m not able to be productive at work at all. The fact that I work in tech and I know there will be more layoffs at my company soon (forcing me to go back to my country) doesn’t help. I’m not even sure why I feel this way, but I think there are several factors and all of them make me feel overwhelmed and like a shitty person.
  1. My ex’s new boyfriend makes me feel insecure, he is a lot like me but he is older, taller, cuter, a doctor and in general seems to be a great guy and a good person. It hurts like hell to think that the love of my life and who swore to win be back not matter what, replaced me with an “upgrade”.
  2. I still see my ex as the love of my life. After all these years and the awesome chemistry we have in both personality and sex, being each others first true love, same age, same height, each other’s type, similar occupations and disorders (adhd and neurodivergents). I know we’re not perfect but I want to marry him and take care of him and have him in my life forever, I truly think we had the purest love but we made stupid decisions. And I think he might feel the same way but he is still trying to move on for whatever reason (including that distance is still an issue).
But also I think I might be holding on to him, because he is the most stable thing I’ve had in my life and my work situation is making my whole life unstable. A part of me wants to get laid off so we can be in the same country, or to propose, and I know…that’s intense.
  1. I feel shitty for feeling this way while being in a new relationship, since all this started I was thinking of letting my current boyfriend know and even break up, but people advised me not to do it, since I would only hurt him and maybe destroy the awesome relationship I have now.
But also, could all this be a reflection of my unhappiness in my new relationship? The guy is great, he is a catch and husband material, I feel extremely lucky to have him in my life. But I’m not completely satisfied in some aspects of our relationship…
* We don’t do as many things together as I would like to (I always go to my friend’s parties alone, for instance)
* Sexual chemistry is not the best…. For example it takes me a long time to finish with him, I consider him objectively very attractive but since he is not physically my usual type he doesn’t turn me on as much as my ex or other guys, and also there are things we cannot physically do at all like me being the bottom (phimosis) and he has no intentions of trying to make it work soon. And it sucks to feel this way, because I do think he is very hot.
* He is a grad student, so he doesn’t have much time or money to do fun stuff together like going out or traveling (and he doesn’t want me to pay), we meet at most twice a week and we mostly stay in. It makes me a bit frustrated because I wanted to enjoy what’s left of my twenties now that I’m finally making decent money and I can’t do it with my boyfriend.
So I don’t know, I feel like the right thing to do is to break up with my current boyfriend, tell my ex how I feel and if he doesn’t feel same way, look for another partner that hopefully satisfies me in what is important for me in a boyfriend right now. I feel shallow but those things are driving me crazy.
Bu I’m afraid of going through another breakup I will regret and of letting unrealistic expectations ruin a good relationship, and maybe end up alone and in a worse place. I do think my current boyfriend is truly special and I’ll never find someone like him, we’re a pretty good match despite those issues.

New Research Says Physical Exercise Should Be First Choice For Mental Health Treatment
A team of Australian scientists conducted a comprehensive analysis of over 100 individual trials involving more than 11,000 participants and found "inconclusive evidence" that physical exercise improves cognitive ability. However, they did find that exercise was the best treatment for both anxiety and depression, reducing depressive symptoms by 42 to 60 percent, which was 150 percent more effective than pharmaceuticals or Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. Every kind of exercise worked and was a big improvement over doing nothing. The study emphasizes that mental health is often pushed to the fringe of health care, and lifestyle adjustments like exercise, sleep hygiene, and a healthy diet, are rarely prescribed to patients in treatment by medical doctors

2023.03.29 07:59 West-Panic-7925 Signs of Depression

Signs of Depression

How does someone go from being happy and hard-working to sad, sluggish, and distant? How does someone who was once so lively and energetic lose their energy and motivation? Does this sound like you or someone you know? Feeling sad sometimes is normal; everyone feels sad from time to time. However, if this sadness continues over a period of several months or even longer, this may actually be depression.
Depression is a mental illness characterized by prolonged sadness that has life-altering effects. Depression is accompanied by symptoms that can show up differently in everyone; a few common signs of depression include fatigue, loss of interest in activities you once enjoyed, irritability, excessive sleeping, increased appetite or loss of appetite, and even physical pain. Depression can prevent you from living your daily life, and it can start to affect those around you. If left untreated, depression can put you at risk for suicide. Depression is an illness of the mind that takes over your life and can make you feel worthless. Depression is a chemical imbalance that requires treatment by a mental health professional. It is important to remember that having depression and seeking help for your disorder is not a sign of weakness; in fact, managing and treating your depression is a sign of great strength.
There are ways to combat this vicious condition, and the first step is getting help. If you or someone you know are showing signs of depression, consulting with a mental health professional is essential. Finding the right treatment plan may take some time, but it is important that you work with your therapist to educate yourself on your condition and learn how to manage your symptoms. The mental health professionals you work with will be able to determine whether medication is the right option for you; however, medication alone might not be the best solution. Lifestyle changes like healthy diet, exercise, and regular therapy sessions in combination with medication can be even more effective in improving your overall mental health than any one of these practices alone. Finding a support system can also prove to be extremely beneficial. Mental health is typically shrouded in negative stigmas, and many people don’t understand what mental illnesses like depression truly entail; finding a trusted friend, family member, or mental health counselor to who understands and is willing to support you can be very helpful on your mental health journey.
If you think you or someone you know is showing signs of depression, contact Emergent Counseling and Consulting.

In the age of digital technology, there is a new and growing threat to be aware of: online extortion. It’s a type of cyber attack that involves criminals attempting to obtain money or sensitive information from victims by threatening them with public exposure or physical harm. It’s important to be aware of this threat as it can happen to anyone at any time. In this blog post, we will cover what online extortion is, how it happens, and what you can do to protect yourself. We'll also discuss some common targets for these attacks and how you can stay vigilant for signs of any suspicious activity.

What is online extortion?

If you've ever been the victim of online extortion, you know how scary and overwhelming it can be. Online extortion is when someone threatens to release private or sensitive information about you unless you pay them money. This could be anything from embarrassing photos or videos to confidential financial information.
Extortionists will often target people who they think are vulnerable or who they have some kind of dirt on. They may also target businesses in an effort to get a ransom from them. No matter who the target is, online extortion is a serious crime that can have devastating consequences.
If you receive a threat like this, it's important not to panic. Take some time to assess the situation and figure out if the person making the threat actually has the information they claim to have. If they do, try to negotiate with them and see if you can come up with a mutually satisfactory resolution.
If you're being extorted, it's also important to contact law enforcement right away. They can help you deal with the situation and may even be able to catch the person responsible. Don't let online extortionists intimidate or control you - take action and get help if needed.

How does online extortion work?

There are a few different ways that online extortion can work. One common method is for someone to hack into your computer and then threaten to release sensitive information unless you pay them a ransom. They may also threaten to launch a denial of service attack against your website or business unless you pay them.
Another common way that online extortion works is through sextortion. This is where someone gets access to your sexually explicit photos or videos and then threatens to release them publicly unless you pay them. They may also threaten to send the photos or videos to your family, friends, or employer if you don’t pay up.
If you receive any kind of extortion threat, it’s important not to panic. You should also not try to negotiate with the person who is making the threats. The best thing to do is to contact law enforcement and let them handle it.

Who is at risk for online extortion?

There are many people who are at risk for online extortion. This includes anyone who has an online presence, including a website, social media account, or even just an email address. Online extortion can happen to anyone, regardless of their age, gender, or location. However, there are some groups of people who are more at risk than others. This includes people who work in high-profile occupations, such as celebrities, politicians, and business executives. It also includes people who have a lot of money or valuable possessions.

What are the consequences of online extortion?

There are a number of potential consequences that can result from online extortion. The most common consequence is financial loss, as the victim is typically demanded to pay a ransom in order to prevent the release of sensitive information or images. In some cases, the victim may also experience emotional distress as a result of the blackmail attempt. Additionally, online extortion can also lead to reputational damage if the sensitive information or images that are released are highly damaging to the victim's personal or professional life.

How to protect yourself from online extortion

If you are the victim of online extortion, the first thing you should do is contact the police. If you have been threatened with physical harm, you should also contact your local FBI office.
There are a few things you can do to protect yourself from online extortion:
  • Keep all of your personal information private. This includes your home address, phone number, email address, and social media accounts.
  • Never meet someone you met online in person. This is especially true if you have only communicated with them online.
  • Do not open emails or attachments from someone you do not know. This can give them access to your computer and potentially allow them to blackmail you.
  • Use strong passwords for all of your online accounts and never reuse passwords.
Online extortion can be a serious crime, even though it may not seem like it at first. By being aware of the different tactics used by criminals to carry out this type of fraud and taking measures to protect yourself online, you can help ensure that you are not a victim of online extortion. If you do happen to receive any suspicious communications or demands for money, always remember to report them immediately and seek legal advice if necessary.

2023.03.29 07:23 Dependent-Pay-8132 Androgen deficiency on BC fixed with DHEA?

2023.03.29 07:20 Jwilliquette Will I ever be able to lift again?

I have to know… This is bugging me horribly… I had the smallest little tricep injury and 6 months later I’m still dealing with complications from it. Nothing severe at all, my everyday daily life is mostly unaffected, but when I try to partake in hobbies of mine like lifting I get intense pain and tingling. Apparently my tricep healed in a manner that bugs my ulnar nerve. Idrk the specifics I just know that my left arm can’t support weight while bent past 90 degrees.
Anyways, I have a surgery scheduled for April 12th, a subcutaneous ulnar nerve transposition surgery, and I’m genuinely concerned about whether or not I’ll be able to lift afterwards. I’m only 21 years old, and being knocked off of my exercise routine has practically flipped my world upside down, I’m horrified that this will become the new norm.
Has anyone here gotten the surgery and returned to weight lifting? I don’t care how long it took I just want to know that all hope isn’t lost.
For context. I have no nerve damage, just inflammation of the nerve with comparatively minor symptoms that haven’t resolved with physical therapy.
