After weeks and weeks of deliberating between getting a standing scooter like a Ninebot ES4, or an ebike like the Radrunner plus, Lectric 3.0 or Ariel X-Class, we ultimately ended up with a 2022 NIU MQI+ Sport electric scootemoped, and we couldn't be happier! Max speed about 30 mph, range between 35-40 miles, and carries two people easily.
We have been driving around Seattle city with two people on it, and haven't had any problems going up any hills except for the steepest one we could find (about grade 16-17), where we got 2/3rds of the way up and then I had to get off the back and my husband was able to ride up the rest of the hill. Otherwise, it has crushed every other hill up to grade 15 with both of us on it to our surprise!
Sometimes we wonder if going with the Ariel X or D ebike would have been more fun, but the NIU is really practical and comfortable. We got it to commute within the city and do errands/groceries. The main reason we went with the NIU in the end were the safety features. It has a built in GPS in case it's stolen, good alarm and motion sensing detector that alerts you on the phone if your bike is touched, moved or knocked over. We figured it would be much easier to lift one of the other 55-75lb ebikes into someone's truck, as opposed to this 160lb motorbike. Coupled with a thick chain lock that has an alarm if anyone touches it, we feel pretty secure with the NIU!
If there was one thing we wish we had, it's the ability to get on the highway! Dreaming of the Onyx RCR motorbike... maybe in the future when we're tired of the NIU, but for now we're really enjoying it! The GT Evo is an option two, but that was about double the price of the MQI Sport at about $6000, and there has been a lot of reported problems with it. So far though we've been really happy with The NIU Scooter, and would definitely recommend it for anyone considering it!

I want to preface this by saying i know not everyone believes in the leap/wonder week thing and i’m not a firm believer either. For the previous leaps timeline didn’t really line up for us but man, as soon as leap 4 started for my son, he started a nursing strike. The coincidence is insane. We’ve gone to his pediatrician to check and according to her he’s fine. Nothing has changed in my diet or his care situation. He just straight up refused to nurse on my boobs when awake. He only nurses when super drowsy and i know feeding to sleep is frowned upon but that’s the only way i can give him some calories right now… i’m pretty sure if this goes one he’ll lose weight. He doesn’t take the bottle either. I feel like my mental health is suffering and husband is worried about me. An HR representative contacted me on Friday to let me know that there had been an error in their system and I was going to have to pay for my benefits retroactively.
According to the rep, there was an error in the system that accidentally terminated me. As a result, my HSA contributions and insurance cost had not been deducted. Now she says I have to retroactively pay for them. However, the more I think about it the more I don’t want to because I was essentially uninsured during that period. I have a bike with Rival eTap, with a Flattop chain. I've been using Squirt Lube but am considering "upgrading" to proper waxing with molten wax. Afaik the usual method is to have a couple of chains that you rotate through when it's time to wax again, so you can just take off the current chain, put on the new waxed chain and then clean/re-wax the one you just took off. That obviously requires taking off the quicklink every time you switch chains (every 300km as per recommendation, which is about a weeks worth of riding for me currently). SRAM Flattop Powerlock quick-links (2-5€ per piece) explicitly state that they can not be reused. If I follow the guidelines, I'd have to buy 100-200€ worth of quick-links per year. In the grand scheme of what I spend on my bike that's not much, but it still seems like a massive waste.
Does anyone wax their flattop chains with molten wax? How do you do it? New quick-link every time? Re-use the quick-links against Sram instruction? Afaik there are no aftermarket 12s flattop quick-links that are reusable or cheaper.
