GTA 6 And A Return To Miami Allegedly Teased In Red Dead Redemption 2
2023.03.29 09:41 StepwiseUndrape574 GTA 6 And A Return To Miami Allegedly Teased In Red Dead Redemption 2
For quite some time, there have been several leaks regarding the eventual Grand Theft Auto 6, including an alleged return to Vice City. Up until now, these leaks have been generally unfounded, but a new teaser discovered in Red Dead Redemption 2 may give credence to what we have heard about GTA 6.
Earlier this week, content creator StrangeMan discovered what appeared to be a GTA 6 teaser within a point of interest in Red Dead Redemption 2 (RDR2). Near the Sea of Coronado, players can find a skeleton of a Jesuit Missionary called “Brother Rodolfo,” along with a rather interesting letter he brought. The letter mentions that Rodolfo was called to the east by God; however, the writer, Cardinal Blanco, begs him to stay in California and not leave the mission.
Play
StrangeMan interprets this as an internal struggle between Rockstar games writer Dan Houser, represented by Cardinal Blanco, and creative Sam Houser, represented by Brother Rodolfo. Of course, the mention of staying in California over heading east is likely about continuing work on GTA 5 versus making GTA 6. Moreover, StrangeMan believes that the letter alludes to TakeTwo Interactive’s view of the GTA franchise and disagreements between Rockstar and the publisher.
letter gta 6 possibly teased in rdr2 Image Courtesy of StrangeMan
However, “Cardinal Blanco,” or Dan Houser, mentions that sticking with GTA 5 or moving to GTA 6 has pros and cons, but he wants his brother Sam to stick around for a little while longer. Interestingly, it appears that StrangeMan does not really dive into the line that says, “Please stay in California until I arrive next March.” Perhaps this could mean that the team will reassess if they want to move forward with GTA 6, or it could simply be a red herring.
Despite the multiple possible meanings of this letter that StrangeMan goes over, it is quite interesting to see that GTA 6 is being discussed and there is possible debate over sticking with GTA V. As always, money talks, but if GTA 5 is beat to death, fans could lose interest in future titles. Either way, it will be interesting to see if Rockstar comments on the teaser, so stay tuned to HotHardware for updates.

2023.03.29 09:36 Hatoki How to best Caulk/Seal particular area?
Hi there, writing to you from Melbourne Australia.

We moved into a new house, has a newly renovated bathroom.
What we discovered is that running between the vanity and the inbuilt bath/shower is a small gap. No worries, looks odd, but ok. Dont understand why they put the vanity so close to the bath like this while still leaving a gap. Either join them up, or have a "good size" gap. But whatever, is what it is.
However.... The issue is, running down the wall (ie vertically, from the top of the bath to the tiles on the floor), there is no caulking done. It is just a small gap in the tiles. It is hard to see, but if you look at Image 1 and 2, you can see that the caulking/sealing has been done to a point, then it is just a gap that runs up vertically against the wall, alongside the vanity and bath (ie against the wall itself). Note I am not here refering to the obvious gap in Image 3 (will come to this later).
We are worried that water can spill over from the vanity sink (we have a little one who likes to make a mess), run down the side of the vanity in that gap, and then find it's way into the area that isnt caulked/sealed. Meaning over the long term we get water in behind the wall tiles.
I hope that makes sense, I'm not super technical in my descriptions.
We had a caulkesealer come in to see if they had some sort of super long/thin caulking piece that could get in there and run up and down along the wall, but they didnt.
We also cant really remove the vanity, because that has been caulked/sealed into the wall itself (plus the stone top/ in built sink. Seems like quite a big undertaking for such a small thing.
So I am thinking the path of least resistence is to put some sort of cover over the gap between the vanity and the bath (ie the real obvious small gap in Image 3 that runs horizontally from the wall to the edge of the vanity on the left).
However, I dont know what i could really put there. I suspect some sort of piece of plastic or something I could lay on top? Would be keen for any ideas. OR if this is a terrible idea, perhaps a reasonable alternative?
Sorry if this is a silly and basic question, however I dont really have anyone to ask or experience with this. Just a bit stressed on this idea of water getting into the walls.
Anyway, really appreciate it if you read this far. Thank you so much.
Edit, sorry for the gross bottom up view, I guess thats the issue with a floating vanity :)

2023.03.29 09:01 itsupikiokami86 Risk it for career or not
I (f36)have changed my life a few times now, I went from nothing and studied for 5 years to get into the profession I wanted. From there I've worked my way up and then got placed onto a masters course through work which opens doors into my desired role. I have been seconded to uni and now I have reached a dilemma. My old role is being held open for me, its a fairly new department, and whilst I enjoyed it for the time I was there for I found it very stressful and I did not utilise all the skills I acquired. Attending uni and undertaking the role I am doing now has opened my eyes to how stressed I was. I now look forward to work. I did enjoy some aspects of my old role, it worked well with my work-life balance and I'm well respected there. I went to visit for a meeting yesterday and it was lovely having colleagues stopping to say hello and saying how much they missed me. I enjoy living near family and the local gym which I've made some lovely friends through. I've established a good network where I am now. However, going back to my old role means I'm unlikely to experience the career advancement I want. I will have opportunities but not in the same way, due to the area being rural, people who are in the positions I want are likely to be there for many years to come. So I would have to accept that I would stay in my previous role. However, I've had a job opportunity that would mean taking a huge risk to work in the area I want. It would mean entering as a leader into a new team and a new area I know nothing about. I am doing some research but you can't really know the real ins and outs until you're there. It would mean uprooting and relocating to an area where I know no one, I wouldn't have the support system I have here and being quite introverted I'm not one to join a load of clubs and classes. I would attend the gym over there but it's a large chain franchise rather than a smaller local gym. I'm going over and over it in my head. If I take the new job it means definite career advancement, it sounds like I'd have support to adjust to my new role and to get used to the area. But I guess the fear of the unknown is worrying me. I do love being near to the countryside. I'd be moving to a small city. I have lived in Manchester before for 10 years before settling back down in my home town. I really don't know what to think or do anymore. I keep trying to weigh up the pros and cons but something keeps making me fearful or worried about taking the plunge and moving. Maybe it's the feeling of safety here and having that network of family and friends around me. I have no children and I don't have a partner. I live alone independently now so it's family and friends who are close by that I spend a lot of my free time with. I feel I'd be walking away from that and then sitting in a house in a city I don't know totally alone and lonely. For the job I really want. There isn't a change in salary for the job initially but as I've said, it does offer a better opportunity for career advancement in the future which I am keen on. I do feel If I choose to stay where I am now I will be saying goodbye to my career and I'd need to find some happiness in what I'm doing now. There would be other openings in other locations in the future but there are always a large number of people going for the role. I did extremely well to get offered the position, especially when I am not currently part of that team. Thank you in advance I know its a lot to read.

2023.03.29 09:00 dspeyer EA Forum Digest 29 Mar 2023
This is a transcript of the speech philosopher Agnes Callard gave at the Aims of Education address at the University of Chicago. A central theme of the address is to think about one’s future as going beyond our own lifespan, and beyond the lifespan of everyone we know. She gives her own views on why we care about the future. Even though I don’t agree with everything she said, the speech takes an interesting perspective on the long-run future and I found parts pretty inspiring. (It's long, so I added a lot of highlights that are hopefully useful for skimming.)

When we're trying to do AI alignment, we're often studying systems which don't yet exist. This is a pretty weird epistemic activity, and seems really hard to get right. This post offers one frame for thinking about what we're actually doing when we're thinking about AI alignment: using parts of the space of maps to reason about parts of the space of intelligent systems.
In this post, we:
We hope that the content is mostly the second kind of obvious: obvious once you see things in this way, which you maybe already do. In our experience, this comes with a risk: reading too fast, you may miss most of the nuance and useful insight the deceptively simple model brings, or come away with a version of the model which is rounded off to something less useful (i.e. "yeah, there is this map and territory distinction"). As a meta recommendation, we suggest reading this post slowly, and ideally immediately trying to apply the model to some confusion or disagreement about AI alignment.

I explore the pros and cons of different approaches to estimation. In general I find that:
These differences are only significant in situations of high uncertainty, characterised by a high ratio between confidence interval bounds. Otherwise, simpler approaches (point estimates & the arithmetic mean) are fine.
I am chiefly interested in how we can make better estimates from very limited evidence. Estimation strategies are key to sanity-checks, cost-effectiveness analyses and forecasting.
Speed and accuracy are important considerations when estimating, but so is legibility; we want our work to be easy to understand. This post explores which approaches are more accurate and when the increase in accuracy justifies the increase in complexity.

Core examples Point estimates are fine for multiplication, lossy for division Interval estimates are prone to bias General findings: interval vs point estimates A high ratio between interval bounds implies positive skew General findings: normal vs lognormal The geometric mean is usually better than the arithmetic mean Weighted means General findings: aggregate estimates Changes
In Toby Ord's "The Value Of Money Going to Different Groups", footnote 9 states: “it isn’t more important to help someone living on $200 per year (at official exchange rates) in a place where PPP is high than someone on the same amount where PPP is low”.
This isn’t right; PPP(purchasing power parity) doesn’t matter if the elasticity parameter η=1, but it does matter if η≠1 (so in particular, the estimates in the article for η=2 are only correct for comparing contexts with equal PPPs).
To show this, consider again the utility function:

There is some discussion on the forum about using AI to detect whether or not something is a deepfake, and perhaps some trust in anti-deepfake bots to be better resourced etc. in this arms race. But could we give ourselves a bit of breathing room here?
Could it be incredibly valuable to accelerate desensitization to deepfakes? Or at least make people more aware of them by using humor?
It seems like a real risk that someone eventually creates a convincing and harmful deepfake, a la current President saying, "America has launched nuclear weapons against Russia." Or vice versa or literally anything bad, with voice and video, that to our eyes is Very Real and Convincingly Terrible.

2023.03.29 08:59 Responsible_King1465 (Looking for advice) L1B to EB1: CP vs AOS?
Hi everyone -
I am a Canadian citizen - been living & working in the US since September 2017. After several extensions, my L1B visa will (at last!!!) expire in May 2023 Very thankfully, my employer has agreed to sponsor me for EB1 GC. We’ve been working with our immigration lawyer and I was just informed that my PERM labor certificate was approved just last week, and we are ready to move forward with, so I’ve told, the last stage of getting my GC…
I am now in a position to apply for I-140 (will be premium processed) & pick which option I want to move forward with: a) AOS & getting the work permit / advance parole — OR — b) Consular Processing from Canada. Personally, it’s very difficult to make this decision as I have a whole life in the US - a beautiful rent stabilized apartment in NYC (which is super rare to come by 🤣), boyfriend & close friends and I keep myself very busy doing things that this busy city has to offer. I am currently torn between: a) Do I keep my life in the US and go with the AOS option that will take longer time for me to get my GC / hold me back from getting promoted ? / b) Do I choose the option of Consular Processing where I will have to move out of the US for 6-12 months or longer, and be away from my boyfriend/friends/office/life that I built in NY (although this could be temporary)
I know both options have pros and cons but with not knowing exact “waiting period” is making it so hard to make this decision. If the consular processing option is only going to take shorter period of time than AOS, then I feel like I could try to cope with that but thinking of anything longer than 6-12 months makes me just want to move forward with the AOS option…
I would appreciate anyone’s suggestions/recos & love to hear your thoughts on my situation
Thank you so much for taking your time to read my long story!
- does anybody know what the payroll situation will be if I move back to Canada w/ Consular processing? Will my employer take me off of US payroll & put me on Canada payroll? Or am I still allowed to get paid in USD? This is my other worry as I’d love to keep my apartment during my wait period if possible - although that could be huge waste of money 😅

2023.03.29 08:55 dmbjr02 V6 rav4 vs v6 tacoma for my needs
Im having trouble deciding between a earlier model v6 dual cab 6’ bed Tacoma, or a v6 limited rav4. Here is what’s going through my mind while I struggle to decide. Pros of the rav4: dual climate, prettier on the inside, cheaper, typically better kept and lower miles Cons of rav4: not going to be easy to sleep in for camping (still doable as I am 5’6 🙃).
Pros of the tacoma: bed makes it dead easy to set up for camping trips and just in general is nice to have a bed, a little better for off road applications. Cons of tacoma: no dual climate, not as pretty on the interior side.
Cons of both: they have part time 4wd which I worry will not be great on my wintery inconsistent minnesota roads. My ‘08 forester with awd doesn’t even let me notice I’m driving on slippery roads and I don’t want to lose that. I know the Tacoma has a 4d gear while the rav4 only has a button to engage 4wd that from what I hear shuts off and goes back to 2wd after you get up to speed.
So what do you guys think? My absolute max budget is $10k for either but it seems I can get either of these vehicles for under $6k. Thanks for reading. God bless.

2023.03.29 08:51 artoon_solutions Bootstrap vs React: Which One to Choose For Your Next Front-End App?
As an AI language model, I do not have a personal preference when it comes to choosing between Bootstrap and React for front-end applications. However, here are some points to consider when making a decision:
Bootstrap is a framework for designing websites and web applications, while React is a library for building user interfaces. Bootstrap provides pre-designed components and styles that can be easily customized, while React focuses on building reusable components that can be easily added to any project.
Bootstrap is a good choice for small to medium-sized projects that require a responsive design and do not have complex interactivity requirements. React, on the other hand, is a good choice for projects that require complex user interfaces with dynamic data and interactivity.
Bootstrap is easy to use and can be quickly implemented, especially if you have experience with HTML and CSS. React, however, requires more setup and configuration and may take more time to learn.
In conclusion, the choice between
Bootstrap vs Reactjs will depend on the specific project requirements and the developer's experience and skill set. It is important to carefully evaluate the pros and cons of each option before making a decision.

2023.03.29 08:31 4coffeeihadbreakfast Crypto retirement account options
So, to be clear, personally I believe the best way to own crypto is through self custody with a hardware wallet. However, in the case of a 401K or IRA where you have some funds that you can't touch without a tax penalty it is nice to have some crypto options. Also a perk is the ability to trade and invest in crypto with tax savings instead of hefty capital gain penalties.
Basically a 'Bitcoin' IRA is just a self-directed IRA (SDIRA) that lets you invest in crypto. Most of the providers I found support more than one type of crypto asset, not 'just' Bitcoin.
I believe the best choices are the ones that offer self-custody. As I understand it SDIRA accounts can be riskier and are sometimes not covered by insurance. Even if they are FDIC, it's a 250K max, however, if you control/own your keys, well you have your funds.
Here are some crypto IRA options I've found.
Bitcoin IRA
pros: 60 assets, low fees
cons: unclear pricing, 3K min?
Coin IRA
pros: easy rollover
cons: unclear pricing
BitIRA
pros: 12+ assets, easy rollovers, +stocks
cons: unclear pricing, 5k min?
Choice (by Kingdom Trust)
pros: easy rollover, ability to self-custody
cons: outdated scattered docs cause confusion, assets list?
Equity Trust
pros: flexible?
cons: 8 assets, unclear pricing
Alto
pros: 200+ assets, low fees, assets in coinbase custody
cons: data breach in 2021, no loss of funds
iTrust Capital
pros: 30 assets, low fees, easy rollover
cons: communication/customer support lacking
Unchained
pros: self-custody, technically knowledgable
cons: $1000 to get setup
$250 per year fee
Rocket Dollar
pros: flexible plans
cons: setup fees on pricey side?
Broad Financial
pros: self custody
cons: 1K+ setup fees?
I believe the three(?) above that offer self custody are Unchained, Broad Financial and Choice.
* I tried iTrust Capital but failed their KYC so they closed my account without explanation.
* I am thinking of trying Choice next because they have low fees, a diverse list of assets and the option to self custody for under 1K.
Does anyone have any first hand experience with any these or others?

2023.03.29 08:23 davidpcolney Private Equity Exit Strategy from Portfolio firms for Value Creation
| The last but most crucial step of the private equity investment process is the exit, which can significantly affect the final return on investment. Even after years of performing successfully, including taking the right approach to ownership, managing performance incentives, and being thoughtful, a poorly designed or executed exit has proved to be a good deal into a mediocre one. Furthermore, it becomes challenging regardless of theexisting private equity exit strategies that not my intention to do so, numerous exist. Buyers are more demanding and sophisticated. Technological advancement makes it difficult for buyers and sellers to reach a shared understanding of risks and a potential valuation source. The process makes an exit trickier, widening the spread between strong and weak. Usually, private equity investors have a life span of 5 to 7 years and plan to exit after that, making a substantial profit on their investment. So, there are various exit strategies that Private equity Industry can use to offload their investment. https://preview.redd.it/hffdgf12gmqa1.png?width=1124&format=png&auto=webp&s=73cd6dfcc4a9c037bca7a837f685b7003232fcb4 Significant Private Equity Exit Strategy There are a few approaches to equity release that private equity fund managers consider while planning to exit from the business. Trade Sale It means selling to a significant or listed company within a similar industry that wants to expand its operations to other geographic regions or add new products or services. This exit strategy attracts a premium because the buyer is listed, trading at higher earnings multiple and getting an automated increment through numerous arbitrages. Other options, some private purchasers may be ready to pay a premium for a business that offers a strategic portal to launch new growth initiatives. IPO The venture capitalist then offers his securities for public auction via public matter. Once the bonds of the invested company have been listed on stock exchanges, they are cited at an attractive price. An Initial Public Offering will yield profits if the markets are strong, and the administration cooperates. Investors can also choose to benefit from a longer-term shareholding in the company. Valuation is subject to market conditions. This is the main problem. An initial public offering involves significant transaction costs. The transaction requires careful planning. It can take a long time to implement and may result in market changes that could lead to the project being abandoned. Secondary Sale This often occurs when an acquirer is considering either achieving a long-term output on the dividends from the acquired company or expanding the existing company’s offerings in the global market. Private equity managers will add significant value when it is time to sell Portfolio Company by allowing organization executives to focus on increasing business. In contrast, private equity professional use their knowledge to pinpoint the right approach and time to obtain the best price for business selling. Repurchases by Promoters It is one of the successfully used exit strategies where the management or promoters of the company repurchase the equity stake from the private investor. It is an exciting exit option for both investors and management. https://preview.redd.it/4nof7xu5gmqa1.jpg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9d3e2f6c06e9b002bb8056c58a4260531282f49 Liquidation of Investee Company If the investee company is not profitable and causes losses, the venture capitalist and private equity options recover the investment by settlement with a businessperson. It is the last and most favorable option but used by the company’s promoters and can’t run a successful business. Dual–Track Process It is a process in which a PE investor can file for an IPO while also pursuing Strategic Acquisition. Despite the higher returns, the dual track is not a standard option for PE investors. It is expensive to do two separate procedures. Self-liquidating Process Private Equity and venture capitalists can finance debt by utilizing debt financing. The process is self-liquidating because the principal amount and interest are realized in monthly payments for a specific period. New Venture Capitalists – Sale Private Equity and venture capitalists can sell their equity in an enterprise to new venture capital companies interested in purchasing the ownership portion of the venture capital. This could be a sale to the venture capitalist to exit the company and realize the money. Conclusion When investing in any organization, the exit strategy is crucial. The company is focused and operates efficiently by organizing and recording exit terms. If all goes well, the private equity industry will arrive, alter, and leave happy. It is essential to consider the pros and cons of each exit route and the reasons and nature of the private equity investor to get the expected return on investment. The amazing is the exit, the higher the return on investment for venture capitalists and private equity investors. How do you deal with it?

2023.03.29 08:14 Formiing Computational Data Science vs Applied
Greetings, I'm scheduling classes for next semester and have been worried about the difficulty of some of the classes coming up. Currently, a Computational Data Science major but I was looking for information about the difference between Computational and Applied. What are the pros and cons? I am planning on going to grad school for SWE or try and break into that field in the future.

2023.03.29 08:14 Sensitive_Recover556 Dad just mentioned suicide
I've (18M) been on vacation for the past few days with my mom and dad, and things have been a little bit tense overall. My dad has always been a bit sensitive and very open about his mental health, especially in regards to struggling with dysthymia and depression. Tonight, when we were walking around on the beach after some serious tension in the family, he begin hinting at suicide. At first, it was in reference to the idea of nonbeing, then more explicitly about how he found the samurai code to be brave in its own right. (He taught english in Japan for 20 or so years)
Eventually, he caved and explicitly said that sometimes he contemplates suicide and doesn't want to live. My mom and I immediately went to support him, but he kept saying he was fine and just to enjoy the sunset. I have never seen him like this before, and after awhile he said that he didn't want to die in the moment, that be wasn't planning on killing himself "within the next year, at least", and so on. I have never, ever seen him like this, and this is the first and only time my dad has ever just completely broken down to such an extent.
He then, after some more frantic talk, said that he absolutely wouldn't, especially if I would feel responsivle. We went back to the hotel room where things were largely in silence for a long time, with him laying in bed. He went to take a very long shower, came out, and said firmly that he wouldn't kill himself. I repeatedly floated calling services immediately but he was adamant that it was something he needed to say, not that he intended to do.
My mom and I both told him we loved him, and he reciprocated. She seems to be in a state of shock.
He told us that sometimes he loves life too much, and that's what makes it so painful for him. He said that more than depressed, he feels cruelly attached to living. He seems very very distant, and has fallen asleep without many more words (aside from giving me the Hemingway quote (his favorite author) about how life breaks people, but they heal, while others resist it, and are killed by it. The end of the quote basically states that for those who aren't exceptional, life will take its time, though it does get to all of us.)
He has always felt responsible for so many things that aren't his fault, often times including my own struggles and those of his mother (who he sadly has a poor relationship with, due to her role in his upbringing). He's also tried SSRIs, which stopped working some years back, SNRIs, and even moderate psilocybin and MDMA doses. Nothing seems to work. He has been an amazing dad throughout the years, but feels terrible for the few mistakes he's made. I've tried on and on to convince him that my own mental health issues aren't his fault, but he's been adamant.
He's also been very insistent on "getting things sorted out" and "making things right". He can't seem to elaborate on what these things mean. He's seemed much worse mentally these past few months, which I suspect may also be related to the fact that his father (with whom he is very close) is likely slipping into dementia.
We are driving home tomorrow. I need help and advice on what the fuck to do. I'm going to college in the fall and am shit scared and feel like the floor has just been torn out from under me. Please help.

2023.03.29 08:12 angleofthedangle90 Worth Looking Around?
I am currently a team lead in Utah. I've been thinking of looking around for something new. My company has made some drastic changes in the last few months. Going in a direction I don't necessarily agree with. With the job market the way it is, should I look or wait until things are in a better spot? Pros: Love my team, great coworkers and direct leadership I feel I make a impact Potentially great equity when go public
Cons: Back in office full time (loved hybrid it was perfect for me) Took away some paid holidays Took away other perks ie conferences No merit raises for most, performance review didn't matter
I understand we are in weird times, just wondering if it's worth taking the effort to job search right now.
Thanks for all your input.
