Selling a car with hail damage do y’all know anyone who has done it?

2023.06.02 17:28 forbidden_notebook Selling a car with hail damage do y’all know anyone who has done it?

I have a 2008 Nissan Altima that I bought a few years ago and about two weeks after buying it that big hail storm in the NE happened. The driver’s side is pretty riddled with hail damage as is the top side of the car including the hood and rear lights. Aside from that the car runs very well and has been taken care of.
Would it be worth trying to sell this vehicle? If not what would be the best option to get the most money out of the car?

2023.06.02 16:49 BeastCoaster 1999 Nissan altima question.

So I inherited this car that sat on a farm for the last 5 years. It has 86,000 miles on it. Clean body, no rust, perfect glass. Any idea how much I could get for this? I got enough cars and believe this one still has much more life in it. Is $4000 a resonable price?

Any other formecurrent maxima owners here?
The maxima was just a fwd family sedan just like the accord, camry, and the altima, but for some odd reason i really like them. My first car was a 2004 maxima and it was quick, i personally liked the styling and it had a really nice interior and the VQ motor sounded great. This was before the CVTs too. I traded my 04 maxima for a 2008 mustang and low key miss the maxima and i might buy another in the future, saddens me to see the maxima going out of production next year. I know this sub hates nissans but the maxima along with the Z and the GTR are like the only likable cars they offer anymore.

2023.06.02 06:31 Due-Drummer7504 22 Camry XSE - Huge drop in mpg

Hey everyone.
I have a 22 Camry xse that I bought brand new in 01/2022. Currently has 17k miles and I’ve always done the 5,000 mile interval maintenance. This is my second Toyota after my very first car was an 05 Corolla.
Normally, I get 27-30 mpg in the cooler months. This is in eco mode. Now in summer with the ac on, I’m getting 21 mpg in eco mode. That’s a 20 to 30 percent drop.
My previous car was an Altima. Booo I know. But during the summer, it was maybe a 10 percent drop with the ac on. Is this normal for Toyotas, or should I look deeper into a potential problem?

Am I getting scammed? Any cheaper options to get my AC fixed?
My AC is only blowing hot air. At first I was told that I just need to fill it up with coolant and I could do it myself, that didn’t work out so I took it to a family friend who’s a mechanic and he told me that I would need a new compressor. I ended up going to an actual mechanic shop and this is what they quoted me.

2023.06.02 03:33 egoshamed Help I don't know cars I'd ride a bike everywhere if I could

2005 2.5 nissan altima had a distinct whine that kind of variated when shifting gears and a burning smell upon start up. I checked the oil, oil was low so I added some. Burning smell went away but whine persisted. I drove it a little ways.
While idling, the whine stopped very suddenly and a battery indicator came on. My check engine light also turned off at some point during this; its a funky car and I planned on getting the light checked but wasn't very rushed about it because my partner keeps using the wrong key to start it which triggers a code. My e brake light also turned on at some point; I engaged it and disengaged it again but it stayed on. There was no indication while driving that it was engaged, like resistance or a noise other than the whining sound.
I'm at a mechanic who will look at it in the morning but I was hoping someone could give me more context than Google; Google says alternator failing is a cause for the whine but I don't understand why it just went away? Dash lights aren't flickering and the 5 min drive to the mechanic felt fine. I hate this and I have like no money but I need this car, lol.

2023.06.02 01:33 SmilingMooseMedia Question about towing capacity

I have a 2010 Nissan Xterra. It weighs 4392lbs. The towing capacity is listed at 5000lbs. Does that mean any trailer I tow cannot weigh more than 608lbs? That seems wrong but I thought I read that towing capacity means total weight of the vehicle plus the trailer being towed. Sorry for the basic question. I’ve never towed before.

2023.06.01 23:52 damn57 Parking Brake Adjust

2006 Nissan Altima 2.5s
Rear drum parking brake inside the disc brake. Does reversing and pulling up on the parking brake actually adjust the drum shoes? I know it’s “best” to manually adjust the shoes, I will. But I was curious about this method. I always remember hearing it growing up.

2023.06.01 21:51 Franklin_8 2009 Nissan Altima how do I diagnose AC issue?

I have an '09 Altima, AC doesn't blow cold but when it's on AC, it seems to just pull the air from outside since in the morning it is a bit cooler than mid day but I'm not hearing any unusual sounds from AC compressor or blower motor. Could this just be a simple recharge needed? I'd like to make sure it's not anything else before I spend money on freon just to have it not work. Any advice on how to diag common issues would be appreciated, thank you!

Happy Thursday Throttle Jockeys! I have some nice hot rods for you this weeks seasonal challenges. Seasonal Tuning method 1. I always go for a stock look - wheels, rim sizes and aero are only changed if it is absolutely necessary for handling and stability. 2. Tunes are always tuned to max performance with max handling. 3. All cars tuned vs. Unbeatable AI on championship tracks in seasonal weather. Tunes are then baseline ran in Rivals. I again want to thank everyone for the downloads, follows, comments and likes! Remember feedback is important! I like hearing any and all comments on these tunes. There is no “bad” comments. You guys have been awesome with your support.

2023.06.01 21:44 Glittering_Scheme144 Festival Playlist Tunes June 1st - June 8th (Autumn S21)

FORZAthon Weekly “No Compromise” 2017 Ram Power Wagon (AWD) Share Code: 253-357-045 Use the Malpais trailblazer. It’s by far the easiest one.
Trial “Ooh Barranca” C600 Retro Rally 1992 Toyota Celica GT-Four (AWD) Full Aero Share Code: 165-971-941 Little disappointed in this weeks trial settings. Retro Rally could’ve been a great trail had they gone with B700 instead of C600 ratings. Throw in the selection of power tracks like Barranca and it takes the competitive car choices down to a very narrow selection. Any C600 tune with off-road tires will get gapped at the first two tracks. This Celica tune is quick and will get the job done for you.
The tracks for this weeks trail are: 1. Barranca Trail 2. El Pipila Scramble 3. Banjo Trail
Event Lab “By Land, Air, & Sea” A800 Off-road Capable 1993 Toyota T100 Baja (AWD) Share Code: 145-154-052 Fun truck to drive around in and is definitely Off Road capable!
Danger Sign “Salto De Rio” S2 Anything Goes Target: 590.6 FT Jesko (AWD) Share Code: 183-064-856
Speed Trap “Dust Bowl” S2 Anything Goes Target: 160 MPH Jesko (AWD) Share Code: 183-064-856 Start to the south and cut across the desert to hit the trap. You should be between 180-200 MPH.
Seasonal Championship “Rally Good Time” A800 Rally Monsters 1985 Porsche #185 959 (AWD) Share Code: 464-375-484 A800 Rally Monsters is a pretty dull class. There is no “monster” in most of these underpowered cars. I went through every single one of them and I found your monster. This Porsche has a bad attitude. Maybe it’s because someone put those ugly utility trailer lights on its roof? Lucky for you this thing is ready to kill all of the drivatars in true horror movie monster fashion. The tracks for this Seasonal Championship are: 1. Tapalpa Trail 2. La Selva Scramble 3. Cascada Trail
Seasonal Championship “Ready For Lift Off” A800 Unlimited Offroad 2004 #23 Nissan Rally Raid (AWD) Share Code: 123-726-527 Great tune for Cross Country Circuits. Lots of power and good handling will send the drivatars to the back of the pack. The tracks for this Seasonal Championship are: 1. Airfield Cross Country Circuit 2. Costera Cross Country Circuit 3. Ribera Rocosa Cross Country
RALLY ADVENTURES
Speed Zone “Tierras Verdes” S2 Anything Goes Target: 72 MPH 2014 BAC Mono (AWD) Share Code: 253-907-830 Oh boy! This one is very tricky! Start from the north. You can actually get away with being quite a bit of the trail for this one. Once you hit the start gate veer to the left off the road. Cut a straight path through the field. Line yourself up for the right hander. On exit of the last left you will be off the trail again just cut a straight path to the finish gate. My best speed was a 77 MPH pass. Good luck!
Seasonal Championship “Time Warp” B700 Retro Saloons 1991 BMW M3 (RWD) Full Aero Share Code: 861-066-499 Light and nimble. Just what you need for these tight and twisty expansion tracks. I think this tune is the “Ultimate Driving Experience”. The tracks for this Seasonal Championship are: 1. Devils Pass 2. Canyon Trail 3. Arzate Sprint

2023.06.01 21:04 james_casy Efficient pickup for car camping under $20k

Hello, I’m looking for a used pickup truck and would like some advice narrowing down my options. My budget is $10-20k but I’d prefer to keep it closer to $15k and save some money for a camper conversion setup. This car would probably just be me and my gf 90% of the time but it would be nice to have passenger seats for the 10%. I don’t mind buying a car with 100-180k miles as long as it still has a another 100k or so in it.
My priority features are:
•Fuel efficiency
•At least 6’ bed length (planning to sleep in with a camper shell)
•Reliability and low cost to repair
•Off road capability. Don’t need anything too crazy but I’d like to be comfortable on remote dirt roads and occasional snow trips. Friends are telling me to definitely get 4x4 but I’m not totally convinced.
Things I don’t care about:
•Tech features. Just want something that drives and I can replace an old radio myself if it doesn’t have BT.
•Aesthetics. Not trying to impress anyone with a sick rig and I know I will be scratching and dinging the hell out of it myself.
•Heavy duty towing. I will occasionally tow a small trailer (<2k lbs) but all of the trucks I’m looking at should do this no problem.
Right now I’m looking at:
•Toyota Tacoma: most reliable and legendary but used ones seem overpriced and I’ve heard they’re not very comfortable.
•Ford F-150: Specifically looking at post 2015 ecoboost V6s as they have good mpg and still a lot of hp.
•Ford ranger: Since I don’t think I necessarily need the full size 150 and they seem to be reliable and powerful.
•Nissan Frontier: the cheapest option but potentially the least reliable? I’d be happy to save the $$$ as long as I don’t end up having to pay it later in repairs. Also less availability around me.
Would appreciate any input and advice on these trucks, what years or mileages to avoid, and any other options you think I should seriously consider. Thanks!

2023.06.01 20:47 AnimatedASMR Salvage Title 80's Vans for Conversion, Should I Bother?

I'm looking to convert a van for life on the road with my limited budget (less than 10g). A mobile art studio for my career. However, anything that isn't the big four vans for conversion (Mercedes Sprint, Ford Transit, Nissan NV, Ram ProMaster) look really boring. I really enjoy the angular look that the 80's and early 90's had for vans. They are very unique compared to today's makes and models. If this van is going to be my home, I want something fun, exciting or unique.
I've been finding old salvage bids at auctions for dirt cheap. 80's misfit toys no one wants like an 87 Toyota Van Wagon. Real sleek but it looks gutted already, which I was already planning on doing since I was going to insulate and soundproof the interior. But I'm not too experienced when it comes to automotive repairs. And I can't tell if I'm finding potential diamonds in the rough or catastrophic money pits.
I wanted to pick the brains of enthusiasts before dumping my budget into something like this. I want to (eventually over time) keep the look but put modern 2010-20's parts into it.
Is this a sensible thing to do or would I be better off going affordable but boring? Any advice or pointers?
Thanks ahead of time.
