2023.06.02 17:05 Brilliant-Toe8193 Desperate for insight…
| I’ve seen a couple of doctors, an allergist and a few dermatologists. I’ve felt shrugged off after the last appointment so I turn to Reddit. These spots are very itchy and the only thing that I’ve found as brief relief is the sun and hot showers. (I don’t always shower with hot water but that’s what I’ve noticed has helped with relief) I’ve had this worsen over the last few years (it’s been about 5 total). It started on my upper back in a small patch and has expanded slowly to cover my back, my chest, arms and legs. Now my hands and feet.. Blood tests are normal, allergy tests normal. I’m taking Reactine to help with the itching. I don’t know what to do… submitted by Brilliant-Toe8193 to skin [link] [comments] |
2023.06.02 16:26 brattybrat Antihistamines can help some long haulers *without allergy symptoms*
I've run across a number of folks now who haven't tried antihistamines because they thought they were only for people who had allergy symptoms (itchiness, hives, etc.). Nope! This is my friendly reminder that many of us who benefit from antihistamines *do not have any classic allergy symptoms*. I have zero itching or hayfever-like symptoms.
Here are the symptoms that antihistamines treated for me:
- headaches!!!!
- adrenaline dumps
- extreme muscle tightness ("anxiety," but not really anxiety because zero cognitive element)
- urinary tract pain
- racing heart
- shortness of breath
The antihistamines made a HUGE difference in my level of functioning. If you haven't tried them because you thought they only help people with itching or other classic allergy symptoms, please consider asking your doctor. In my case it took about a week of daily Claritin (10mg) + Pepcid (20mg) to notice that I felt better. They don't help everyone with long Covid, but they do help a subset of us.
There's only been
one formal study on antihistamines and long Covid, but there is a lot of
anecdotal data at this point. It's likely related to
Mast Cell Activation Syndrome.

2023.06.02 16:21 Virtual_Stretch_3002 Whenever I get down to 160 I always gain weight and end up at 165. Can someone help?
WARNING: this will be a long post. However, I want to give as much information as possible.
(I don’t use Reddit. I made an account specifically ask this question.)
I’m 27, female, 5”1 and 165 pounds.
I had previously lost a ton of weight, I was probably over 230 pounds. I got down to 160, and then gained maybe 30 pounds after Covid. January of this year I had gotten down to 173 and now I’m in the 160s and struggling to lose more.
I was 162 weeks three days ago, yesterday I was 164 and now I’m 165. I know for a fact I didn’t over eat. I would just chalk it up to water weight but the issue is * every time* I get down to 162 I always end up gaining 3 pounds and I get back up to 165. This has been happening for months. I cannot get below 160.
I don’t know why this happens but it’s seriously discouraging me. So, I was hoping someone could shed some light as to what I’m doing wrong?
Information about my fitness lifestyle below:
My first goal is to be 150 pounds, and lose 5 inches off my waist (It’s 32” right now). After that, I want to see how I look and feel, and then decide what to do from there.
I’ve been working out consistently for 10 weeks, six days a week, one day off. I’ve been following massy arias elevation 1 workout plan. We did alternating strength training, then stretches. On the days when I did my stretches I also did a 12 minute dance cardio workout.
And now, instead of alternating days, I’m doing her second program, which is basically strength training for two days, and then stretches, and then it repeats itself. However, I think I’m dealing with burnt out so I’ve been taking this week off and I’ve just been doing my stretches and cardio.
If you need more details my workout routine looks this: I do a 14 minute warm-up
then I get into my work out (around 20-30 minutes)
If it’s a stretching day I’ll do 12 minute dance cardio workout after.
then I usually walk a mile (because I have to walk my dog) but lately it’s been like 3 miles (3 dogs)
I’ve been hitting around 10k steps.
I practice intermittent fasting until around 1pm (which is lunch anyways)
I take vitamins every morning, along with collagen powder and Green super food powder.
I weigh and track all my calories. The only time when I don’t is when I haven’t eaten a lot and I know I have wiggle room. But 90% of the time I track my calories.
As far as what I eat? That parts a little bit more complicated. I have a lot of allergies and intolerances. I can’t eat any dairy, most meats (so I stay away from all of them), eggs, soy, beans, or corn.
I eat a lot of rice and fish, but I’m struggling financially at the moment so I usually end up eating one meal a day ( times are just tough) and to be honest, I try my best to make sure it’s some thing that has proteins, greens, or whatever but usually I just try to find something I can grab that I’m not allergic too. I try to make sure that it’s as healthy as healthy can get.
I do cook, but because I have to make literally everything I eat from scratch. (Like, if I wanted a doughnut, I would have to make that from scratch.) I suffer from burn out all the time.
I make every single thing that goes into my mouth and like clockwork I have three months of when I don’t cook anything. I don’t know how many months I have of cooking before I just can’t do it anymore, I’ve never counted. But maybe four or five? This isn’t convenient, but this is something I don’t know how to change and I don’t have help.
Whenever I type these questions into Reddit, everyone always says, “eat more”. I don’t want to be told I need to eat more because I tried that. I’ve also suffered from binge eating my whole life, and I’m trying desperately to get that under control, I’ve been doing pretty decent but I just don’t feel like eating more is going to help me in that regard. I’m not the kind of person that can go over my calorie count and be OK. I promise you if I start to go over my recommended calorie count for the day (or even maintenance) I will gain weight.
I’m on a bit of a timeline and I can’t really afford to do that right now. Also, I think that would discourage me even more and I don’t wanna quit.
According to the TDEE calculator, my maintenance is 1,899
My calorie count for the day is 1,320.
I don’t know what to do, and I have no one to talk to. This has been happening for months and I don’t know how to fix it. I really hope someone can help me.
( if it matters I also have no insurance right now so going to a doctonutritionist is not an option. I’m not even sure if that would help yeah)

2023.06.02 16:13 Ok-Safety-8972 Stomach bug, allergies or Famotidine issue?
I’ve had a weird history with GERD. It started last November after I had some sort of flu or covid or something. Never tested positive but it definitely felt like when I had covid. I’ve never had acid issues before. Not even when I was pregnant. Anyway, I’ve been to multiple GI doctors and they said GERD. They put me on PPIs but my body did not like those AT all. Then they put me on famotidine. My body didn’t seem to like that either. I eat really healthily. Always have and I’ve been on an especially strict diet since November to try and curb the acid without medicine since my body didn’t seem to agree with it. Well, anyway, I decided to give the Famotidine another shot because no matter what I was still getting acid and I’m afraid of getting ulcers or any other sort of esophagus issue. I’ve been taking it for almost 3 weeks. It worked great at first but now it seems like it’s making things worse or just not touching the issue. Now, the allergy index in my town has been insanely high this last few days and there was a wild fire causing the air to be thick and dense. I’m not sure if this effects it at all. I’m new to all of this. There’s also a gnarly stomach bug going around the VERY small company I work for. (There’s only 5 of us and we work in a small space and 3 of them had it) does the stomach bug cause even more acid reflux issues that even medicine can’t touch? Or is it the Famotidine just not working and causing some sort of other issue? Could it be the air? This is all just so frustrating. I have an endoscopy scheduled for the 20th and I’m hoping that it finds some answers but not sure it’ll even give a solution since it seems like most people don’t get one.

2023.06.02 15:26 Tolkeinn1 Did my (35m) ex partner (28F) have Munchausens? What does MS look like?
Hello!
This is a strange one but I'd love a bit of insight into someone who was my girlfriend for 2 years.
She claimed to have relapsing remitting MS, Fibromialgia, numerous allergies, and also be a cancer survivor. Wow, what a fucking horrific combination of diseases. If it were true that is.
Naturally I believed all of these things at first. Who wouldn't when you are dating a new partner. But my suspicion grew rather quickly. First off, I had a friend pass away of MS. His was very serious and advanced, and he spent his entire life trying to deal with it, and every single week he was in contact with his doctor about his affliction. Constant conversations, medication changes, work on himself until he eventually passed away from Covid.
My partner, in contrast, never once went to a doctor in the entire time we were dating. When i asked her about this, she said that it was relapsing-remitting MS, which doesn't require constant care. When she would have a 'flare up' (her words) it would usually consist of her complaining about pain in her hands and fatigue, and that was the most of it. She never went to the hospital, never went to a GP, etc. She didn't even have a GP she could name.
Additionally, she said she had Fibromialgia. The way she explained it was essentially this: it is a hard to diagnose disease that consists of a variety of symptoms and a variety of misdiagnoses. Again, she never saw a doctor about it as long as we knew each other, it would mostly involve her complaining about various pains, despite my concern and advice to go to the hospital. I would try to take her to a hospital or get her to a doctor and she always refused on some stoic prohibition that she had internalized.
Lastly, she claimed to have many allergies, but none of them manifesting in any ways i've heard of or seen before. For example, she said she was allergic to nuts. One time, I accidentally ordered her a cocktail containing almonds, as the menu said orgeat and i only belatedly remembered that this meant almonds. She drank it for 20 minutes, uncomplaining, until I looked up the menu and realized that there were almonds in it. When i told her, she immediately had a reaction, claiming her tongue was itchy and she was having trouble breathing. The whole thing just struck me as completely disingenuous. Again, I've known people with allergies and they were not so nonchalant about it.
So, Doctors, am I being paranoid? Am I so cynical that I can't recognize a sick person? Is there any possibility that she was telling the truth, that she was being stoic and fearful of american health insurance practices (she always had insurance). Could anyone be so casual with something as deadly as MS?

2023.06.02 14:53 Tolkeinn1 I think my(35m) ex partner (28F) had Munchausens...
While i was getting to know her, i was of naturally shocked and horrified to hear about her illnesses. but the more i got to know her the less her stories added up.
Firstly, I had a friend pass away of MS, and every single week he was in contact with his doctor about his affliction.
As to the Fibro, she told me that it is almost impossible to diagnose. Again, she never saw a doctor about it as long as we knew each other, it would mostly involve her complaining about various pains and doing nothing about it, despite my concern and advice to go to the hospital.
She claimed to have many allergies, but none of them manifesting in any ways i've heard of or seen before. For example, she said she was allergic to nuts (seafood as well), and I accidentally ordered her a cocktail containing almonds once. She drank it for 20 minutes, never said anything until I looked up the menu and realized that there were almonds in it. I told her, she immediately had a reaction, claiming her tongue was itchy and she was having trouble breathing. The whole thing just struck me as completely disingenuous. One time we were at dinner and she said she was incredibly itchy and it must have been from cross contamination. My experience with allergies is that they simply don't look or sound like hers did.
So, Doctors, am I being paranoid? Am I so cynical that I can't recognize a sick person? Is there any possibility that she was telling the truth, that she was being stoic and fearful of american health insurance practices (she always had insurance).

2023.06.02 14:46 Interesting_Aioli_75 Clinic’s lab error may have caused me to miscarry
I am freaking out right now. At 6 weeks, my HCG measured at 2354 - low but normal. Then at 7 weeks they measured me at about 300 and declared it a non viable pregnancy.
A couple days later I continued to take pregnancy tests and they were getting darker day by day. I called my clinic to tell them and share my concerns, and they said that it was a non-viable pregnancy and not to read into the pregnancy tests.
I ended up contacting my family doctor after that and getting a blood test through another lab, and I just got the results back from yesterday (what would be 7w6 days) and it was 11,600. Of course I contacted my clinic and they had me come in now to do their own beta, and now I am waiting on their results.
I am livid and freaking out. I stopped taking progesterone and aspirin completely, I had drinks, I had hot baths, I had Advil, I had allergy pills… I am terrified that my numbers last week would have been fine, but now are way too low for 8 weeks pregnant. I am terrified that they made me kill my baby for no reason.
I don’t know what to do.

2023.06.02 14:37 Rolegur22 I'm trying to register with data validation but I keep getting too many values to unpack (expected 2) error

2023.06.02 14:31 NationalFilm8849 Health Anxiety
Hi everyone, so my health anxiety is back. the past 2 weeks I’ve had really bad allergies, and constantly feeling congested. I’m also having these brief moments of dizziness, which makes my anxiety worse. I’m supposed to ovulate tomorrow (as per my app), I’m panicking about what could possibly be wrong with me. I’m just not sure if this is the congestion causing the dizziness? Or my anxiety because of my PMDD?… it usually happens in the am when I go back to bed after taking my anxiety medication (Effexor 75 mg) and I go to lay down certain positions are what cause it and it last like 10 seconds. I’ve mentioned it to the doctor he said I’m so congested it’s hard to say if it’s anxiety or allergies.
I have my full blood done less then a month ago, everything was fine other then b12 was deficient but I’m taking something for that already. Blood pressure is always around 115/75. If anyone has any experience or advice?

2023.06.02 14:05 Famous-Chemistry-530 My experience with a "noctor"
This post is, as the title states, about my (horrible!) experience with a Noctor.
To give some backstory as concisely as I can, I began seeing an NP at an urgent care center as my PCP (PCP care was smth they offered, they just operated mostly as an urgent care center) bc I work from 7am to 8pm and NO other doctors/practitioners in my small southern town operated beyond those hours.
This woman was nice and wonderful personality-wise, but SUCKED as a "doctor".
She misdiagnosed a raging athletes foot "infection" as eczema for THREE YEARS (only when I recently changed PCPs was I told what it actually was, and since beginning treatment my symptoms-- awful itching/flaking/& DEEP skin fissures that were/are SO. PAINFUL!! has improved like 120%).
She also was treating me for increasingly higher BPs, and put me on a med that caused SO MANY ~terrible~ side effects that I ended up in the ER 2x, and went to her clinic 5x or more begging for help/med change bc I felt like I was literally dying-- only to be told that whomever was the acting "Noctor" that day would be "stepping on "my noctor's" toes" to give me a new Rx or treat my symptoms (the, you know, feeling like I was actually dying) at all, and that I needed to wait the 3-6 weeks until she had an opening to see me, even after I had to go to the ER 2x and have 2 EKGs and an MRI to try and figure out what tf was going on with me.
This "Noctor" also told me that the Suboxone (I've been on a maintenance dose since 2014 bc I had a 4yr period of active addiction to opiates during college) and my Adderall (rx'd to me since I was 18 for my raging ADHD and autism) were what was causing my BP issues and the feeling like I was going to die, as well as the excessive sweating I was having; and that the "extra saliva" that I was experiencing was bc of seasonal allergies + those meds ; , and so advised me to stop both meds immediately. She had already told me prior to that appointment that both meds contributed to my BP issues so I had started taking less than half doses of each, but my symptoms just continued to worsen; so she said I should stop them entirely. You can imagine how abruptly stopping two controlled substances that I had been on for 15yrs worked out.
Luckily, I recently found a great PCP who is an actual MD, at a great and very thorough clinic. She told me that while I do have moderately high BP that I need a med for, most of my issues were caused by the significant decreasing of the Suboxone and Adderall initially, and then hugely worsened by discontinuing them altogether. Basically, she said, I had thrown myself into a significant "double withdrawal", which was causing my BP to skyrocket, along with all the other symptoms. She was very firm that I begin taking my meds as rx'd immediately, and put me on a new BP med.
I feel like a new person now lol I did not know what it was that I was experiencing, but going thru that absolutely TERRIBLE ~DOUBLE~ withdrawal bc of the orders of an NP masquerading as an MD was THE WORST I've ever felt physically, and apparently (according to the new PCP) could have caused me significant ongoing damage.
I just wanted to share my experience as a cautionary tale

2023.06.02 13:04 sarahcorbe every few months i wake up with no hearing in my left ear
17, female, around 105lbs, only meds are lanzoprozole and birth control. no health issues.
it happened the first time in october, then again in april and now again today. i wake up and it's like the hearing in my left ear has been completely blocked off. it lasts until just before i go to sleep (or it did for october and april, it's still morning rn so idk). nothing can seem to fix it, i've tried warm oil, steam, plugging my nose and blowing, swallowing and yawning, it just can't go away until it does it itself. and it's only ever the left ear.
i tried googling it and it wasn't very helpful haha
is this something i should talk to my doctor about? or is it probably just a virus or allergies?

2023.06.02 12:58 singhal-001 How Long Does It Take To Cure Allergy in Homeopathy?
The time taken to cure allergies with Homeopathy can vary from person to person. In some cases, Homeopathic treatment may lead to a significant improvement in allergy symptoms within a short period, while in other cases, it may take longer for noticeable changes to occur. Chronic or long-standing allergies may require more extended treatment and a gradual reduction in symptoms.
Allergy Treatment in Homeopathy effectively treats not just the symptoms but the entire person at three levels: skin, respiratory, and gastrointestinal systems. Dr. Vikas Singhal is the best doctor to identify what is causing the reaction if they believe they have an allergy. After diagnosis, he will prescribe medicines for the best allergy treatment in Homeopathy. Book your appointment, call +91 7087462000, or WhatsApp us at +91 9041111747.

2023.06.02 12:16 sfaer A selected collection of Dr. Jacques Vallée's conclusions from 1969 to 1988. Emphasis mine.
1969 - Passport to Magonia: from Folklore to Flying Saucers
What does it all mean? Is it reasonable to draw a parallel between religious apparitions, the fairy-faith, the reports of dwarf-like beings with supernatural powers, the airship tales in the United States in the last century, and the present stories of UFO landings?
I would strongly argue that it is—for one simple reason: the mechanisms that have generated these various beliefs are identical. Their human context and their effect on humans are constant. And it is my conclusion that the observation of this very deep mechanism is a crucial one. It has little to do with the problem of knowing whether UFO's are physical objects or not. Attempting to understand the meaning, the purpose of the so-called flying saucers, as many people are doing today, is just as futile as was the pursuit of the fairies, if one makes the mistake of confusing appearance and reality. The phenomenon has stable, invariant features, some of which we have tried to identify and label clearly. But we have also had to note carefully the chameleon-like character of the secondary attributes of the sightings: the shapes of the objects, the appearances of their occupants, their reported statements, vary as a function of the cultural environment into which they arc projected.
Human actions are based on imagination, belief, and faith, not on objective observation—as military and political experts know well. Even science, which claims its methods and theories are rationally developed, is really shaped by emotion and fancy, or by fear. And to control human imagination is to shape mankind's collective destiny, provided the source of this control is not identifiable by the public. And indeed it is one of the objectives of any government's policies to prepare the public for unavoidable changes or to stimulate its activity in some desirable direction.
For the time being the only positive statement we can make, without fear of contradiction, is that: it is possible to make large sections of any population believe in the existence of supernatural races, in the possibility of flying machines, in the plurality of inhabited worlds, by exposing them to a few carefully engineered scenes the details of which are adapted to the culture and superstitions of a particular time and place.
Could the meetings with UFO entities be such artificial constructions? Consider their changing character. In the United States, they appear as science fiction monsters. In South America, they are sanguinary and quick to get into a fight. In France, they behave like rational, Cartesian, peace-loving tourists. The Irish Gentry, if we believe its spokesmen, was an "aristocratic race" organized somewhat like a religious-military order. The airship pilots were strongly individualistic characters with all the features of the American farmer.
1977 - Cosmic Trigger 1 (by Robert Anton Wilson)
He started to explain that, analyzing the reports chronologically, it appeared that They (whoever or whatever they are) always strive to give the impression that they are something the society they are visiting can understand. In medieval sightings, he said, they called themselves angels; in the great 1902 flap in several states, one of the craft spoke to a West Virginia farmer and said they were an airship invented and flown from Kansas; in 1940s-1950s sightings, they often said they were from Venus; since Venus has been examined and seems incapable of supporting life, they now say they are from another star-system in this galaxy.
“Where do you think they come from?” I asked.
Doctor Vallee gave the Gallic form of the classic scientific Not-Speculating-Beyond-The-Data head-shake.
“I can theorize, and theorize, endlessly,” he said, “but is it not better to just study the data more deeply and look for clues?”
“You must have some personal hunch,” I insisted.
He gave in gracefully.
“They relate to space-time in ways for which we have, at present, no concepts,” he said. “They cannot explain to us because we are not ready to understand.”
1979 - Messengers of Deception: UFO Contacts and Cults
Control-System Hypothesis I believe there is a system around us that transcends time as it transcends space. I remain confident that human knowledge is capable of understanding this larger reality. I suspect that some humans have already understood it, and are showing their hand in several aspects of the UFO encounters.
The system I am speaking of may well be able to locate itself in outer space, as some of my readers will be quick in pointing out. Indeed it may, but its manifestations are not spacecraft in the ordinary “nuts and bolts” sense. The UFOs are physical manifestations that cannot be understood apart from their psychic and symbolic reality. What we see in effect here is not an alien invasion. It is a control system which acts on humans and uses humans. However, we still need to discover the source of this manifestation.
If the world around us is a world of informational events, the symbolic manifestations that surround UFO reports should be viewed as a fact of the greatest magnitude. If we consider the physical world to be an associative universe of such informational events, consciousness is no longer simply a function which is local to the human brain. Instead, consciousness should be defined as the process by which informational associations are retrieved and traversed. The illusion of time and space would be merely a side effect of consciousness as it traverses associations. In such a theory, apparently “paranormal’' phenomena like remote viewing and precognition would be expected, even common, and UFOs would lose much of their alien quality. These phenomena would be natural aspects of the reality of human consciousness, and would be subject to manipulation by the human will, both consciously and unconsciously.
In any case, these phenomena serve as a support for human ambition, a framework for human tragedy, a fabric of human dreams. We react to them in our movies, our poetry, our music, our science fiction. And they react to us. They are part of the control system for human evolution, like the nuclear process inside the Sun and the long-term changes in the Earth’s weather. But their effects, instead of being just physical, are also felt in our belief systems. They influence what we call our spiritual life. They affect our political institutions, our history, our culture.
If there is no time dimension as we usually assume there is, we may be traversing events by association. Modern computers retrieve information associatively. You “evoke” the desired records by using keywords, words of power: you request the intersection of “microwave” and “headache,” and you find twenty articles you never suspected existed. Perhaps I had unconsciously posted such a request on some psychic bulletin board with the keyword “Melchizedek.” If we live in the associative universe of the software scientist rather than the sequential universe of the spacetime physicist, then miracles are no longer irrational events. The philosophy we could derive would be closer to Islamic “Occasionalism” than to the Cartesian or Newtonian universe. And a new theory of information would have to be built. Such a theory might have interesting things to say about communication with the denizens of other physical realities.
Consider science from the outside: it is a machine for turning out knowledge. It has worked extremely well for a while. It has given us aircraft, television, and trips to the Moon. On the other hand, there are situations in which it is useless, because it assumes that the phenomena that are fed into it are natural and spontaneous. If something bigger or smarter than the ordinary human mind is around, if some clever deceivers use it to feed us phenomena that have been designed to fool us by Machiavellian spies or benevolent masters, then a “scientific” investigation will be useless. How can we find out whether or not anomalous phenomena can be dealt with in scientific terms?
The public has two usual positions on UFOs, either “It’s all nonsense,” or “We are visited by creatures from another planet.” Until today, the first position has been the stronger one. A majority of the public and practically every scientist has long thought that UFOs were nonsense – and that is why there are no UFO detectives. Now things are changing. So many people have seen strange phenomena that a new belief has been born. Scientific opinion cannot stop this shifting of power. Unfortunately, once disturbed from its comfortable position of rest, the public will shift to the other extreme and start believing in space visitations. This is unavoidable. It is so reassuring to have other forms of life come here! They may be horrible to behold, but at least “they” know about us, “they” care about us, and “they” have gone to the trouble of coming here to see what we look like! In the naive words of a New York Times science editor, “We are not Alone!”
There is another system. It is sending us messengers of deception. They are not necessarily coming from nearby stars. In terms of the effect on us, it doesn’t matter where they come from. I even suspect that “where” and “when” have no meaning here. How could we be alone? The black box of science has stopped ticking. People look up toward the stars in eager expectation.
Receiving a visit from outer space sounds almost as comfortable as having a God. Yet we shouldn’t rejoice too soon. Perhaps we will get the visitors we deserve.
1988 - Dimensions: A Casebook of Alien Contact
If they are not spacecraft, what else could UFOs be? What research framework can account for the physical effects, for the impact on society, for the appearance of the occupants, and for the seemingly absurd, dreamlike elements of their behavior? How can we explain that the phenomenon makes itself obvious to rural populations but avoids overt contact, choosing instead to deliver its message in bizarre abductions, in highly strange incidents? The theory that suggests itself, as we analyze and reanalyze the forces at play, goes beyond the notion that these are simply technological vehicles produced by advanced races on another planet.
Instead I believe that the UFO phenomenon represents evidence for other dimensions beyond spacetime; the UFOs may not come from ordinary space, but from a multiverse which is all around us, and of which we have stubbornly refused to consider the disturbing reality in spite of the evidence available to us for centuries. Such a theory is required in order to explain both the modern cases and the chronicles of Magonia – the abductions and the psychic component I believe there is a system around us that transcends time as it transcends space. Other researchers have reached the same conclusion. Some have come away deeply discouraged by the realization best summed up early in this century by Charles Fort, the author of The Book of the Damned: "We are property." Scholars of this phenomenon, [..] feel that we may be powerless before the complex and absurd capabilities of an alien intelligence that can masquerade as a Martian invader, as a primitive god, as the Blessed Virgin, as a fleet of airships.
The system I am speaking of, a system with mastery of space and time dimensions, may well be able to locate itself in outer space. Nonetheless, its manifestations cannot be spacecraft in the ordinary nuts-and-bolts sense. The UFOs are physical manifestations that simply cannot be understood apart from their psychic and symbolic reality. What we see here is not an alien invasion.
It is a spiritual system that acts on humans and uses humans.
The synchronicity and coincidences that abound in our lives suggest that the world may be organized like a randomized data base (the multiverse) rather than a sequential library (the four-dimensional universe of conventional physics).
Should we believe the witnesses who describe their experiences aboard UFOs? As I have pointed out throughout this book, there is no reason to doubt their personal integrity, their sincerity, and their honesty. The words of Dr. Simon about Betty and Barney Hill are still clear after twenty years: "The experience, undoubtedly, was real to them."
Does this mean we should take their recollections literally? I do not think so. These events took place in a reality we simply do not understand yet; they had an impact on a part of the human mind we have not discovered. I believe that the UFO phenomenon is one of the ways through which an alien form of intelligence of incredible complexity is communicating with us symbolically. There is no indication that it is extraterrestrial. Instead, there is mounting evidence that it has access to psychic processes we have not yet mastered or even researched. In the face of such interaction at the symbolic or mythical level, all the hypnosis sessions and the searches for implants may well be as futile as the questions of the inquisitors to the witches returning from the sabbath and the frantic search for the devil's mark on their bodies.
For many years, UFO phenomena have served as a support for human imagination, a framework for human tragedy, a fabric of human dreams. We react to them in our movies, our poetry, our music, our science fiction. And they react to us. They are not trying to communicate with a few individuals, with any group, with any government. Why should they? The phenomena function like an operational system of symbolic communication at a global level. There is something about the human race with which they interact, and we do not yet know what it is. They are part of the environment, part of the control system for human evolution. But their effects, instead of being just physical, are also felt in our beliefs. They influence what we call our spiritual life. They affect our politics, our history, our culture. They are a feature of our past. Undoubtedly, they are part of our future.

2023.06.02 11:04 awesomedays1998 SUCCESS STORY!!!!! I CURED MY DAIRY ALLERGY!
Disclaimer: For those who don't know already, a dairy allergy and lactose intolerance ARE NOT THE SAME THING. A milk allergy triggers the immune system, a lactose intolerance can just cause issues with digestion. A milk allergy can kill you. A lactose/milk intolerance will not. Uncomfortable symptoms yes, but never fatal. If you are ever handling food and the person you are preparing it for tells you they have a dairy/milk allergy, you better not let their food touch or contain dairy. It's no different from them telling you they allergic to fish or peanuts, a milk allergy is still an allergy that can kill people just like peanuts can. Had to share to avoid confusion and maybe even save a life!
How I feel: I feel relieved, like I was on a long tiring trip and I finally made it home and now I can relax. I also feel, DUH. Of course this happened. Like I didn't manifest it. It was gonna happen anyway. I believe this is evidence of my belief that I could eat dairy again. Like duh, of course it happened.
Now that's out of the way, here's my story!
I am 24F and was diagnosed with a milk allergy August 2022. I had some stomach issues and my GI doctor gave me a food allergy blood test (IgE). It tested me for many food allergens, including the top 9 allergens and more. The results came back, and my number was high for milk allergy. My doctor told me I tested positive for cow's milk and to immediately stop dairy.
At first, I was happy because that means I will feel better because I'll stop eating the food I was allergic to. I quickly changed my mind tho, being allergic to milk is TOUGH. It's in and touches everything. But the first few months weren't so bad because I didn't know restaurants cross contaminated. But then, about 4 months in I was miserable. I couldn't eat at most restaurants. Traveling was super difficult. My whole world was in shambles because I felt so limited and helpless. I then asked my GI doc if she could send me another blood test to see if the first was a false positive, so she did, a full milk allergy panel. I took it, and it came back high again, "Positive", she said. I asked a bunch of questions, which of course they didn't answer, and told me to see an allergy specialist if I want an epipen. So I had my main doc refer me to an allergy specialist. I booked the appointment but it was a 4 month wait out.
I figured, since I have to wait this far out, I have plenty of time to skew the outcome of the appointment to my favor. To make it to where the allergy specialist tells me I am not allergic to dairy.
I got to work. At night, upon sleep, I affirmed " I am free of all food allergies", "I can eat all the foods I want and I can drink all of the drinks I want", and " I can safely consume dairy" over and over until the wave of relief, then I dozed off into sleep. I did these upon waking as well, when I wake up mid sleep to use the bathroom I affirmed as I was awake before falling back asleep, and I affirmed these waking up for the day the first 15 minutes I was awake.
I also had the help of my best friend, who consistently did healing spells for me. I had faith in him because he healed his sister's gluten allergy.
Every time I cried over the allergy in front of him he would say "Don't worry, you are healed" and "Look, don't worry about it, you don't even have an allergy!" with a playful and reassuring "It's all okay" smile on his face. Okay Abdullah lmao.
Whenever I would explain my plans to him about my worst case scenario (Which would be being told that I did have an allergy and was at risk of anaphylaxis). He said he would be there for me and make me feel safe, but then say "But, that's not going to happen! Because you are not allergic!!!!" with that smile. "We will go on a date and we will share a milkshake!".
So, there were several possible outcomes of this appointment. ( I made a list)
- Absolute best case scenario: I walk in, tell the allergy doctor my experience and she looks at me like I'm crazy and tells me those are false positives and that I'm just lactose intolerant. Maybe a skin prick test that's negative.
- Tells me I'm allergic but only to milk itself and I can have other dairy,
- Tells me I can have some dairy but not all.
- Tells me i'm very very mildly allergic but I don't have to worry about cross contamination and if I accidentally consume dairy and it bothers me to just take a benadryl and i'll be okay.
- I am allergic but they don't know how allergic and just suck at their jobs and I don't walk out of there with any closure.
- I am severely allergic I need to be careful and I need an epipen.
4 and above is good news. 5 and 6 are bad news. I was scared for 5 and 6 but excited for 1 being possible.
I hoped and I prayed for 1. Dear lord please give me good news especially 1. If I don't have an allergy I promise I'll make all of my dreams come true.
May 31, 2023 is the appointment. I'm super nervous, I bring my brother in law in for moral support.
I go in there. Tell the nurse everything. Show her my old results. She writes it down. Leaves and says the doctor will be here shortly.
Doctor comes in. I tell her my history, my symptoms, and about my GI doctor. She then asked me "Have they considered lactose intolerance for you? and I said "No she just threw dairy allergy at me"
I showed her the screenshots of my blood allergy results on my phone. She looked at them and said "Those are negative". Heh? "But my GI doctor said they were positive!" I said.
"Your values are under a certain number, way too low to even consider an allergy. and if you did test positive, if you had no tell-tale allergy symptoms to the food. You sound lactose intolerant to me. Try a lactaid with dairy, see if it helps."
I was in shock honestly. I was so happy and relieved. She said "See? You knew you weren't allergic to dairy!" with a smile. I got the best possible outcome as I affirmed. Outcome 1 but better! I didn't even need a milk skin prick test! Lol I went almost a whole year thinking I had an allergy ahhhhhh.
I messaged my friend the news in the doctors office when she left the room. That I didn't even have an allergy. He replied "I KNEW IT"
On our way home I got a cake pop from Starbucks, and when we got to my sister's house I ate it. No symptoms!
Had a drink with whipped cream on it after dinner that probably had milk in it. Just burping.
Ate my first pizza rolls that night. No reaction! yay!
Had buttercream cake earlier. Felt fine!
THANK YOU FATHER, FOR THOU HAS HEARD ME AND THOU ALWAYS HEARS ME!!!!!! ISN'T IT WONDERFUL I CAN EAT TAKE OUT AGAIN!!!!
and shout out to Dr. Joseph Murphy, I used his sleep method and his AI helped me create the affirmations!

2023.06.02 08:29 m1313s My mother kept me sick so she could take care of me. I struggle with resentment towards her, I want to find forgiveness
I’m having a hard time coming to terms that I really don’t like my mother. What makes my feelings more conflicting is on the outside, she portrays me to be her entire life to the outside world. So I feel like no one believes me when I tell them what I went through.
with age, research and reflection I came to the self realization that she does not have my best interest at mind, only the facade of being a good mother to showcase to the family and friends how devoted she is to me and only me.
These are some things my mother has done to me throughout my life, I want to get it off my chest. Maybe just to see if anyone else can relate, or if I am over reacting since I have always blamed myself
When I was 3-8ish years old my mom would let me have all types of babysitters, I remember crying, fearful, not wanting to go, explaining I don’t like our neighbours house. She would always tell me oh but the wife of the couple is just so nice and sweet, they always buy you gifts! There was a few married couples I would get passed around to, but one of couples the male did rape me at 4 years old. I remember being sore and telling my mom about it, she disregarded completely.. well actually told me not to be talking about my private parts. There is another graphic part that makes me remember this moment vividly that I can’t bring myself to talk about in detail. But let’s just say, as a child I knew that when my lips were dry and cracked it would take the pain away, I resorted to my strawberry lip balm and got in lots of trouble for this. Because of this trauma I assume, I developed a eating disorder around 7-8 years old. To the point where I would take huge containers and throw up my food in them and hide it in the my closet..my mom found these, because well I was 7 I hid them terribly and it was most likely obvious something was wrong. she didn’t say anything she would just dump them and pretend like nothing was an issue. This eating disorder years down the line almost killed me, I suffered for 10 years and only until I reached my lowest weight, my hair fell out did someone outside of my biological family stepped up and I went to an inpatient care unit for about 8 months.
my mom loved the attention it brought her, to this day she still talks about how many times she drove my to the doctors apts. how she made friends at the grocery store who’s daughters also are struggling with an ED. Etc.
I would go to a psychiatrist because of my ED and the program I was in. When I was a child i was prescribed these medications all at the same time. Seroquil, zopliclone, trazadone to help me sleep (Idk how to spell them lol.. also tho, that psychiatrist should have their medical license taken from them) Anyways, I was allowed to take all of these pills everyday, along with Benadryl to put me to sleep every night, I took Benadryl long before being prescribed these medications however. My mom would give me one every night and I felt like I got addicted, and could not sleep without one. I always remember being at our family doctors office as a child, always being sick and my mom loving going to the doctors. Like the doctor and his wife (the nurse) were basically my moms best friends. I remember being there a lot.. like a lot. For some back story, my mom has only had one job in her life when she was 21 then met my dad. My dad was an alcoholic growing up, not to the point of unemployment and he had a respectable job, but a drunk when he came home. he was absent emotionally and physically abusive. He only really hit or kicked me badly 3-4 times, but it was mainly emotional. My brothers got it worse when it came to getting beatings when they were kids.
I remember watching Oprah or something like that with my mom. This was a little after an incident had happened with my dad, kicking me or something. This episode was a special on children who were abused and survived.. but these were serious, serious abuse cases like children being chained to their beds, starved, regularly beaten types of stories. My mom made me watch this, she told me how lucky I am to not grow up in a house like this with parents that loved me so much and who gave me such an amazing life, this felt confusing to me as what I was seeing was horrifying and heartbreaking. I felt as if I was just making things out to be worse than they were. I later learned that this is gaslighting, my mom enjoyed doing this even in small ways. For my whole childhood, I was told my favourite colour was blue. When I would say it was pink constantly. My room was painted blue, family friends were told I loved blue… to this day I’m almost 27 my mom STILL buys me blue coloured things. I. fing. Hate. Blue..lol My mom loves to cook, it is the one hobby that she has. My mom also disregards allergies and has made both me and my brother extremely ill from sneaking our allergies into our food. We don’t have family dinners anymore because of this.
My fingers hurt from typing and sadly I could have gone on, maybe I can do a part two if anyone is interested. I feel terrible and guilty that I feel this way towards my parents especially my mom. I have moved away before, like to a different country then moved back .. loads of therapy and still I carry the burden of resentment that I wish I could release from myself. Maybe one day I will wake up with forgiveness, that’s all I want. I don’t want to have moments when I remember my mom never loved me, because that isn’t love that was illnesses.

2023.06.02 08:23 Witzmaster An often overlooked disease
Im allergic to grass pollen, and i live in switzerland. In this country, pollen allergy is at its peak. Grass pollen defeat me from May to September. What i have is called an Extreme Rhinoconjunktivitis. Just a really really really bad pollen allergy. I already undergone surgery to repare my inner nose tissue, as it was completely ruptured due to the pollen allergy. I went to the ER because of a cold, my body didnt fight it. It chose to simply ignore the more dangerous bacteria and focus on a little dust out of fucking grass. I cant deal with it anymore. I cant do anything with my disease, and its simply overlooked as a spring allergy. I fell off my bike one time, directly in a field of grass. I had to use an epipen, i went into shock. We spend around 30000 a year on medication, equipment social care, at therapist and overall allergies and my health insurance doesnt support me at all, tho my condition could be called critical at times. I literally almost died of it and my insurance doesnt do shit. For more than half a year im delirious, get bad grades, headaches, cant focus on anything and on it goes. I need to find a Job, but because of my condition, nobody would take me. I tried to take my life because of it a few weeks ago. I cant go on because of this. This contition is crippling and all the tips on the internet help nothing. I went to 20 Doctors around my life and nobody could do anything. I tried 30+ Types of medication, even marijuana and nothing helped. And worst of all - im only 16 and in switzerland, youre already recognised as an adult, only you cant do anything that adults can, you just need to take all the responsibilities. I got pulled over on my bike because i looked like i had taken drugs and got fined. Since 2016 im in a deep depression. I lost my gf because of my condition, got bullied, god suspended and the list goes on and on and on. This condition is a terrible terrible thing and is overlooked and severely underestimated. Please, if you know anyone with Rhinoconjunktivitis, give them all your love and support, i assure you, they`ll need it.

2023.06.02 06:43 manjirinadkarni_ 5 Dietary Habits That Are Wrecking Your Digestion
It is not just about what you eat but how you eat too! Even though you are eating as clean as you can, there has to be a reason why you are still bloated, crampy, running to the ladies room, anxious and tired all the time. You may or may not realize, but your recent weight gain and constant fatigue are all related to your diet as well as digestion.
Here is a list of the 5 common poor dietary habits I have seen people follow that totally wreck their digestion
#1 EATING WHEN NOT HUNGRY
Hunger is the biggest cue that your body needs nourishment. Hunger is also a sign that your Jatharagni or digestive fire is stroked and working well. Have you ever wondered whether you eat because you are hungry or just because the clock tells you that it’s the time to eat?
I have seen so many people focus on eating at fixed times that they totally forget to check in with their body whether it feels hunger or not.
Eating when not hungry is the no 1 cause indigestion. Eating when not hungry means that brain has not received any signals from your stomach to secrete any digestive juices to carry out digestion and hence your stomach is ill-prepared for the food that’s being stuffed into it. If your stomach is not going to secret sufficient digestive juice, how can you digest the food that you are eating? In Ayurvedic medicine, this semi-digested or undigested product of digestion is known as ‘Ama’ and is circulated through your body serving as undigested toxin, creating inflammation in your body further causing allergies, stiffness, joint pain, as well as weight gain.
#2 EATING TO NUMB YOUR EMOTIONS
Is there someone who doesn’t eat emotionally…the answer is probably a few in a million. Today’s fast track life where people barely have time for anything, how can they find time to feel their emotions. Sometimes emotions like sadness, worry, loneliness, anxiety are harder to understand and process, as people don’t even know they are going through it for the lack of mindfulness. So the quick solution is food.
Today people turn to food for entertainment, comfort, stress relief, or as a reward rather than to nourish their body and mind. Often people eat to numb their emotions, especially sugary sweets as sweet taste is instantly comforting. This is nothing but a distraction to suppress certain emotions which result in totally overloading your digestive system. Again when you eat out of sadness, anxiety or boredom, your body is caught up in the emotions and not focussing on digesting food, which leads to ‘Ama’ the digestive toxin.
But it is so much more than just that. 'Your body needs to process emotions just the way it needs to process food and that takes time'. Most emotional states cause you to secrete stress hormones activating your sympathetic system shifts your body in the fight- flight- freeze mode. This takes away from your 'rest-digest' parasympathetic system. So again you barely secrete digestive enzymes and the food you eat makes you feel bloated, gaseous, and really uncomfortable.
#3 DRINKING TOO MUCH WATER IMMEDIATELY BEFORE OR AFTER MEALS.
This is the biggest weight-loss myth I have seen in my practice as an Ayurvedic doctor. If you think it is a good idea to chug a few glasses of water just before your meals to fill up, eat less and effortlessly lose weight, you need to think again. I have encountered so many 'weight loss gurus', who advise their clients to drink at least 2 glasses of water before they eat anything, which is the ‘worst’ thing you could do to your digestion. Too much water can easily dilute your digestive juices....just like when in your grade 8 chemistry class where you learnt to dilute an acid by adding water.
#4 EATING WHILE MULTITASKING
Let me get something straight to you…Multi-tasking is a myth. It just means that you are taking the same amount of time to do many things at once, often inefficiently, than choosing to do one thing at a time with all the focus and efficiency, In today's world, this is a sad reality for many busy women, men and alike.
Older men and women who lead a hectic life, working, attending client calls, dropping kids to school, getting to the gym while grabbing a quick meal; whereas some kids just cannot simply sit and eat without being glued to the idiot box. Eating on the go is a terrible habit for anyone and everyone and is another reason that leaves your digestion compromised you’re your brain doesn’t is still focussed on reading emails, how the heck will it know that you are eating and need to secrete digestive enzymes??
#5 NOT EATING ACCORDING TO YOUR DOSHA TYPE
Last but not the least, eating against your dosha type
Dosha type? What the heck is that?
Well there are five main elements that make up the universe also your body- Akash or space, Vayu or air, Agni or fire, Ap or water and Prithvi or earth. These five elements combine to form 3 biological energies within your body known as the doshas - Vata, Pitta and Kapha. These doshas govern our physical, mental, emotional states as well as behaviour. Your health, happiness and longevity depend on the balance of these doshas, which are affected by foods, dietary habits, lifestyle, as thoughts that you think. Since these impact you in each and every aspect of your life, considering them when you choose your diet and nutrition is of utmost importance. This is the reason why some people cannot handle cold foods at all, and some react to dairy. If you have a diet that is not compatible with the dominant doshas in your body or your dosha type, it sets you up for digestive imbalances as well as different health issues.
So take some time to see which of the above habits are the main reason your digestion is suffering and feel free to share with someone who needs this information.
