2023.03.29 07:54 Hummingbird4130 First time working, need advice

As the title mentioned, I just started to look for jobs. I applied to multiple places and the HR sent me the requirements.
This includes working on public holidays for double pay (normal pay 7.50 an hour), is able to travel to different branches (because they're short staffed) and transportation is on my own. I don't have a vehicle, I could walk to the two branches but needs to drive to a third branch. We can also take our breaks according to schedule, I also need to work 6 days every week, and the working hour is 12 hour every day. Is this okay? I'm thinking that transportation itself is gonna eat up a part of my salary and parents won't let me get a license because it's expensive. 🄲

2023.03.29 04:51 rachaelmcc Commission during FMLA?

I work as a wedding sales manageplanner for a catering company in PA (outside of Philly). I am paid 4.5% in commission on all food and beverage costs for each wedding I sell. I am currently pregnant with my second child, due in September.
I had a baby in August 2021. I was told I'd be paid 2% of my commission for the weddings I wouldn't physically be at while I'd be out on maternity leave through Aug-Sept 2021, even though commission is based on sales made prior to even becoming pregnant. I was informed the reason for this decrease in commission pay would be to "pay for my replacement while I was out" (this would be the person serving as the weddings day-of-coordinator in my place). In Aug 2021 the person who served as my replacement was an hourly employee. This time around, the employee is a salaried employee.
My question is - is it legal for my company to hold any portion of my commission, if it's based on sales made prior to my leave, and all sales goals have been met? Just to note - there is nothing in my employees company handbook that mentions sales commissions at all.
I plan to reach out to a lawyer, but am curious if anyone has previous experience with this or any insight. Thanks!

2023.03.28 21:35 Public-Can-7590 Should I tell my boss in my resignation letter that the reason I wanna go is her b*tchy consultant friend?

Today I decided to resign from my job. I’ve been really unsure about it for a while, but today, something really it triggered me. To give you some context I work as a marketing coordinator in an entry-level job, with an entry-level salary, while covering managerial tasks.
My boss decided to hire her friend as a marketing consultant to our department. I’m all for having someone experienced as an added value to our team & for me to learn from them, but ever since the woman came all she’s done is criticize us, especially me. It’s literally only been two days!
The first video I showed her was about me explaining a new promotion we have going on. She criticized how I apparently wore too much make up on the video; and mind you I made sure it wasn’t a lot. I’m not stupid. Then I sent a post I designed for Instagram which follows a certain template, and for that simple visual with barely 2 words on it, she had five comments to give me. She also complained about us not having enough Instagram followers without even asking to see reports showing our progress.
My last straw was today, when I sent a video marketing the coffee we sell in our stores: 1) she didn’t like how the guys talked 2) she thought his shirt was short -when it was just fit- 3) she thought it was too detailed -video was 49 sec- 4) she thought we needed to focus on one type of coffee instead of the whole machine. If she asked to make the video shorter, I would’ve been fine with it but I know my audience, I know what they like, and I know what product I should be showcasing in my video. Numbers don’t lie and it’s very unprofessional for her to be giving feedback solely based on personal preferences.
She cant just come out of nowhere, and not ask for any reports, not ask about our strategies, not try to understand how we work, not even ask for any context, and just start being bossy and criticizing everything we do simply to seem relevant. On top of that, I feel betrayed by my boss; instead of standing up for her team, she’s been clapping and supporting her friend/consultant. As far as I’m concerned, that new woman is not qualified to be giving us orders and feedback. From what I’ve seen she has no clue how social media works.
And so I’ve decided to resign as soon as I get a new job. So should I tell my boss in my resignation letter that the reason I wanna go is her b*tchy consultant friend? I’m honestly dying to give her a peace of my mind.
TL;DR: boss hired new friend as a consultant for our department, and all the latter has done is criticize my work without viewing reports or asking about my strategy. Now I wanna resign now.

2023.03.28 21:20 JoeSki42 How's the job market treating everyone in Denver today?

After giving the Mortgage Brokering world a-go and being completely bucked out of that industry by interest rates that doubled overnight and priced-out all of the clients, I am back in the job market looking for my next opportunity. Hopefully something in an industry that doesn't implode overnight šŸ™ƒ.
I thought now would be a good time to create a thread discussing the state of the Denver Metro Job Market. Talk about who we are, what we're trying to accomplish, and trends that we're starting to notice. Maybe we can help each other.
Who I Am and What I'm Looking For
My name's Joe. My primary background are in Media Production and Project Management, but I've worked in all kinds of jobs over the years: Hospitality, sales, clerical administration, security, management, teaching and instructional design...I think the world often looks down on the "Jack-of-All-Trades" types of person - such as I may be - but I'm really proud of the mix of skills and perspectives that I have acquired! My experiences have taught me how to quickly assess and respond to nuanced logistical and interpersonal situations, how to build relationships with pretty much anyone, and how to quickly understand new softwares, systems, and industries. I really love being obsessing over the granular details necessary to make my processes and systems as optimal as possible and then taking a bird's eye view to hammer out my 1-week, 1-month, and 3-month game-plans.
My current job hunting strategy has been two pronged.
Prong A: Acquire a full-time position in a company that can benefit from my multi-faceted skill set that pays no less than $75k a year. For this goal I am primarily searching for Project Manager, Project Coordinator, and Account Manager positions. I'm mostly toggling between Indeed, LinkedIn, and sometimes plugging myself into "The Hidden Job Market" by searching LinkedIn and other social media posts tagged with "#NowHiring" and "#Denver".
Prong B: Build out a sustainable and lucrative Video and Photo Production Company. I really love working with Photo and Video and I have my BFA in Film Production I've spent the past few years upgrading my equipment and improving my skills. I'm stuck in a bit of a Catch-22 of needing new material for my reel to land clients with but having a hard time landing clients with mostly outdated projects on my reel. But despite that challenge, I am landing some new clients, getting snazzy footage for my website and social media, and garnering a positive reputation for my work. So that's been cool. I would really like to work with more Non-Profits! I discovered an Ad Grant program recently that offers Non-Profits a substantial amount of free credits for their platform that effectively allows them to run an advertising campaign for free; all they need to pay for is the production of their content.
How it's Going and What I'm Noticing
- Hiring Companies are Responding More Than Before: I'm actually getting a lot more rejection emails this time around as opposed to being ignored altogether for companies that decide not to proceed with considering me. That's really cool! I reckon about 25% of all companies will let me know that they've passed on me. This is an improvement of my job hunt 5 years ago when it felt like only 5% of companies let me know that I wasn't being considered.
- Hiring Companies ACTUALLY SEEM TO BE HIRING: I started applying to jobs in December and I figure I've had about 2 interviews each month on average for positions offering salaries either at or above my desired rate. I actually think that's really good! Obviously it could stand to be better (I could have been hired by now! :-p) But I certainly have seen worse conditions. I would also say that the majority of these interviews have been really positive experiences!
- Wages in Denver Are About the Same as They Were 5 Years Ago: There's a handful of positions I distinctly remember applying to 4-5 years ago and I vividly recall them offering the exact same salary as what they're offering today. It's really weird and unfortunate. This isn't all companies or positions of course, but way more than I would have anticipated.
- The Hidden Job Market: I heard a recruiter on TikTok mention that before many companies post their job openings on Indeed or other job boards they'll often just make a shout out on their social media accounts with a few words describing what they're hiring for and then using tags such as "#NowHiring", or "DenverJobs". It hasn't landed me anything in my wheel house, but it does definitely seem to be a thing! A lot of companies are announcing their available positions like this. Worth knowing about for sure.
- There are Now Way Fewer Job Boards: I remember having about 5-7 job boards to source opportunities from 4-5 years ago. Now it sees like Indeed and LinkedIn are the only worthwhile ones. Would love to know if there's any others I should be aware of. Of course, as always, applying directly through a company's website is best.
That's all for now. Would love to hear about the experiences others are having.

He wore No. And that’s what we did. ā€œEssentially when you’re building a team and I’ll say this to everybody there’s 53 players. He’s no more employed by the Ravens than I am. Lamar is able to talk to other teams. Teams that have older QBs WILL turn to the draft to find one and that QB will be cheaper and probably more productive than Jackson. And we’ll utilize that - see if anything happens down the road. ā€ā€œI’ve been in constant contact with her [Kim Miale Barkley’s agent]ā€ Schoen said. No player is worth what Jackson wants. It would take a major contract and a major investment of current and future draft picks. On Monday Kraft talked about the importance of building a team with draft picks. There’s a shock. There’s a salary cap so guaranteed contracts don’t cost the owners more money. I think BB has this year and that’s it. Even though they aren’t in the same division the franchises share a significant degree of acrimony. The Pats are spoiled and expect to be there every year (and Kraft is happy to pay for them to do so). I am not sure that BOB has the innovation in him to coordinate an offense that maximizes Lamar’s abilities. - Alpha AI

2023.03.28 17:32 curetrick How can I ensure my potential promotion title and pay reflects my role and value?

A couple of months ago I was borrowed from the team I was in for years to work on a marketing campaign. I haven’t had a contract change, pay rise or anything like that, as this style of campaign is a trial and basically my company wanted to see if it works before making any permanent changes to anything/anyone and doing more campaigns like this. The PM has just sent out a message in a group slack channel which basically implied that there will be another campaign.
I now expect to have a conversation with someone on my new team about my position. I’ve had consistently good feedback over the project so I’m preparing to be asked what I want to do (they’ve said I can shape my career to suit me). I’m happy to continue in this role, no problem, but I would like a job title and pay rise to match. The email signature they’ve given me says that I’m a client services coordinator. However, I’m actually doing the role of an SDR, and the campaign is an SDR campaign. A couple of quick googles tells me that an SDR role typically pays Ā£3k more than a client services coordinator per year. I’m worried they’ve done that so that I’m cheaper when made permanent. They have said that they’ve given me the title of client services coordinator because we already have one and I’m doing what she does. But it’s definitely not right.
That they’re trying to pay me less might not be the case, but when it’s time to have the conversation, which is soon, how can I handle it to give myself the best chance of ensuring my role and salary reflects what I do?
Thanks for reading.

2023.03.28 15:40 IamXtreme4s I dont know why I push on..

(45M) To be clear, I am not suicidal, partly because I am a coward, but mostly because I am a proud father of 4 kids, 2 biological (both girls),and 2 from my first marriage (both boys) that ended 16 years ago but I still have a great relationship with one of the boys. I cant think of doing something like that to them especially seeing how suicide truly destroys people who are alive to pick up the broken pieces left behind and the guilt they feel as they try to wonder what they could have done. Been there done that. My choice in women has always been, well not too good. I have a severe white knight syndrome. The more broken, the more attracted I am. I am the guy who will make coffee in the mornings, cook a wonderful meal, body rubs, draw a candle lit bubble bath after a long hard day. Always supportive and trying to be helpful where I can. Take a person out in public, buy flowers, drop off or order a lunch to be dropped off for someone at their work, cute little notes to express my feelings, go out of my way to do the little things like "hey, I wanted a snickers bar, so I got you one too" kinda things.I am always trying to go above and beyond for so many people too. At work, I am easily one of the favorites around. I am a manager that oversees food being made and served to residents who cannot take care of themselves, and I love to spoil the nurses and CNAs there because unless you actually work in that field, with resident that have the issues we deal with, you will never truly understand how hard and under appreciated their job is. (By the way, if youre a nurse or CNA.. I have MAD respect for what you do and what you put up with and yet still manage to smile and still want to help those who cannot help themselves.. )I FEEL so alone though, every girl I have dated (10ish?) or married (which is 2) have all gone for the grass thats greener on the other side. My first ex-wife cheated on me when we moved to the south, and got pregnant (which by the way her daughter, that came as a result of the mother cheating, and I have a great relationship between us.) My second ex-wife cheated on me with an old flame of hers that use to abuse the shit outta her physically. He was the mostly absent father of one of her children who didnt care about his kid for the first 5 or 6 years of me being in this kids life to suddenly showing up at my place when I wasnt home at least 2 times a month, and being at the house for long periods of time. When I would come home I would feel the hood of his truck as I walked by it. He lived 60 miles away so a cold hood on a normal day is a tell tell sign. On top of that, the house would smell of "sex" (yes, she would produce a scent from her nether regions that was quite distinctive) when I would walk in to the house.Brings me to my current relationship. I knew her for about 30 years. Her sister and I were friends in highschool, and I use to go to her parents house from time to time to hang out and help around the house, since I am a white knight who likes to be helpful. About 10 years ago we re-connected after not seeing each other for about 20 years. She had just gotten out of a 14 year marriage when he cheated on her with her then 16 year old sister (he was 32) who had moved in with them, in the house they My GF and her Ex) built, when she had no place to go. I became involved with my current GF about 2 years after that happened. So while a part of my was attracted because of my white knight syndrome, I was mostly attracted because, while she was hurt by what her ex had done, she always seemed to be full of life and mostly about me. Her son came first in her life and I knew that, my girls are equally as important when it came to me. 6 or 7 years ago I just happen to pick up her tablet and saw a notification message that said "I miss you" with a heart from a name I didnt recognize. When I opened the notification up, everything changed. It was our 3rd year anniversary and there was a message from my GF to this guy that said " It is our 3rd year anniversary, I am upstairs in the bedroom and he is downstairs watching tv. I wish you were here and not him." Along with pictures of herself, nude, that were taken in front of the bathroom mirror. He was an engaged guy, who was truly ugly by any account, and not just me being bias cause of the incident at hand, he was a scrawny, bushy bearded redneck with bad skin and barely a build to him. I am not a model by any means, but I am not bad on the eyes either, seeing his picture and reading those words completely destroyed me. Why didnt I call it off? Honestly, I was just so tired. I was so tired of just failing all the time. I have tried so hard to find something that I believe just doesnt really exist for me. I believed that it was my fault that she ran to another man, maybe I was just too nice? I was there for her and supported her too much, and she just wasnt use to that kind of love an attention? so she sought out an ugly hillbilly who was engaged to be married that she wanted to have a life with instead of me? the guy who pampered her, cared for her, supported her job change, her side business, paid past due property taxes for 2 years so she wouldnt lose her house, cooked for her, breakfast in bed once a month, coffee every morning, random body massages and bubble baths...? It HAD to be my fault..
Its been about 6 years since then. We've been intimate 5 times in 6 years (yes, I am petty and kept track) I have tried talking to her.. SO many times! I really have too! Not attacking or accusing or anything! I would try an ice breaker conversation, then I would bring up something that on my mind, like about her son (who is 16 now) who intentionally will attack me or my children either physically or emotionally, to which the common reply when I complain about her son is "Well your daughters did this and that... " and nothing comes from it. (Side note, her son spends his weeks in 3 places, school, therapy and in his room with 9 game systems and a gaming laptop. That is all he does 24/7.) To the leak that formed on the porch (which has now cause rot and a huge chunk of the ceiling to fall out from water damage.) To the $200 purchases of junk food that she buys for her and her son, then hides it from me and my daughters, to the Peloton exercise bike that shes paying monthly for, shes used 3 times for 15 minutes each time and has had it for over a month when she needs a new vehicle, her house is in desperate need of repair (the floor in random spots is warping throughout the house, cracking tiles, walls, ceilings, this is a radiant floor system, which means the floor is poured concrete with hot water tubing throughout, the floors should not be very noticeably warping like this) Everytime I try to talk to her it results in either she starts crying and getting "high anxiety" and cant deal with anything and I feel like an ass cause I dont want to hurt her.. OR she gets mad, high anxiety, starts crying and I feel like an ass cause I dont want to hurt her.Why dont I invest in fixing the house?Cause since my kids and I have moved in, this has been "HER HOUSE" which I accepted, completely! It made sense, I was just moving in. But after a few years, I would still be told how I needed to ask her before I had friends over because it was her house and she wanted to know who would be there. After replacing expensive items in the house with just my money (fridge, TV, small appliances, furniture) and her not helping out one bit. Why should I have to spend all my money to fix her house? Just so her and her son can continue to treat me an my daughters like shit? I pay 1/2 of all expenses here but I have to buy my own food for me and my daughter (my other one moved out the second she hit 18) just to have her son eat it all then go back to his food. My food is sugar free food cause I am diabetic, so the $200 plus in junk that she buys, I shouldnt be eating anyways. So I buy sugar free stuff for me, my daughter eats it too, my GF son will find where they are hiding, eat them all (he ate 4 packages of sugar free wafers in one snack sitting) then eat the snacks that I shouldnt be eating. I mention it to my GF and her reply is "Well your daughters.... bla bla bla"Why dont I leave?I almost did.. November 2019, I got a job that paid me enough to get my own apartment that I could afford on my own with my manager salary. December 2019 I had money put aside for a deposit for a nice apartment and I would be able to live in while I save money and eventually look for my own house. Then covid hit and everything went to shit. My 401K wasnt really big, but I ended up having to wipe it out to help us survive the first year, the rents that were $800 to $900 for a 2 bedroom in a semi decent area went to $1200 - $1400 in the shittiest, drug, crime and rodent/insect infested apartments now. Interest rate is so high that, in my current situation, I can only afford a $1200 to $1300 a month mortgage which means finding a semi decent house that will fill all the qualifying factors for a home loan that has a total cost of under $150K.. Which consists of just about nothing, and the ones that I would qualify for, I am up against hundreds of other families looking for the same thing and just outbid the crap outta me.I hate complaining, especially since I know that a lot of what I am dealing with now I did to myself. I should have left 6 years ago, I decided to stay. But I want to leave and I am trapped financially. I cannot take on a second job cause my current one is too unpredictable and I can be called into work at anytime that someone calls out cause we've been short staffed for the nearly 2 years that I have been there and I dont have other people that are willing to take extra shifts. Also, one of the cooks is my daughter, if I quit, she would have to as well since I am her transportation (we work 60 miles from where we live). Someone might say "well its time for her to grow up and bla bla bla.." and you may be right, but she gets paid very good at her age and will not find something else even close to what shes getting now AND.. bonus.. I get to spend time with my daughter at least 5 days a week! I did pick up a side job for Grub Hub, but the demand for that around here is very small, and there are MANY MANY people doing it. The rents closer to where I work are twice what they are where I live so moving closer to work to cut down the expenses wont work. I have a great relationship with my brother and I know he wishes he could do more but hes in a situation as well (nothing like mine). The rest of my family here turned their backs on me because of my political choices. The other half of my family is a completely different post all together.. so going to family is pointless. My bro is great to talk to, but its always the same advise, which worked for him, and thats great, but it doesnt work for me.
This is getting really long, and I am sorry its all over the place, my brain has so much chaos going through it that at any given time I will have 30 incomplete random thoughts that I want to get out
I dont know how to love anyone anymore. That doesnt apply to my kids or my family, but to anyone I want to have a relationship with anymore. I stay mostly to myself, I dont party with strangers or go to bars or clubs, or get involved with many chats (youll notice this is like my 3rd or 4th post EVER on Reddit) I have been catfished by people on the internet who pretend to care.. then a few weeks later drop some "hey I need $50 now or my electricity will be shut off" or something similar (scams).. I dont trust people, I dont let my guard down at all anymore and open up anymore cause I just get discarded like garbage every.. single.. time. I wake up and I put on a smile, and I make people laugh, and make them smile, and I care for them, when inside I feel so damn empty that during my quiet, long drives, when I am by myself, I wonder "why dont just veer off the road at 80 MPH with no seatbelt on". "Why do I wake up in the mornings and put this silly mask on (the "everything is ok" mask) and parade in front of the audiences to entertain them and make their lives better." "What is the point to life?" AND why cant I find someone who will find ME good enough? Who wont go for the "hey, come over to my side of the fence" posts from men on the internet, who wont discard me like garbage?
Yeah.. after reading all of this.. I realize that I guess I have a lot more issues at hand that I thought. I am just a fucked up mess I guess. This whole post isnt even everything, just the tip of the iceburg. I guess just venting to a bunch of strangers helps a little cause I dont really care about the mean replies that I am sure I will get, maybe I just felt like I needed to post this in hopes to find someone who can relate, or maybe cause I just really needed it off my chest? cause right now, I truly feel so alone..
Time for work.. thanks for reading it.. if youve gotten this far.. then youve probably invested more into me just reading this, than the women in my past.

2023.03.28 14:07 Davidmora12 A manpower agency in Bangladesh is a helping hand in getting the best workforce for your industry.

Job consultancies are extremely important in helping businesses find employees. The Consultation Fees are used to pay for consultations. The Consultancies look for possible candidates to meet the criteria through a variety of job boards, portals, social media platforms, and advertisements. The second half of the question is about how diligently consultancies work to place applicants in firms. The services provided by the Consultancies to the companies according to the nature of the requirement to get the right candidate are:
Ā· RPO (Recruitment Process Outsourcing)
Ā· Temporary Staffing
Ā· Permanent Staffing (Junior to Executive level)
Ā· Employee Leasing
Ā· Payroll and contract staffing management
Ā· Turnkey Solutions
Ā· National and International recruitment services
The Bangladesh Manpower Agency, which is offering this service, chooses and conducts preliminary screening on the pool of job candidates. The company would receive a list of candidates that has been significantly reduced, which would save them a ton of time. As a result, corporate hiring efforts are more targeted and precise. The corporation and the placement consultant's relationship should be based on trust and openness. This will make it possible for the placement consultant to identify the ideal candidate for the position and the company.
Agriculture, fishing, and the textile industry comprise Bangladesh's three primary sectors. Bangladesh's economy is reliant on mining, agriculture, fishing, and the textile sector. Both men and women labor in various industries to improve their standard of living. Agriculture is not a year-round endeavor; it causes unemployment and enormous financial losses for farmers. At the start of the twenty-first century, agriculture still employed about half of Bangladesh's population.
The widespread lack of natural resources in Bangladesh has been a significant obstacle to the country's economic development. The primary engine of Bangladesh's economy is the textile and clothing sector. 80 percent of the country's exports are made up primarily of clothes. In Bangladesh, there are 3.5 million workers who put in long hours for meager pay in order to support their families. Women make up 85% of these workers. These laborers are required to undertake hazardous activities in cramped places without any financial security, in addition to earning meager pay. In addition, numerous factories have closed due to the current global climate, which has resulted in layoffs, salary reductions, and a sluggish economy. Many of these factory workers are struggling to make ends meet and are being forced to look for means of support.
For a better standard of living, many workers are moving to other nations. The workers usually work long shifts without breaks. Due to the proximity of other employees, their workplace is typically extremely small. This makes for a hazardous work environment. The Bangladesh manpower agency, which assists both employees and employers, finds solutions to all of these issues. 2023.03.28 05:00 Quirky_Solution_456 Paano po icompute ang Expected Salary?

For a background, I am working in a company na merong 13th, 14th month pay and other bonuses + allowances, kung itotal lahat, aabot hanggang 16th month ang total compensation ko.
Hahaha.
Then nagusap na kami ni recruiter and binanggit ko nga yung ngyari. Ang sabi na lang sa akin, is magbigay ako ng amount without thinking 13th month and other allowances.
So, paano po ba talaga icompute ang Expected Salary? and ok lang ba na biglang lumaki yung expected salary ko keysa yung sinabi during interview? parang Si recruiter ata ang maki2pag negotiate.
Current Role: Technical and Supervisory (Feeling ko Stagnant na rin ako dito kaya active ako sa paghahanap)
Offered Role: Technical, Managerial and Project Coordination

2023.03.27 20:02 ilovegoldies Struggling with guilt after turning down job offer last year

I had a job offer late last year. From the beginning, things felt very …off. This was a company who is HQ’d in another country but was starting a new office in my city. The person who contacted me was not a HR person. They didn’t have one (not sure if there’s one now). He was an advisor to the company.
This person called me at 7am in the morning and asked me to go to the office immediately that same day, because the boss was in town. I said I couldn’t and rescheduled it.
During the interview, they talked about the successful candidate receiving stock options and health/ dental benefits (no details). This was a new company, not pre-IPO at all.
They offered me the position right after the interview, literally at the door on the way out, but the advisor person refused to tell me the salary or the benefits. Instead, he insisted that I had to let him know my expected salary by the next day (Saturday).
I asked him to give me the weekend, and I’d give him an answer first thing Monday morning, but he refused. I had a number in mind but wanted to talk to some more experienced friends about this peculiar experience, and to make sure I did not over or underquote so I quickly consulted them and quoted him my expected salary.
He said it’s way out of their budget and he halved my quote. I again asked about the benefits, and once again, he refused to tell me and would not explain why. I asked if they could offer me just slightly higher (much closer to their quote than mine). He said no, his offer was final, and I ā€œdidn’t need that muchā€ since I was ā€œonly going to coordinate thingsā€ (not actually true).
He told me I had to let him know by the next day. I said, ā€œbut tomorrow’s Sunday.ā€ He said, ā€œyes we work 24/7 here.ā€
I was thinking WHY does anyone need to work or be on standby 24/7 for an office job? I felt this had been overall such a stressful, hurried and dodgy experience. So after a lot of thought, as much as I could think in the less than 24 hours given to me, I emailed to politely turn down the offer, and to ask them to please contact me if there were any changes. I also mentioned how I did not get a chance to hear about their benefits - I indicated this because the boss (who I actually had a somewhat positive impression of during the interview) was also cc’d in the email.
No one ever wrote back after that.
Here’s the thing. As dodgy as the experience had been, I have been feeling guilty about turning it down, because I’m dead broke and not young anymore. Since my savings ran out, I’ve been living off the kindness of friends who have lent me a little money but I can’t and don’t want to go on like this. The pandemic pretty much killed my career and this was the first full-time job offer I’ve had in a very long time. I’m unable to do a lot of other work such as retail due to some health issues. I did apply for entry level jobs in other industries I was interested in (for many years) but was never successful.
I’m not sure what I’m looking for here. I’m so confused by the behavior of the company. Was I wrong to have turned it down considering the dire financial state I’m in? I don’t know how to work or standby to work 24/7. There’s no way my health could withstand that.
I’m not in the US.

2023.03.27 17:08 Apart_Chemical_8988 Is a 27% raise for a promotion too much to expect?

I’ve been feeling stuck in my career as a project coordinator, and strongly considering leaving my job. I haven’t loved the other job options in my area/industry, and have been considering going through some boot camps to become a software developer.
I’m going to be considered for a promotion to project manager soon, and I’ll be requesting a 37% raise, but willing to come down to 27%. Our company already pays near the bottom in the industry (currently make around $51k and will accept no less than $65k for the promotion).
Does this seem reasonable? If they’re unable to accommodate the request, I think it’s a sign to move on. However I’m not in the practice of negotiating salaries, and if this is unreasonable I’d like to hear other people’s opinions.

2023.03.27 16:59 614Brie SoCal Financial Aid Professionals: How to you afford the area?

Hi there
I have been interested in relocating to San Diego but am really worried about Cost of Living on a financial aid prof salary. I currently work at a medical professional college as their financial aid advisor, but am hoping to move into an assistant directoprogram coordinator position.

For those that live in Socal (or, specifically in San Diego) do those schools provide enough to live enjoyably in the area? Or do you find yourselves having to work a second job/have roomates, etc?

Thanks!
